The Greatest Vacation

Summary:

The trio has now arrived in Ionia, the nation if balance and harmony. A place that seems so peaceful. Like an endless dream.

However, how can a dream exist in reality without drama?

Let's just say, that this particular vacation would soon become one of many acts they have performed yet.

And they won't be alone.

Chapter Text

As the sun rose up that warm morning, it shined brightly through the curtains of the bedroom. Where a girl was sleeping soundly in, underneath the covers and sheets.

Her eyes opened slightly once the sun rays shined on her face. She rose up yawning loudly with arms stretched out, as she slowly woke up to the new day.

And when the moment that new day occured to her, her sleepiness snapped away upon realize what today was going to be.

"MOMMY! DADDY! "

Rushing towards her parents room at the other side of the hall, she slammed the door open and jumped onto the bed. Noting that they were still fast asleep under the covers.

"Mommy daddy wake up!" She said excitedly" It's time! We gotta go now!"

Her father woke up first, quick to get up yet groaning from the pain in his chest.

"Kamilah.....perhaps you could possibly wake me up without breaking my ribs..."

"Sorry" she giggled

Her mother woke up next, having been spared from the assault.  His hair was undone and was coming in many directions, yet he still smile with the warmth that she loved so much.

"Good morning dear"

"Morning " Kamilah smiled beamingly "Today's the day isn't it, we're going to Ionia!"

Her mother chuckled at her excitement. It was like when he arrived at piltolver, and was aweing at the hextechnological advancement of the city. And how zaun depsite its grimyness contained a sense of community and even had its own beloved tech using chemical practices.

"Is everything packed up and ready Jhin?" He asked

Jhin, having recovered from the 'attack' let out a slight smirk as he brushed back his hair.

"All packed and ready" He said proudly " And I didn't miss a single item"

Or to be specific, he spent the whole night packing everyone's things. When it came to time constraints, he was very determined to not miss a single thing before they leave.

Hwei had known about this ever since they started becoming a duo. Even now that hasn't changed.

The vacation was not something they had planned in the beginning, but when Kamilah mentioned about Ionia, and with Lincoln staring them down while at  it, they both decided that perhaps a trip back hone wouldn't be so bad after all.

And even with their personal matters, as long as she was happy, they were happy too.

The vacation was going to last for 2 weeks, and for as far as they all knew. This trip was going to be calm and peaceful.

No commissions, no deaths. Just a nice family vacation and a trip down memory lane.

Oh how that would soon change, because like all shows, they never remain so boring.

At all.

LAST TRIP TO IONIA!

ALL PASSENGERS PLEASE WATCH YOUR STEP AS YOU ENTER THE BOAT!

AGAIN, LAST TRIP TO IONIA!

They had arrived at the docks on time just as planned. The three dressed in middle classed attire with all of their bags ready and prepared.

Kamilah watched in awe as the passengers and merchants entered inside of the large vessel. All leading to the nation of Harmony and peace.

She couldn't belive it, she was actually going on a vacation. Something that she thought would never happen in her lifetime.

She almost wanted to cry, yet a gentle hand wiped her tears. She looked up to see Hwei smiling at her, his hand rubbing her hair ever so sweetly.

"Are you ready?" He whispered

She was speechless, yet she nodded without hesitation.

"Just stick with us and everything will be fine"

"Is there something bad over there?" She wondered

"Bad things will occur whenever you go, that is just how living beings are"

"Besides" Jhin then added, in a rather cold tone "If anyone tries to hurt you, they won't even make an inch before they cross paths will me"

He then let out a hum.

"And then...there's the shadow, and the eye of twilight " He said deeply "I wonder if they'll discover our presence, hmmm...."

"Wait!?" Kamilah gasped "What you mean by that!?"

"Ah nothing " He smiled broadly " They won't be much of a problem for you, and  they won't even be a problem for me either"

Kamilah soon realized what he meant.

"Let me guess" she groaned" You did something to make them mad didn't you?"

"Make them mad!?" He gasped dramatically with his hand on his chest "I simply gave them a show, I hardly even laid a finger on their precious lives...yet"

She couldn't help but scowl judgingly. Heavens knows what kind of shenanigans Jhin had done to piss them off.

Hwei tenderly planted a kiss on her cheek, letting her know that everything would be fine.

For now.

Just in time too, the boat was about to leave.

"Ladies first" Jhin bowed towards the stairs

Kamilah let out a cheerful giggle, before she and Hwei went up the steps towards the ship, with Jhin not far behind them.

They went to the farthest seats inside, on the 7th row, just next the most scenic view of the sea.

GOOD MORNING PASSENGERS! PLEASE SIT TIGHT AND RELAX, AS WE TAKE YOU DOWN THE SEA TOWARDS THE NATION OF IONIA!

The steam powered ship began to move, as the boat began to drift away from the docks and away from the city of Piltolver.

The last thing Kamilah saw before the city became out of sight, was the bridge of progress.

Now they were in the middle of the sea and the next chapter of her life began to play before her eyes.

The trip was long yet exciting at the same time. Kamilah could hardly hold her joy as she looked outside of her window to see the vast sea before her.

While she gazed at the beauty of the sea, Jhin and Hwei were currently talking about a matter in silence.

"Once we arrive to Ionia" Hwei asked" What do you think we should do for her?"

Jhin had been thinking about this the entire time. It had been so long since he last been there and who knows what that place is up to.

Or maybe they're still as boring as ever, with thier uninspired festivals and laughably awful plays.

But maybe thar was what Kamilah wanted. After all, it's not about him or hwei anymore.  This vacation is about her.

And whatever she wanted to do, was their choice.

So with that, he smiled. Leaning back on the seat without a care in the world.

"Whatever she wishes to do my dear, if I got the choose then this vacation would be cut short"

"Of course it would" hwei shook his head in disbelief " You are always picky about those things"

"Because if I wasn't, then I wouldn't desire perfection not would I?"

"..."

"Is something bothering your mind again?"

"I'm just thinking...about home"

"..."

"Would she want to see it?"

"If that's what she wants, personally I wouldn't bother"

"And yet...I want her to see, just how you changed everything about me"

"But I didn't change you, I merely opened you "

"I know, and that's why I am changed"

Jhin couldn't help the smirk on his face. Remembering the night the started all of this.

They are a family, a once unobtainable ideal, now a reality before his eyes.

He wondered, how they will react, once the lightbringer shows up on their stages.

They still can a few hours till then, but for now, the three of them merely rested as the day slowly turned into night.

The moment Kamilah saw the islands before her, all she could do was squeal so loud that even the other passengers could hear her.

It took a few minutes till the ship was able to be docked, and once it was time for them all to leave, Kamilah made no hesitation rushing head first out of the ship. Jumping from step to step till she was finally on the docks.

There she was greeted by the most beautiful thing she had ever seen, a massive market of people and festivities. With plant life so lush that it was like she was looking though an actual painting. Yet instead of just seeing it. She could feel the atmosphere on her skin.

"THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER!!!" She squealed

Her outburst caused the other passengers to smile. The usual reaction of a child seeing the world for the first time.

Her parents were not far behind, smiling warmly at her bright yellow joy.  Hwei even made a square out of his hands, imagining the painting he will make of her someday.

Or possibly once this trip is over.

But for now, the two picked her up from the floor as Jhin said warmly to her.

"Yes my dear, welcome to Ionia"
