Work Text:
'Minjeong Minjeong Minjeong'. This very thought was on a loop in Jimin’s mind. 'Minjeong this, Minjeong that’, the raven girl was actually on the edge of losing her marbles. Even now, as she was having a fight with two villains in the streets of the city at 5am, crushing a criminal’s jaw in the process, all she could think of was how Minjeong would want her eggs in the morning. 'Over easy? Yeah no she is definitely more of a Sunny side up type of person.' Thought the girl, smiling, as she dodged an easy stab coming from one of them and busted the criminal’s nuts.
Apparently, the guy with a jaw no longer straight didn’t get enough as he charged at the raven girl. Too bad for him, Jimin was too fast and shot him a web in the face, blocking his view, and threw him into the nearest garbage container.
"Damn you guys never learn… When was the last time I beat your ass?" Said the girl, rubbing her hands against her costume. Their faces were all way too familiar to the raven girl’s liking. She had nothing against persevering criminals (she had everything against them though) but there were enough delinquents incoming nowadays and she certainly didn’t want to deal with persistent one’s. 'Like, get it already, Minjeong would get it. She’s so smart, oh my god I miss her.' Jimin pouted, she couldn’t wait to see her tomorrow.
Checking her watch, she sighed as she realized that tomorrow turned to later and that she would not get a blink of sleep once again. 'Well, at least I can count the hours left until I’ll get to see her I guess.'
The sound of cans clanking against themselves and the murmurs of someone could be heard in the garbage container as the criminal slowly got out of it. He only managed to get his head out of the trash though. Seoul was a clean city meaning the trash was more than full, not empty at all.
"Come again?" Said Jimin. She was tired from fighting stupid men with no skills. Ideally she would like to get no sleep for a skillful opponent, not that she wanted to end up bruised or anything. She just wanted to feel like her lack of sleep was not worthless. What she meant by that was that the police could definitely deal with those kinds of criminals. However, even if she wanted to rest, she’ll still worry and still get no sleep anyway.
"Last month?" It erupted a sigh from the girl’s mouth, once again. She stopped keeping count this morning after her roommate Yizhuo told her things about her sweet relationship with none other than Ning Aeri, Jimin’s dear friend. They were a pain in the ass, Jimin was single and very much depressed thinking about her likely unrequited love yet they still rubbed their happiness to her face. Congratulations for living your best life, me next when please. Thought the raven as she groaned in despair.
"What about doing something about your damn crush, loser." Jimin cringed and sighed at what her roommate said to her this morning. It’s not that she liked her best friend to the point of being obsessed. She considered herself sane. How? You would think, right? Well she wasn’t a weirdo like Edward, she never entered Minjeong’s apartment to watch her in her sleep. Not that she had the time to do it anyway. She almost lost herself in her thoughts but the police siren brought her back on earth. As she was about to fly away she gave a last look at the guy in the garbage container, the other was still probably dreaming about whatever he fantasized about.
"Don’t try to stab someone if you don’t even know how to do it dummy, you’ll end up getting hurt instead."
The raven girl didn’t wait for an answer as she climbed the buildings around her right before the police arrived. She always made sure to call them before she intervened for safety measures and also because she wasn’t a part of the police so she couldn’t officially turn them in. After all she didn’t even have handcuffs, even though she could easily craft some with her spider webs anyway. She made sure the two criminals were arrested before flying from building to building. If she read it well, she had exactly 2 hours and 29 minutes before she had to leave for university.
Two choices were offered to her, either she’ll just go back home and sleep for an hour (if her roommate was not awake yet) or she could just fly freely in the streets of Seoul for the next two hours. Slight bonus for the second choice as she’ll get to watch the sunrise. This last information seemed to have convinced the girl as it pushed her to take the second choice. She knew a place that was close to heaven to watch a sunrise, she used to take Aeri there back then when university didn’t get both their asses. Yes, Aeri was surprisingly the only one who knew about her biggest secret, well actually she knew all her secrets. Her being totally in love with her best friend and her being Spidergirl.
Now that she deeply thought about it she kind of felt conflicted over it. Minjeong, her best friend, someone who was supposed to know everything about her life, knew next to nothing about her. She knew about her fear of pigeons, that she wears her rosary ring during exams as a lucky charm and likes pineapple on pizzas. But beside that, she was almost an outsider in Jimin’s life.
“Oof that hurt.”
Jimin felt like a betrayer for not telling anything to her best friend, keeping everything from her. She knew for sure that if her secret was to be revealed, Minjeong would have every right to feel betrayed and hurt. She knew that, however, that didn’t necessarily make her pop to Minjeong’s apartment in her costume with no mask on.
