Chapter Text

This is stupid.

That was the only thought Kremy could think as this whole situation unfolded.

It was supposed to be a simple day. He and his krew actually had a chance to rest for once, it was supposed to be a peaceful fucking day! But no! They can't have a single nice day anymore! Something always had to happen!

“Mr. Kremy?”

Kremy was snapped out of his thoughts and looked over at Torbek. The bugbear, well former bugbear he guesses, as standing before him is human. It's weird seeing a human version of Torbek. Torbek still kept some features (or is it similarities?) of his former bugbear body. The… man is still tall and thin, lanky, his hair is brown and a total mess, Kremy is pretty sure the hair is matted, Torbek's hair is put up in two buns? Ponytails? Kremy isn't sure what the hairstyle is called. The ponytails are short and in the area Torbek's ears used to be when he was a bugbear (For some strange reason Kremy has memories of Gricko doing Torbek's hair like that but that is not possible considering this is their first day in this place in these bodies.) Torbek's eyes are a deep brown instead of their normal pink-

Kremy looks away from Torbek he doesn't wanna think about this anymore it feels weird, uncanny even to see Torbek as a human man he doesn't wanna see it.

This is all wrong. Torbek is all wrong. Kremy looks down at his own hands, or new human hands. His own skin is now a dark brown instead of green. Kremy hates this with every fiber of his being. It's not like Kremy hates humans or anything, it's just that Kremy is not a human, Kremy is an alligator and he liked being one. This whole situation is so weird. It's so stupid, it's-

“Mr. Kremy, are you okay?”

Kremy once again looks back at Torbek snapping out of his own thoughts again. Kremy is silent for a second before forcing a smile and looking up at Torbek but not exactly at the man's face

“I'm fine Torbek, don't you worry. Just a little frustrated about this whole situation is all. I'm not particularly fond of whatever fey curse this is.”

Torbek frowns slightly and for a second Kremy wonders if Torbek can see through the lies said before quickly dismissing the thought. Torbek isn't the most perceptive and Kremy is a great liar, Torbek is probably just worried himself.

Kremy was led into a room. The walls have a few decorations on it and one wall is lined with chairs. Kremy himself is sitting in one as he looks at the rest of his krew. For once in what seems like forever all of them are silent.

Before ending up in this area they were all separated and taken in different rooms. Kremy was asked strange questions and called a name that wasn't his.. It made him feel uncomfortable. The people who questioned him seemed to not like the answers he gave and frowned when he said his name was Kremy Lecroux not whatever name they were calling him. It was strange

He can only assume something similar happened to the rest of his krew considering the look on their faces and the uncomfortable silence they all sit in.

Well almost all of them. Torbek is missing. Kremy assumes Torbek is still with the stranger who separated them all, probably being asked just as strange questions being called a name that isn't his.

Kremy won't admit it but he can't help but feel at least a little worried about Torbek. I mean how couldn't he be? They're in a strange new place with strange people, and it doesn't help that Kremy still feels a bit guilty about what happened to Torbek the last time they let strange people take him.

No doubt the rest of the krew feels the same considering the fact that every so often one of them will glance at the door they all came from hoping Torbek will come through it.

Eventually after what felt like forever Torbek is led into the room by a person with a disgustingly fake smile.

“Aw, isn't that sweet? Y'all were waiting for your friend.” The person speaks in a soft gentle voice like one would use for a child or an animal they don't wanna scare. It pisses Kremy off. Kremy is a grown man and isn't going to be spoken to like a fucking kid, but before he can voice his annoyance the person speaks again.

“Well since you all are already here we might as well get you all in some new clothes. I'm sure those aren't comfortable to wear.”

What.

Kremy finds himself wearing a simple purple short sleeve shirt and black shorts. He feels uncomfortable without his suit but at least they let him keep his hat..

He of course was against changing his outfit and voiced it as much as he could but the person was persistent that they should change. Saying there is no use for a suit here and that they are just going to clean it for him that he'll get it back. Kremy does not at all believe them and even if he did he doesn't trust them to know how to properly clean a suit. He just hopes they don't ruin it completely. He would have fought more but Kremy for one doesn't know how powerful these people are and Kremy doesn't feel his connection to the Baron is as strong as it was before. It's still there but it's weak and Kremy doesn't think he could take these people in hand to hand combat..

Kremy sighs and looks at the others who all seem to be feeling some form of discomfort as well. Frost looks to be the most uncomfortable, it doesn't show on his face but his body language betrays him. Clearly Frost is missing his robes.. Kremy really hopes that they will all get their clothes back soon.

Once they all have changed into their new clothes they are shown rooms they are going to be staying in and told they will have roommates. Kremy doesn't really wanna room with some stranger, maybe he could convince the people to put them all together? But he'll do that later. He needs to focus on bigger things like how to break this curse (illusion?) and get back to avantris.
