Notes:

date of starting: 23.09.2025
date of completion: 30.09.2025

man, this is so messy and there's a chance I'll drop a remake sometime as the show continues lmao

also note: I'm not a native English speaker

a/n: since show’s blue lung doesn’t really exist irl + we don’t know much about it, I’m losely basing symptoms (PLESE NOTE I’M NOT A MEDICAL PROFESIONAL) and stuff on COPD (formerly know as blue lung disease haha) and asbestosis since both tend to be caused by air pollution and seem to involve similar symptoms to how little we’ve seen of KoG’s blue lung so far

if as of time I post this there already IS one fanfic like that then my apologies but also yes we need more angsty blue lung related frandi shit

AND AS USUAL: If I catch any grammar errors and/or missing words I'll fix this as I go!

Chapter Text

One thing about Andi, is that she always knew she was a multitasker.

She knows she is and she knows she always has been, no matter how unstable things are it’s not something she can ever deny.

She knows it’s one of reasons she got hired in that godforsaken park in a first place, even if it didn’t matter anymore with them getting rid of her recently.

But even then, dealing with a runaway Guinevere android (that also deeply wounded her and Frankie on her way out), looking for a new job after being booted from the old one AND hiding the deadly disease sitting deep in her bones from her loving roommate sounds easy, right?

After all, during her time as a crownie she grew used to manage much more at once and came out fine.

Even when new symptoms popped up, Andi would use all her will to toughen it out and keep working. Sure, she’s lost some weight at a pretty rapid speed and the blue hue started to show up on tips of her toes and finger, along with some bits of her neck but she still had plenty of time and ways to hide it, right? There are other things that need to be taken care of now either way.

Well, here she stood corrected.

Or rather laid on the floor.

Curled on the cold tiles, Andi mentally noted that it’s probably the first time she’s ever felt her throat and chest get so tight and sore during an episode. Sure, she did feel a tad bit under the weather this morning but this was new. As she almost coughed her lungs out, blue liquid she was coughing up in small puddles and splashes was baring slight, near unnoticeable bloody red bits as she struggled to breathe. On top of that her head was spinning like crazy and any attempt in getting up was met with her stumbling back down near instantly.

She really, truly felt like she was dying.

Which, despite everything, would be a real shame as she wasn’t really in a rush leave this world.

And God, she especially wasn’t rushing to leave Frankie.

Oh, her Frankie….

If she had to name anything worse than blue lung eating away at her, guilty conscience would be the most probable answer.

The dishonesty, the isolation.

But at the end of the day, Andi knew better.

Knew that letting Frankie help would mean they’d drop everything to stay and look after her, the same way they’ve been looking out for each other for as long as they both could remember.

Meddling like this could’ve cause Frankie to get fired and they really couldn’t afford Frankie to lose her job in their current situation.

Not that it would make much of difference in a long run, because even if sick person’s loved ones couldn’t physically catch the blue lung (thank God), it made life of all parties involved identically miserable and difficult, just for slightly different reasons.

But that wouldn’t be the problem for Frankie because of course she would fight for her.

She would fight for Andi to her death or to both of their deaths and Andi just couldn’t in her right mind let it happen.

Yes, it was for the good of everyone involved. She can fix it herself later.

Those were the last thoughts that popped up in her head as she started to slip in and out of consciousness with her breathing regaining it’s rhythm.

Last thing she remembered before everything went dark for good was hearing panicked voice and feeling familiar gloved hands lifting her off the floor.

Shit, definitely not the way she wanted Frankie to learn the truth...