Throwing one last web, the girl finally reached the rooftop of one of the highest buildings in Seoul, she didn’t really have the approval to come up there but did she care? Absolutely not. A laugh came out of Jimin’s lips, the beers and Aeri’s rotten chairs were still very much there.
Back then she would take Aeri there and they would talk and laugh all night without a care in the world. That was their daily life until both of them got busy. Aeri took the business path and it’s not far-fetched to say she just had the time to kiss Yizhuo before falling into a slumber into her lover’s arms.
As for Jimin, she’s in the same class as Minjeong and Yizhuo, it wasn’t a major as busy as Aeri’s but still the level was a bit high. Even if it was hard to admit, Jimin was a bit at a loss there, the expectations were a bit overwhelming but she somehow managed to get through it. But of course she had to get bitten in her first year which added even more difficulties. In addition to having to manage her grade, she also had to control, to tame her new… Potential?
Out of sight, Jimin finally removed her mask and almost moaned at the fresh air hitting her face. She liked to keep her identity safe from the world but sometimes she wished she could just remove her mask whenever it would get too hot. However it was useful when she had to fight, she didn't know what she would do if her hair got in the way all the time. A breeze tickled her nose and she decided to have a seat. The rotten chairs were still very comfy, despite their hideous looking due to the humidity gnawing at it, it once again made Jimin feel nostalgic.
She thought about the life she was leading before she got bitten. It was nothing, really, she had a mundane daily life. She was living the cliche of a university student: having fun every month at parties, crying over the studying she had to do if she wanted to pass, heart beating every time she got close to her best friend.
She didn’t miss her old life, far from it, but sometimes she couldn’t help but wonder what it felt like not to have such high responsibilities and basically how it felt to sleep 8 hours straight without worrying about villains taking a life away. ‘With power comes heavy responsibilities I guess.’ Thought Jimin, her life used to be so peaceful yet incredibly boring.
It was as if her bite knew she was thinking of it as it suddenly started to sting. Jimin removed her gloves and desperately scratched at her bite, wanting the pain gone. It was no longer visible but she still could remember the pain she felt when that damn spider bit on her hand. It was at night, she and Aeri snuck out of their apartment. Yes, snuck out because Yizhuo would have stormed out of her room to forbid them to go out at that hour. The girl would have been right though, because even if she did snick out, Jimin knew deep down that something was off about that night. ‘Always trust your instinct.’ Jimin sneered at that thought.
They snuck out for the dumbest idea ever. To egg Shin Ryujin’s house. That was one of the many reasons why Yizhuo didn’t know anything about this. She was too nice anyway. She would have told them to calm down, that doing that was just as bad as what that whore did (but they’re no fools, they know Yizhuo would have done worse, way worse..). The thing is that, both Aeri and Jimin agreed on that, you cannot hurt someone in their friends circle. By playing with their friend’s heart, Choi Jisu’s, the only option was for her to go to hell.
Sure they could have left her and her shitty behaviour alone but instead they bought eggs in the nearest 7/11 and threw them at that pig’s walls. It was when they waited near the bushes for the dumb girl to come out of her house that she got bit. The yelp she let out almost got them caught but hopefully they left before Ryujin could see them and end their life.
A few days after the incident, Jimin was in bed with a fever, one she’s never experienced before. She at some point thought she was going insane as she could feel and hear everything with an extreme intensity. She remembers the time she heard suspicious noises coming from Yizhuo’s room. It wasn’t new to Jimin, not to say she grew accustomed to it but she somehow was familiar with it, however this time it was different. She heard everything and all too well as if she was in the same room as them.
The next day she couldn’t look either Yizhuo or Aeri in the eyes without furiously blushing, earning confused looks from both her roommate and friend.
Eventually she got better, that day Yizhuo was not there. She skipped too many classes and was kindly reminded by her teachers at university that her presence was not optional but mandatory. That morning she pouted at Jimin and apologized a hundred times before leaving but not without telling her that Aeri would come to make sure she was okay. Jimin didn’t have a say in all of this as Yizhuo shushed her immediately.
At some point, Jimin tried to get up as she smelled food in the kitchen, Aeri was probably heating some cans up. Her feet on the floor, her body finally in an other position than laid down, the girl started hopping as a little recovery dance but what she didn’t expect was to jump so high she hit the ceiling. Falling on her butt, she let out a cry. It intensified when she saw the large hole her head made on the ceiling, at that moment she didn’t even think about the near zero possibilities of jumping that high, all she could think of was the face Yizhuo was going to make once she saw this. Aeri must have caught the mess the crying girl made as Jimin heard her hurried steps coming.
