"Think you've packed enough?" Orange asks, some humor in his voice as he leans against the wall and watches Hook fuss through various things of Rocco's, stuffing as much as he can into his backpack.
"I don't know," Hook says, dropping back onto his heels and staring at the things still scattered around. "Can you think of anything I'm forgetting?"
"I mean, no," Orange says, shaking his head. "Unless you intend on packing for us too."
Hook blinks hard, glancing over at him. "Uh," he says. "Right."
Orange chuckles and presses a kiss to the top of Hook's head before wandering into the bedroom, digging around in the dresser for some clothes. "Here," he says, handing over a few things he knows Hook will want, or need. "Don't forget this." He pushes Hook's swimming trunks into the pile and Hook smirks, brows quirking up knowingly. "Yeah yeah. Finish packing, I'm mostly done."
"Ok," Hook chuckles. He wanders around the room, collecting a few other things and stuffing them in along all of Rocco's things. "Maybe I do spoil you a little too much," he tells the puppy, pausing as he takes in the trusting wide brown eyes staring up at him eagerly. "Ugh, but who wouldn't, look at that face." He kneels down and rubs Rocco's ears, leaning in to press a kiss to his forehead. "Silly guy." He pats the puppy's side. "C'mon, let's go swimming, yeah?"
Orange joins them and Hook clips Rocco's leash onto his collar, the three of them heading out after Hook shoulders his backpack.
One benefit of the internet now-a-days is if you want anything, you can find it with just a couple of Google searches. Which is how Hook finds the private pool he's rented for the afternoon, the sun-kissed concrete surrounded by flowers, tall trees offering shade from the warm sun overhead.
"Wow," Orange says, looking the place over. "This is... beautiful."
"Yeah." Hook smiles. "Glad you like it." He puts Rocco down and gives the puppy a good pat before digging around in his backpack. "Let's get you set up, little guy." He secures the floatie vest around the puppy before kissing him on the forehead. "There ya go, good to go." He then turns to Orange. "Do I need to set you up too?"
Orange huffs, then shakes his head. "No, I can swim."
Hook rolls his eyes at him. "So can the puppy," he says, digging around in his backpack. "I'm gonna change."
Orange watches as Hook pulls off his sweats and wiggles into his trunks. "Absolutely shameless," he tells the puppy, who tilts his head curiously.
"Hey, don't try to insult me to my puppy," Hook says, kicking his pants towards Orange. "Like you're going to go anywhere else to change. Please."
Orange smirks and kicks Hook's pants back towards the other lounge chair. "True," he says, popping the button on his jeans and beginning to shimmy out of them. He's rewarded for proving Hook right by how quickly Hook's eyes wander over, watching him intently. He laughs at him as he slips into his own swim trunks, sighing. "Who needs modesty."
"Exactly," Hook says, sitting down next to the pool and slipping his feet into the water. "Feels nice." He hoists Rocco into his lap and plays with his paws. "Wanna go for a swim, little guy?"
Rocco yips and squirms and Hook chuckles, leaning over to slip the puppy into the water. "Alright," he says, holding onto him for a bit until the puppy starts paddling evenly. "Go for it," he says, releasing the puppy and watching with a fond smile as he starts swimming away from where Hook's sitting.
Orange settles on the warm flagstone next to Hook and stares into the glistening blue water, pressing his arm against Hook's. "We gonna swim too, or just watch the puppy?"
Hook glances over at him, lips twitching up into a smirk. "Guess we'll have to see," he says, then before Orange can respond, he pushes himself off into the water, remaining underwater long enough to make Orange worry before he surfaces, sucking in a deep breath before treading lazily in front of Orange.
Orange huffs and kicks some water at him. "Trying to-" Before he can finish his thought, Hook surges up and grips him by the hips, pulling him in too. Orange gasps as he hits the water, but Hook has a good enough hold on him that he barely dips underwater before he's being pulled back up. "You're the worst," he says, swatting at Hook's chest.
Hook laughs and shrugs. "You were taking too long to join me," he says cheerfully, leaning in to kiss Orange. "I thought you could swim."
"Yes, I can," Orange says. "When someone's not grabbing me and pulling me underwater."
Hook makes a soft tsking noise before pressing Orange against the wall, hand trailing lazily up his side. "Sorry," he says quietly. "Forgive me?"
Orange examines his face, how the water glistens in his hair, drips down his tanned skin. He sighs, unable to even pretend to be angry with him in the face of that, Hook's deep brown eyes always weakening whatever resolve Orange may be trying to cling to. "Yeah, yeah," he says, pulling Hook closer. "C'mere." He tangles his fingers in Hook's hair and kisses him, smiling as Hook's fingers dig into his hips, swallowing the soft moan Hook lets out as he licks into his mouth.
"You know," Hook murmurs, his fingers tickling over Orange's warm skin. "This summer has been absolute shit professionally. But personally, it's been..." He sighs, resting his forehead against Orange's. "It's been pretty damn amazing. I've... enjoyed spending so much time with you and Rocco."
Orange smiles. "I've enjoyed it too," he says, searching Hook's face. "I wish we were both healthier and happier the last few months, but getting to go on vacation with you to the Bahamas, and to Luma, and our date nights like this... it's been pretty great."
