"Honestly, the nerve of her!"
The voice of Leanbox's Oracle, the green-haired beauty known as Chika Hakozaki, silently stewed, her clenched fists, slouched posture, furrowed brow and narrowed crimson red eyes plenty enough to tell anyone who glanced at her that she was not in the best of moods. And for good reason!
Just a couple hours ago she got back from a weeks long diplomatic trip to the PC Continent... a trip that was normally supposed to be handled by the CPU of Leanbox. Safe to say it was not pleasant having to come up with a believable excuse to a (rightfully) annoyed Grey Heart for why Green Heart herself couldn't make it to meet with her. The actual excuse for why she couldn't make it was what was irritating Chika to no end.
It was of course that blasted MMO of hers. 4 Goddesses Online III, or was it IV now? Bah, who cares!
Mere hours before she had to leave, Vert caught wind of several raids that were just so scheduled to happen during her trip to the PC Continent. In the Green Goddess's 'infinite wisdom' she elected the best decision would be to stay behind and send Chika in her place to do all of the work and ensure a stable diplomatic relationship between their nations.
A task, may she add, that was made significantly harder, given how Grey Heart was wholly convinced Green Heart simply didn't care, especially since she had personally met the other CPUs and Candidates in person for similar purposes. The PC Continent had only just started to shed its status as a closed nation and open itself up to Gamindustri as a whole.
Just… ugh! Ugh!
"If it weren't for the fact you were my dearest I'd be taking a bat to that damn PC right this second." Chika spat to herself, stomping through the halls until she made it to Vert's room where she didn't even bother with knocking before, very aggressively, swinging the door open. "VERT!"
The Oracle, of course, went completely and utterly ignored. She saw the Goddess herself, back turned, headphones on and completely enraptured in that irritating game. Had she seriously been playing 4 Goddesses Online for the entire week?!
'Oh, that's it!'
Infuriated, Chika Hakozaki stormed inside, walking right past the little girl on the bed to give Leanbox's CPU the earful she rightfully deserved and—
... Wait, little girl?
"What the—?" Chika's rage completely evaporated, well mostly, when she laid eyes upon the little girl.
...A little girl who bore a VERY strong resemblance, to the point she might as well have been a clone of the goddess in question.
The girl looked to have no care in the world while she kept munching on a bag of nacho cheese flavored tortilla chips. Which was one of the many snacks she seemed to have judging from the various wrappers that were strewn all over Vert's bed.
"...Uhhhh... hello there." The Oracle greeted her, still sounding utterly confused by who she was looking at.
The little girl, who couldn't have been any older than six at best, gave the Oracle the brightest, most adorable smile the woman had ever seen as she waved at her happily. She didn't speak, as her mouth was full of those chips, the evidence clear with nacho cheese dust coating her lips and her little fingers that reached into the back that was easily half her size.
Her hair was a perfect shade of blonde, the same as Vert, and those bright blue eyes were a perfect match to Vert as well. Her clothes consisted of a simple, albeit very oversized pale green pajama shirt with a lime colored tank top underneath. The sleeves were so big that they easily covered the girl's tiny hands, the edges themselves also dusted with that orange tint.
Wait... she didn't eat that entire bag, did she? No, there was no way—
"...Vert?" Chika while eyes remained fixed on the girl with total disbelief.
Of course, she got no response outside of mouse clicks and keyboard clacks.
"Vert." The Oracle spoke up moving backwards to nudge the goddess. Who only ended up nudging her shoulder back as a way to tell the outside world she didn't wanna be bothered right now.
"Vert!" Chika kept shaking her over and over but it didn't deter the goddess's focus. "Are you-"
This time, Chika whipped around and ripped the headset off of Vert's blonde head and screamed. "WILL YOU GET OFF THIS STUPID GAME AND LOOK AT THIS!"
"WHA!? CHIKA!" Vert didn't even bother with turning to her Oracle, her fingers still fast at work with the keyboard and mouse. "NOW is not ideal! I am in the middle of a very important raid!"
"LOOK. AT. THIS!" Chika continued to shout, being silently happy Vert chose to invest in a gaming chair as she quickly spun it around and forced Vert to look at the small child on her bed, still snacking away.
"Yes, there is a small child sitting on my bed, what of—?" Vert immediately shut her mouth once the info fully hit her brain.
Her own blue eyes locked with the girls while she took in her appearance further... the hair... the eyes... her face... hell even her bangs were just like hers.
This couldn't possibly be… Was this really it? Had the impossible finally happened at last?! Why was she just staring instead of saying anything?!
Say something!
"Ummmm... u-uhhh..." The blonde goddess babbled like a moron, her brain straight up short circuiting from seeing what she believed would be an impossible sight.
The little girl was already tearing her way into another party sized bag of nacho tortilla chips, her tiny hand elbow deep into its contents, before she noticed the two women looking straight at her.
She seemed to stop with them, pausing with her handful of chips as if she had been caught with her hand in the cookie. Suddenly, the little girl looked a little afraid.
"U-Um…" The little girl finally spoke at last, her voice softer than even Rom's. 'Am I in trouble…?"
