Chapter Text
As the light of the afternoon shone, the orange tones overtook the blue of the sea at the harbor of an unnamed city. Besides the cries of the seagulls, the sound of the waves, and the footsteps of a woman, there was a big man in a heavy trenchcoat, waiting, looking out at the sea. The woman making her way to him was peculiar; she was small, had big ears, and cream fur. A rabbit named Vanilla is the one meeting that person. She stops beside him, also looking at the sunset, then looks at his face. She can see the small blue eyes behind the small round glasses he always used, still pretty as she remembered. This brought a smile to her face, as if she recalled something.
"It's been a while, Ivo," said the 130cm tall rabbit with a gentle voice and a pure smile."Not with those gaudy clothes today, I see, hehe".
Eggman raises an eyebrow and turns to Vanilla, "You know I can't use those in the city; I would attract unwanted attention." He stands with an imposing stance, his hands resting in the pockets of his trench coat.
As the cold wind of the sea blows, the sound of waves mixed with seagulls spreads as the symphony of the sea in that harbor. Since it is late in the day, not many people are around, leaving them the whole place to speak.
"So, how's Cream is doing?" said the 185cm tall egg with his rough voice, "She's fine, she's playing with Amy now."
"So? Hmm, and you, is everything all right?"
"Yes, I've been doing very well, thanks to you." She said it with a gentle voice and a smile so pure that he couldn't help but look away as if he didn't deserve seeing such pure beauty.
"And you? How have you been doing? You haven't been forgetting to eat, have you?" Vanilla continues.
"Well, no. I need to take care of my health and body if I want to live long enough to fulfill my dream. Ohohoho. I won't let anything stop me, not even that damn Hedgehog."
"Hehehe, you sure don't change, Ivo. Not even after all those years."
"You too, Vanilla. You're still as beautiful as when we met."
This caught Vanilla off guard, and she let out a gasp with a surprised face. Eggman or Ivo Robotnik was not a person of such romantic lines; he was more of a realistic and crude person. This sudden change surprised her; maybe the time they stayed apart not only affected her, but also him. Eggman stared seriously at her, while she got embarrassed like an adolescent girl meeting the boy she liked. Vanilla was uncertain of what to do; her heart raced, and she found herself captivated by his words and his beautiful blue eyes.
"Vanilla..." as the man was finally making his move, her heart skipped a beat, and she just let him continue. Maybe, in reality, this is what she had been expecting all this time; she had been waiting for his return to her. In the end, he is the man she always loved, but his dream never let them be together. She is frustrated. Behind her smile and her gentle words, she is angry that he chose to follow his dreams instead of their love; she wanted to tell him, but could never, because that's what she loved about him. When he talked about his dreams, that is when he shone the brightest. She could never take that away from him, but he is now here, in front of her, his hands on her shoulders, his face closing in, maybe he finally…
"STOP RIGHT THERE, EGGHEAD!"
A known voice echoes down the harbor. It was the voice of a boy, a friend of her daughter.
"You damn, Hedgehog."
"I knew it, it's Eggman, Sonic." A familiar voice from a little fox.
"Ohohoho, you won't get me, Hedgehog. I will be taking this one with me."
Eggman grabs Vanilla and jumps into the sea.
"No!" Screams Sonic and Tails.
Soon, an Eggmobile emerges, carrying Eggman and Vanilla, as it floats into the air.
"See you, Hedgehog. Ohohohoho"
And the two fly into the horizon. The villain's laugh echoes across the harbor, and a woman's deep sigh could be heard, while the heroes could only watch as the scene unfolded.
"Oh well, this is fine," says Vanilla.
And thus, Vanilla was kidnapped by Eggman.
