Work Text:
It's been raining at the Peak of Truth for a long time now... Well, not that long, maybe just a week at most... Truthless Recluse hasn't really been bothered enough to keep track of how much time passes by anymore... Maybe back when he was Pure Vanilla Cookie... But certainly not now. He isn't like Pure Vanilla Cookie anymore, and there really is no point in keeping track of time anymore if he is never going to truly crumble. Time has become another pointless meaningless thing to him, as have many other things that this life has to offer.
He looks outside his window as the rain continues its attack on the Peak. At least this bad weather would hopefully be enough to deter any cookies from climbing the Peak, to try and find a truth that never even existed to begin with. Honestly, a cookie would have to be straight up insane or stupid to even think of trying to climb the Peak of Truth with this awful weather. Seriously, who would even think of doing that? Truthless Recluse continues staring outside, becoming lost in his own thoughts.
The rain made him feel... Calm in a way. He didn't know how to describe it... It felt nice though. Relaxing. Perhaps that's what makes him like rainy days.
He may go to sleep early tonight if the rain keeps up. That would be nice... It would also mean that he could be free from the cruel thoughts that torment him, even if it's just for a little bit... He'll do it later though, it's still too early for sleep...
Someone knocked on the Recluse's door loudly, startling Truthless and pulling him out of his thoughts. What in the name of the witches themselves was someone doing here!? Who was even here!?
The Sage of Truth, of course... Only a cookie like him would think that it is a good idea to climb the Peak of Truth with this weather.
"Truthless! My dear other half! My love! Are you home?" Sage calls out, using the stupid annoying loving tone he always uses when talking to Truthless.
Truthless runs to the door, opening it and looking at Sage as if he was insane, and that was pretty reasonable considering that Sage was being a complete idiot right now when he is a literal scholar. Guess he really doesn't have common sense. He didn't even bring an umbrella and he is soaking wet! Oh dear ovens above, how stupid is he!?
"Sage!? What in the name of the witches are you even doing here!? Did you seriously climb the Peak in this weather!?" Truthless yells, definitely not pleased with how reckless the Sage was being.
"Yeah!" Sage says, way too enthusiastic despite the fact he is quite literally soaking wet.
Truthless lets out a long sigh.
"Just get inside already before you catch a cold. And for witches sake you better have a good explanation for why you decided to come up here." Truthless says, glaring at Sage before gesturing for him to get inside.
He then moved so that Sage could enter his home before slamming the door shut.
"Okay, explain. Now." Truthless says, getting to the point immediately.
"I came here because I missed you my love!" Sage says, still using that stupid overly enthusiastic tone.
"... You're telling me that you came up here, risking getting hurt or even worse, because you "missed me"?" Truthless says, while looking at Sage like he was about to crumble him.
"... Pretty much, yeah." Sage says, acting as though what he did was the most safest thing to do. (It isn't even the most dangerous, but it was still stupid of him regardless.)
Truthless sighs like a disappointed mother. If Sage wasn't immortal there is a good chance he would have crumbled by now just from how reckless he is alone.
"Sage, I swear, your stupidity knows no bounds. You are such an idiot." Truthless says in annoyance, before adding "You are so lucky I love you, otherwise I would have sent you straight back to the bottom of the peak."
"I'm well aware!" Sage says before going in to hug Truthless, who immediately avoids his hands.
"Don't touch me, you are soaking wet and I have no plans on joining you in that." Truthless says bluntly, much to Sage's sadness. "There are towels and spare clothes upstairs, go dry off and change first. We can cuddle then."
Sage slowly floats upstairs, looking like a miserable kicked puppy... It was honestly kinda pathetic. Truthless sighs again before going back to the window to stare outside.
Truthless was reading one of his books, mainly because Sage was taking a long time drying himself off and getting changed. He has read it several times already, and it shows with the condition of the book... He should probably get some more soon... Not right now though. He eventually felt arms wrapped around his waist firmly. Seems like Sage is back.
"Hello, Sage..." Truthless says calmly, placing a bookmark in his book before closing it.
He felt Sage pull him closer.
"You are so soft and adorable, my dear other half," Sage says softly, placing a gentle kiss on Truthless's neck.
Truthless rolls his eyes. Sage was an absolute idiot... A loveable idiot, but still an idiot.
"Whatever you say, Sage." Truthless says in annoyance, but there was no real malice to his words.
Sage turns Truthless around and then lifts Truthless up, nuzzling his face into Truthless's chest, trying to get as much contact as possible with his Recluse. He then makes a portal, throwing Recluse in before going in the portal himself.
Recluse then lands on a soft bed, letting out a startled noise. Sage then quite literally jumps on top of him, pinning him down and latching onto Truthless like a koala. his grip was tight, but not to the point it would hurt. Sage was acting like if he let go, Recluse would disappear or something... At least his Sage was warm, a big contrast to the coldness of Truthless.
Sage then starts running his fingers through Truthless's hair, smiling at him like an idiot.
"Did you really have to do that, Sage...?" Truthless asks, trying his best to look annoyed.
"Of course! It was the quickest way to get you up here for cuddles, my dear!" Sage says happily, looking at Truthless as if he was something that was precious that needed to be kept safe and not something that was broken beyond any form of repair.
Truthless will never understand why Sage looks at him that way... But maybe that isn't a bad thing... Who knows. But it does feel warm and safe in Sage's embrace. His eyelids are starting to feel heavy. He's going to close them, only for a bit now, and hope that the same warmth will still be there if he falls asleep...
"Goodnight, my dear," Sage says softly into Truthless's ear.
The rain is still extremely comforting, even in sleep.
