Work Text:
“Mmehhhh…”
Akito woke up with a stir. His face was halfway off the edge of the mattress and his arm was dangling over the edge. He felt a light weight on the side of his head. He turned and was met with his partner, Toya.
He'd been reading a book, which he seemed to be nearly done with.
“Ah, did I wake you, Akito?”
He'd asked. He closed the book and shut off the dim yellow light with a click. They both laid like that for a few minutes. The silence was rather awkward. Akito decided to shoot his shot.
He shuffled closer to Toya, inch by inch. Gray eyes peered down at him in curiosity, before Toya realized what was being asked of him.
“Do you want to… cuddle?”
Akito nodded as enthusiastically as he could in his half-asleep state. Toya clearly took it as a yes.
“Okay, come closer then.”
Akito scooted close enough so that he could hold Toya. His body was warmer than Akito's. It felt nice, like he was holding a personal heater that didn't burn his hand as soon as he touched it.
Suddenly, Toya shifted where he was and planted a soft kiss on Akito's forehead. Akito lay there, trying to stop the blush from forming on his face. Spoiler: he couldn't stop it. He shoved his face into the gap between Toya's head and shoulder blade.
The red basically consumed him. He could hear Toya's quiet laugh as he made a groan of annoyance.
☆Morning☆
His eyes opened to orange hair almost penetrating his eye. Toya turned to the side enough that it wouldn't bother the boy next to him. Then, he wiggled an arm out of his grip, grabbing at the area on the side table where he believed his phone was.
Instead, he poked the book he'd been reading before sleeping, the lamp, and finally found a phone-shaped object. He pulled it over his face, careful not to drop it onto his face. Turns out Toya had taken Akito's phone by accident, but did it really matter?
His eyes widened at Akito's lockscreen. It was a picture of himself, a photo Akito had snuck while they were out on a date.
Wait, this was only last week, he knew that his partner's lockscreen would probably be something like that, but he didn't think it would be from this month even. His cheeks flushed, but he got what he came for, it was 9:47 a.m. He dropped the phone back where he'd found it and scooted towards Akito.
‘Five more minutes wouldn't hurt, right?’ It was a Sunday and they didn't have any practice. He'd just rest and close his eyes, then get up and start his day.
Before he closed his eyes, Toya realized something. There was a damp spot on his nightwear. He sighed as he realized the truth, ‘Akito drooled while sleeping again…’
He closed his heavy eyelids and drifted off once again.
When he woke up, Toya was in bed alone. But he knew he wasn't truly alone, he could smell something cooking just outside the door. Its scent was absolutely heavenly, better than anything he could ever make.
He rolled around for a bit, trying to make an excuse not to check out the smell. He really didn't want to get up. He knew he'd slept in much longer than 5, heck, even 10 minutes. He felt the afternoon sun warm on his skin.
He rolled off the bed with a loud noise. He didn't care, so he just laid on the floor, tired. He heard two pairs of feet moving closer. Ena opened the door first, Akito peering over her shoulder. He pushed past Ena, who followed suit after dusting off her shoulder.
“Toya, man, you good?”
He held out an arm, which Toya took.
“Good morning,” Ena said, "It's about to be twelve o'clock.”
Dang, he slept in that late? Maybe reading a novel right before bed wasn't such a good idea.
“What's that smell?”
Akito smiled and led him out to the kitchen. Toya looked over the stove, wary that almost anything his hands touched would, without fail, ruin the food.
“Pancakes?”
“Close, we're making crepes.”
He'd heard of those before. Vivid Bad SQUAD had actually tried them once before at Phoenix Wonderland, when Kohane took them out to see Wonderlands x Showtime perform.
He glanced past the stovetop to assortment of fruit in the sink, drying off after being washed. Ena had returned to what he suspected was her job before Toya had fallen. She was stirring a large glass bowl of a thick, fluffy consistency. Whipped cream.
No wonder it smelled so good. He thanked the Shinonomes for preparing the food and sat in the living room to wait. He wondered about a few things, whether he should finish that book he was reading, where Ena and Akito learned to cook, and a few other things.
He decided to text his siblings, they knew he was over here, but he wanted to say good morning.
12:01 p.m.
Toya: Good Morning.
Kanade: hi
Saki: me and Tsukasa say hi!
Minori: hello everyone
12:02 p.m.
Saki: Everybody's nice and safe right?
Kanade: me and mafuyu are getting lunch rightnow
Minori: I'm in the house
Toya: I'm still at Akito's
Saki: Tsukasa says hi!
Kanade: so do we
Minori: typing…
Toya looked up from his phone. It seemed that Ena had finished the whipping cream and was setting up a platter to serve lunch. Breakfast? Brunch.
“Everyone says hello.”
Akito and Ena looked up at the same time.
“Who's everyone?”
They said at the same time. Then they looked at each other in shock.
“Tsukasa, Saki, Minori, Kanade, plus Mafuyu.”
☆Brunch☆
Everything looked amazing, even he and Ena were surprised at how good the food looked. Toya's jaw was on the floor. Hell, it all smelled ten times better. The sweet smell of sugar, berries, whipped cream and so much more. It was basically a very unhealthy All-you-can-eat but with crepes.
Ena had scooped the whipped cream into three smaller containers, one for each of them. The berries were sorted into a rainbow in the top half of the plate, ready to be toppings.
Right next to them, the crepes, eighteen to be exact, were laid out. There were also some other extras they'd pulled out of the cupboards. Chocolate, cinnamon and cinnamon sugar, powdered sugar, lemon and lime zest for sourness, even some coffee powder Ena found in the back of the cabinet while searching for breadcrumbs.
“Thank you for the food.”
They all chanted. Akito went straight for the chocolate at the same time as Ena. He grabbed the white chocolate, the best one in his opinion, and Ena went for the milk chocolate with strawberry pieces.
Instead of getting a crepe like a normal person, she bit off a corner of the chocolate instead.
Toya had already saved himself some coffee and two crepes, and secured himself a slab of dark chocolate and blueberries.
minute.
☆After Brunch☆
Later, Akito called An just to brag, which he did, but she also recommended a group sleepover at her place in days to come. But only after yelling at him for a minute.
He and Toya also shared a few quick kisses before he left. Toya tasted way too bitter for him. When he turned, his sister was standing behind him, arms crossed.
“You two really are lovey-dovey. What Mizuki’s been telling me is true.”
“I'll ignore that first part but speaking of Akiyama, where'd they go? They were here last night.”
Ena sighed.
“Not a clue, just messaged me on Nightcord saying something like ‘I skeddaled.’”
“Sure sounds like ‘em.”
