Chapter Text
Before starting this final chapter, I want to give a clear content warning.
This last part contains depictions and/or mentions of sexual assault, sexual content, drug abuse, physical and psychological violence.
I also want to be very clear about my intentions with this story.
I wrote this fanfiction out of deep love for the Life is Strange universe and its characters. Recreating this world around an OC has been both an immense pleasure and a challenge, and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who followed this story until now (It's the first one I ever wrote and posted lol so it means a lot).
This story is not meant to romanticize abuse, violence, or trauma.
A main example is the character of Nathan Prescott, who is deeply troubled, traumatized, and manipulated, sensitive in some moments, but still responsible for atrocities.
His relationship with other characters and especially Meria is not written to excuse his actions.
Nathan is volatile, abused, controlled, and shaped by someone far worse than him.
Human in a way that makes people want to save him.
But, in this story, I don’t write him as innocent.
What interests me is not rewriting him into someone good, but sitting with the discomfort of who he is.
Meria’s relationship with him exists in that contradiction and is not meant to redeem him.
It is meant to show how humanity can still exist inside someone who has done unforgivable things and how dangerous, confusing, and painful it is to empathize with someone like that.
