Work Text:
For her, loving them is easy. Loving them is like a breath of fresh air; it’s like watching the sunrise every day, surrounded by warmth and content.
She never thought that they would love her as easily as she loved them. How could they? When she was basically the thing that they had been trained to kill since they were teens. How could they when she has been lying to them since she met them?
She was close but not close enough, she was there but not enough, she shared a part of herself but not all of her. And they knew that. They saw it in the distance, they saw it in the way that she sometimes would shut herself inside her room, or work too much that she doesn’t even sit a little bit still to be with them.
She knew all of that, and that’s why she didn’t blame them when they pointed their weapons at her, when they saw all of her. How could she blame them when she hasn’t even accepted herself fully? How could she blame them when she herself only saw a part of her and didn’t share the other part, not even with herself?
Hate, that’s what she felt towards herself. Hate and anger for who she is, what she is. Hate for her mother because she did this, she brought her to this world knowing what she would be. She would be two opposite things, two opposite sides. Hate towards Celine for making her hide herself to the point that she no longer wanted to exist.
If should could have chosen, she would have chosen neither a hunter nor a demon. Just human. Human with not so complicated fates, with normal friends and a normal life. Maybe she would have been a professor, a writer, or whatever she wanted. She would have had options, instead of having just one path, since the day she was born.
She didn’t get to choose anything in her life. She didn’t even get to choose who she should be. Things were already set in stone before she was even born.
But you know what? After all of that, she considers herself lucky. If she hadn’t been born, she wouldn’t have met them. Even though she still hid herself. The day they entered her life, everything changed. The way Zoey smiles bright as if she were the sun. The way Mira smirks like she is going to wreck you in the best way possible. Makes her life bearable, livable, and somewhat happy.
They came into her life like a wrecking ball; they changed her a lot, or at least they showed her/highlighted who she really is.
The first time they pulled their weapons when they saw all of her wasn’t their fault. How could they have known that it was actually her? How could they have known that she hadn’t betrayed them?
Mistakes did happen, but now they are over that and stronger than ever. They have finally accepted themselves and each other fully.
They have finally accepted their feelings for each other, and they are more in sync than ever.
I shouldn’t have let things go that far with Celine, but everything happens for a reason. And everything worked out just like it should have at the end, and I am stronger for it, thanks to my girls.
I knew I had chosen right when I connected their souls. They are the best hunters to exist, and they don’t even know it.