“Don’t come in!!!” Shouted the raven girl, she was definitely not ready to explain why a damn hole figured in the ceiling. Heck she didn’t even know how in the hell she could jump that high. With no care for what Jimin had said, Aeri opened the door frantically only to get hit by a spider web.
“The fuck is this Jimin?!! Ew!!!” Screamed Aeri, clearly disgusted by whatever was splattered on her face.
And rest is history.
Content with the sunrise she had just seen, she took the remaining beers on the floor as she reminded herself to throw them away, and jumped on the empty streets as the city was yet to wake up.

Now that she was in the bus, freshly showered and all dolled up, she forgot that going to school also meant seeing the actual Kim Minjeong. Yes, she was sure as hell not prepared to see her, yet, her very best friend was there beside her, caressing her forearm while talking about a class they have in common. Jimin couldn’t think of anything other than ‘She’s touching my arm. Minjeong is touching me. What if she notices how hot my skin is because of her?’
Minjeong was the exact definition of the perfect human being, whether it was about her personality or her beauty. She was just too good to live in this shitty world. Sporting blonde shoulder-length hair, it complemented her flawless face. And her eyes… Jimin could and would deliberately lose herself in it, diving into them as much as she could. There was something special about them, either it was their round shaped orbs or it was the honey colour in Minjeong’s eyes whenever she looked at the sun. Jimin couldn’t really tell. However, if there was something she could tell with certainty, it was that Kim Minjeong was the purest human on earth. Did she already say how beautiful her eyes were?
“Hello? Earth to Jimin?” That seemed to shake Jimin out of her reverie as she opened her eyes widely, furiously blushing. She instantly felt guilty as she saw a pout on Minjeong’s face. If she wanted something on Minjeong’s face, it was a smile to take place on it, certainly not a pout. God she hated herself for that. Though the pout made her look cute.. And those lips.. Jimin has to admit that she may have dreamed about kissing those very lips multiple times. I’m sorry Minjeong-ah, you’ll probably hate me if you knew that right? Thought the oldest. The girl suddenly realized she was once again daydreaming when her best friend was in front of her, waiting for an answer.
“Sorry Minjeong-ah I- I didn’t sleep that well.. You know what? Let’s stop at that cafe you like before classes, I could use some energy. My treat.” At that, Minjeong’s face instantly lit up, Jimin knew the girl would never say no to an iced coffee in the morning. Minjeong excitedly pulled on the bus’ strings to get off and took Jimin’s hand as they almost ran in the streets.
Minjeong’s hands were warm and the most surprising thing about them was how big they were, like really big (they have a normal size, Jimin just hates to admit that she’s the one with small hands). She could really get used to it, holding hands with Minjeong while going to a cafe or university. That was until her spidey senses told her something was wrong in the area. Not a big deal but still, she got the urge to help whoever was in need, even if it meant she had to let go of Minjeong’s hand.
“Hey something important came up, a Aeri type of problem haha you know. I swear I’ll be back before you know.” Jimin began to fidget, she couldn’t just ignore what her spider senses were telling her, however she felt once again guilty as Minjeong’s face fell in utter confusion, the girl had no idea what was a ‘Aeri type of problem’. She hated the fact that she had to lie to her. The girl didn’t know how to lighten the atmosphere so she stuck to lightly punch the blonde girl in the shoulder, giving her her best smile. Jimin hated herself for being this awkward.
“Take my card with you, you know the code right?” Asked Jimin, the poor girl could not stay still as her feet were already moving on their own. She really wished Minjeong wasn’t paying attention to her weird behaviour or else she’ll just dig a grave for herself. She was waiting for her best friend's answer, everything was set in her mind. As soon as she’ll get the wanted answer she will be off in a secluded alley to put on her costume and then she’ll just fly away, hoping that no one will see her. Yes, that was the plan.
“The usual?” Jimin nodded before sprinting off in an alley without glancing back at Minjeong, if only she did, she would have seen a disappointed blonde girl watching her go away.
Finally in a secluded alley, Jimin dropped her bag on the ground and started searching for her costume. Unlike most comics super heroes, the poor girl didn’t have her costume underneath her normal clothes. In terms of design, it wasn’t the best, it was a bit thick and she knew that she'd just end up sweaty and if Jimin didn’t want something to happen to her, it was to stink.
She could already imagine what the headlines’ title would be. Spidergirl, a hero or a villain for the population’s nose? Dread consumed the raven girl but she shook those horrendous thoughts and instead focused on the task at hand.
Putting on her costume with difficulty, she was starting to rethink all her choices. Why is it that tight? Did I gain weight? She almost collided with the trash can that was keeping her identity safe from pedestrians because of how difficult it was to put on the costume.
