Mushoku Tensei: Kodama to Koe — A Fanfiction

Summary:

Hikari's life was... Nothing.

Just a broken kid who had to face the real world's problems completely alone. From the age of 9, he learned that the best way to survive is to shut off your brain and let your body do everything.

18 years later, he realized how wrong he was, how far he'd strayed from the promise he made to his father.

He sacrifices himself saving a girl... but he doesn't do it just to save her. He sought an escape in it, a way to finally rest, and somehow, to feel... Even if it was painful, even if just for a few seconds.

But the universe seemed to play dirty with him again, reborn as a baby with a father who rejects him and a twin brother who will be by his side for much of his life.

Will he... finally be able to fulfill the promise he made to his father?

Chapter Text

This is my first truly serious and most ambitious fanfic.

  • To be honest, when I created this fanfic a few weeks ago, I didn’t expect it to receive much attention, but people enjoyed it on another platform, so I at least wanted to bring it here so more people could get to know it. I don’t consider myself an expert, and I’m aware that my writing isn’t the best, but there is one thing I am certain of: I don’t add things just for the sake of it. Every change or addition has a reason behind it, and I hope you’ll be able to discover it.

People of AO3, thank you for reading this, and I sincerely hope you can enjoy this journey. I promise character development, proper use of the lore, and, above all, respect for the original work.
  • Now, the most important thing—about my MC: I won’t say anything about him that involves the story, but I will say that he has a reason to exist, a reason to be there, and that I created him months ago before finally deciding to send him into the world of Mushoku Tensei.

Alright, I wanted to clarify something important. Why? Simple: because a lot of people see a "system" and immediately lose interest without giving the story a chance. While this story does feature a system, it's not the usual kind you're probably used to. In fact, if you read a bit more of the first chapter, you'll see what it really represents.

I'm pointing this out because I've seen readers drop the story, thinking it's just a mechanic that will solve every problem for the protagonist. It's actually the complete opposite, and there's a specific reason why it exists.

That's the other thing: nothing I add is just for the sake of it. I didn't just send a protagonist there randomly; everything has a purpose. Anyone who gets into the story should try coming up with theories or 'solving' the mystery until the explanation finally arrives. So, I definitely welcome your theories.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading.