Chika was about to tell her she was for eating so many snacking by herself but was cut off by Vert springing up from her chair.
"Of course not!" Vert rushed to her sister so fast she seemed to teleport. Not even wasting a single second before she took her into a big happy hug. "In fact, would you like any other snacks? I would be all too happy to gather them up for you."
"V-Vert-!" Chika tried to scold but she went totally ignored.
"Yeah, yeah!" The little girls' fear instantly vanished, replaced with pure joy as she hugged Vert back. "Big sis will get me more snacks! Yay!"
Vert's already big smile got even wider once she heard those words.
Big sis...
It finally happened... Vert was at long last a big sister!
"I absolutely will! Anything in particular you would like? Oh! I know! Why don't we go into the kitchen and see what else in there you would like?"
"...It looks like she's already eaten everything in there..." Chika snidely commented herself, eyeing the numerous amounts of trash that was made from the girl's snacking. It made the Oracle wonder just how in the world she was still hungry after all that.
"Yeah!" Verna reached her arms up. "Carry me there, big sis! Pretty please?"
Vert couldn't contain the squeal of joy that came out of her, this girl was just too precious already!
"Of course!" The busty CPU reached and grabbed her little sister under her arms and got her into a more comfortable position. "Anything for my precious baby sister." She gushed and walked out, a reluctant Chika following the pair.
The whole time Vert carried her sister to the kitchen she felt like she was on cloud nine, she still couldn't believe it. A sister of her own was right here and she was carrying her! And for once this wasn't a dream she'd cruelly wake up from! The Goddess felt like nothing could ruin the stride she was walking in.
...At least, until both Chika and her saw the state the kitchen was in.
Almost all the cabinets were flung open and totally ransacked, various snack packaging were haphazardly ripped open and left on the floor once their contents were eaten. Obviously there was also various crumbs and such left on every single surface, it was like a wild Fenrir was unleashed in here for crying out loud!
"Wh-Wh-Wha...?" Chika muttered in utter disbelief, the food in here was supposed to last months! And it was all totally eaten with barely any crumbs to show for it!
The Oracle knew for a fact it wasn't Vert, given how preoccupied she was with her MMO, the workers had their own separate kitchen so that was out.
...That left one adorable little suspect.
Staring at the little girl with an eerily calm smile, Chika popped her question. "...Would you care to tell us when you first got here?"
"Ummm..." The little girl scrunched up her face in deep thought, her confused face looking downright adorable as she counted on her fingers. "Five... siiiiix... s-seben. Seven! Seven days!" She announced proudly, as if she had just solved the world's toughest riddle.
"...SEVEN!?" Chika's eyes damn nearly bulged out of their sockets from sheer shock. How did this kid eat months worth of food in just seven days?!
"S-S-Seven whole days?..." Vert's face paled, and that was when Chika turned to glare at the woman she so unfortunately had a crush on.
"VERT!" Chika shouted, mustering up the harshest glare of crimson she could at the lazy CPU. "How could you not notice her for an entire week! Of all the things you've done this is by far the most unbelievable!"
"I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry!" Vert apologized over and over, having a look of shame about her that she never noticed her newfound sister for a whole entire week. Missing an entire week of personal bonding time with her… that was just completely inexcusable!
… Maybe secretly investing in those noise cancelling headphones wasn't the best idea after all.
"As you should be!" Chika finished her tirade with a big huff before her expression softened up, though it still held the same sternness. "Honestly, you should be lucky she didn't end up injured or worse! She barely looks older than five!"
"Six!" Verna announced proudly. "I'm six!" She repeated, holding up six fingers for extra emphasis.
"I know I know I know! I should've taken a break far sooner!" Vert said and hugged her new sister tight. "I would've never forgiven myself had she been seriously injured." She continued on, now stroking the small girl's head. "Rest assured though I vow to do better from here on out! You will be seeing a whole different Vert from here on out, mark my words! It's what... umm..."
Vert paused when she realized one key piece of info was missing... she didn't have her own sister's name!
"Do you per chance have a name?" The blonde Goddess asked the small girl.
Verna thought for another moment longer. "Ver... Ver..." She muttered, trying to remember as she cutely struggled. "Veeeer... na. Verna!" She finally announced, beaming full of happiness and pride. "My name is Verna! Yeh!"
"And what an adorable name it is!" Vert gushed and hugged her tight yet again. "Oh I'm already planning out all the lovely activities for us Verna!"
"Yaaaay! I get to play with big sis!"
Chika couldn't help but admit the sight of the two hugging sisters was cute to see, especially Verna's in particular. While the Oracle was happy for her goddess to have finally gotten her wish...
… She still couldn't help but grimace at the trashed state the kitchen was in, she was utterly baffled that such a small child could even make such a mess and eat such a massive amount of food all by herself. The most concerning part of all was that Verna didn't even at all look the least bit full!
It was a safe guess to say that life in the Leanbox Basilicom just got a whole lot more interesting.
… But first, she'd better call the maids.
'This is going to be hell to explain…'