Hook trails his hands up, fingers curling in Orange's hair, brushing through his soft blond strands gently. "Yeah. It has been." They kiss again and Hook leans into him, sighing softly. "Really great."
Orange smiles, bracing himself against the side of the pool as Hook tilts his face, kissing him hungrily. "I love you," he murmurs.
"I love you too," Hook says softly. They're still standing there, swaying with the water as they kiss, when Rocco swims up to them and whines, bumping into Hook's side until he eases back from Orange and scoops the puppy up, hugging him close. "Hey, little guy, you doin' alright?" he asks, pressing his face into Rocco's fur. "Having fun swimming?"
Rocco yips and licks at Hook's face, paws paddling in midair, and Orange laughs, shaking his head at him. "I think someone was feeling left out," he says, smoothing down Rocco's wayward fur as he steps away from the wall. "Let's go swimming."
"Alright," Hook says, putting the puppy back in the water. He and Orange watch as the puppy paddles around them, panting happily. "Silly guy." Hook rolls his shoulders, working the tension out of his muscles, before diving under the water, Orange watching his progress from above. Hook moves fast, easy, from one end of the pool to the other, surfacing and sucking in a deep breath before turning to look back at Orange. "Gonna join me?" he asks, smile somehow brighter than the sun overhead.
"I guess," Orange says, going at a much slower pace, swimming lazily towards Hook. Hook smirks and runs a hand over Orange's side as they float face to face. "This is nice."
"Yeah, it is," Hook hums, enjoying the warm sun on his face. Rocco paddles by, his vest keeping him afloat even in the deeper parts of the pool, and Hook beams at him as he noses at them on his way past. "I'm glad mama helped teach him to swim. I like being able to include him in days like today."
"Me too," Orange says, a soft look in his eye as he watches Hook watching Rocco paddle around.
"Hm," Hook says, a knowing glint in his eye as he looks over at Orange, lips twitching up. "C'mere." He pulls Orange closer and they kiss. "Hard to swim when you're looking at me like that."
Orange chuckles and kisses him again, smoothing his hands over Hook's hair. "That's ok," he says. "I like this better anyway."
Hook's face warms as he leans into Orange. "Me too," he admits, a sweet little smile on his face as he kisses him back. They swim a little more, lazy circles from one end of the pool to the other, sometimes diving underwater and testing how long they can hold their breath- Hook outlasting Orange just a little bit each time- until they surface to find Rocco searching for them, whining uncertainly as he paddles around unhappily. "Hey, little guy," Hook says, shaking some of the water out of his eyes. "C'mere." He pulls Rocco into his arms and nuzzles him. "It's ok. We were just playing a little."
The puppy headbutts Hook under the jaw and Hook huffs out a laugh, petting Rocco. "Yeah, you're ok," he murmurs as Orange swims closer and rubs Rocco's back, the two of them staying closer until Rocco seems happier. "What do you say we take a little break from swimming?" Hook asks after a moment.
"Sounds good to me," Orange says, following him to the edge of the pool. Hook settles Rocco in Orange's arms before clambering out of the pool, turning to first take Rocco from him, then again to help Orange out, steadying him on the slick pavement. "Thanks."
Hook spreads towels out on the lounge chairs and they stretch out, letting the sun and gentle breeze dry them off while Rocco curls up in Hook's lap, tongue poking out as he breathes steadily, already dozing off. Hook makes a soft, affectionate noise as he watches him.
"What a lazy guy."
Hook looks up at him, brows lifting. "He takes after you," he teases, Orange gaping at him.
"No, see, if that was true, I'd have perfected how to fall asleep sprawled out over your chest more often."
This startles a laugh out of Hook so deep that it shakes Rocco awake and he whines, staring up at Hook with a confused look on his face before curling back up and falling asleep.
"He makes it look so easy," Orange sighs, putting his sunglasses on and sitting back to relax.
Hook smiles and pets Rocco's back quietly before turning to look at Orange. "So swimming went alright today? Your arm feel ok?"
"Yeah," Orange says, peering over at him. "Swimming is easier than regular rehab. I feel good."
"I'm glad," Hook says, tipping his face back and breathing in slowly as the sun warms his face, slowly dries the water still clinging to his skin. "We have a couple of hours before we have to leave. What do you wanna do?"
Orange considers this for a few moments before reaching into the cooler, digging out a couple of diet Cokes. He hands one over to Hook, who smiles at him as he takes it, and then scoots to the edge of the lounge, picking Rocco up.
"Hey-" Hook says as the puppy yawns and squirms until Orange settles him down on the chair, tucking him into the towel. "What're you doing?" he asks, smiling slightly as Orange walks over to Hook's chair. Hook realizes what his intentions are and huffs out a laugh, scooting over to make more room, Orange settling his face on Hook's shoulder as he sprawls out, half on top of him.
"This is nice," he mumbles. They lay for awhile, sipping their sodas, enjoying the early evening breeze.
"Yeah," Hook murmurs, brushing his fingers through Orange's hair before pressing a kiss to his forehead. "Really nice."