Right before someone entered the alley she hid her bag and shot a web at one of the building’s rooftops surrounding her and flew away.
_____________________
Now that she was on the rooftop of a building she could see everything that was currently happening before her eyes, crouched down, she laughed at her position. If only people looked up from their smartphones and saw her, they would have easily compared her to the protagonist of assassin’s creed. Their only difference? She didn’t kill. Her attention back on the streets she immediately caught on the problem thanks to her ‘new’ power, her view actually got a lot better. Though it was a pain to explain to her friends why she didn’t need to wear her glasses nor her contact lenses anymore.
However she couldn’t contain her laugh when she saw who was running after what seemed to be a thief who likely stole their bag. Are you kidding me? Thought the heroine. She jumped in the air before shooting webs on the side of every building in order to get closer to the two persons running. When she got close enough she simply shot a web to the thief’s legs, making him trip and fall hard, face first, on the ground. Joining the thief, she stole the bag from his hand and turned around, meeting an all too familiar face. The woman in front of her was heavily panting, passing a hand in her black hair to put some order in it. Jimin couldn’t help but laugh at her dear friend.
“Ah.. how many times did I tell you to be careful with your stuff..” Said Spidergirl with a hint of teasing, to her friend’s dismay. The poor Aeri was still catching her breath and on top of that she had to be lectured by her friend, who happened to do anything but be careful about her things. The audacity.
“Thanks unnie, you know that I love you and that I would looove to have a small talk with you but you know.. University’s got my ass and I definitely don’t want to see Miss Bae mad at me on a Monday morning. See you at lunch? And if not tonight.” Said the woman in a rush, not even waiting for an answer. Not that she needed one anyway, knowing that Aeri was coming back home to Yizhuo, who was her dear roommate. They’ll see each other, that is certain.
Jimin made sure that the thief was still stuck on the floor and called the cops on him. Just as she did so, she noticed the several messages Minjeong sent her within a few minutes saying she indeed got their orders and was walking to the university. She almost bit her fist when she saw a few messages containing sad emojis. “:((( are you almost finished? :(“ At that the raven almost threw her phone in her pocket and flew at high speed and never stopped flying until she glanced at a girl around her age carrying two drinks.
Minjeong.
Smiling to herself she took her time to look at her a little bit more. She was about to turn around and get back to the alley to finally quit this horrendous costume and get her backpack back but once again her spidey senses tingled something in her. Seems like it was right as she arrived at the perfect time. The poor girl dropped one of the drinks after tripping over a long hose, but of course Jimin was fast enough to catch it with her webs. With no webs shot anymore, Jimin landed right in front of Minjeong with a smile no one could see but she hoped that the girl would hear it with how joyful her voice sounded.
“There you go.” Said Spidergirl to the student who was speechless, her jaw hanging open with surprise. Jimin didn’t know what possessed her as she held Minjeong’s chin between her fingers and closed her mouth in such a seductive way, leaving the poor girl in distress, an evident blush on her face. Even though her costume was a pain in the ass sometimes, this time, she was so thankful to have it.
“Thank you..?” Minjeong honestly didn’t know what to say other than to thank the hero, she was in a daze. She was thankful her voice came out without stuttering. She led a battle against herself at this point.
“It’s nothing for a girl as pretty as you.” And with this last sentence, Jimin flew away. She didn’t know if her heart could handle it, it was the first time she made her best friend that red. Touching her face through her mask she could feel how hot her cheeks were. If Minjeong had burning cheeks then she had boiling ones.
As soon as she got in the alley she got off her costume and checked her phone for potential messages and she couldn’t hold the smile that made its way to her face when she read Minjeong’s messages. “I HAVE SOMETHING TO TELL YOU OMG WHAT HAPPENED?!?”
______________________
“And then she disappeared!” Finished Minjeong, out of all her friends on the table Jimin was the only one closely listening to her. Not that she would do something else, listening to Minjeong was her favourite moment of the day. She could almost go as far as to say that it made her day when her best friend talked about something mundane in such a passionate state. Even though she wanted to bury herself as the current topic was about Spidergirl slash her, it still made her incredibly happy and above all proud.
Minjeong groaned as almost no one paid attention to her. Jimin felt pained at what was happening in front of her. Yeah sure she was listening but she already knew the whole story as the girl made sure to tell her every detail remaining in her mind before she forgets them all. However, it seems like Minjeong wanted to share this not only with her but also with everyone on the table, unfortunately they all seemed to be focused on something else. On the one hand Aeri and Yizhuo were busy being lovey-dovey as always, sometimes Jimin selfishly wished Aeri didn’t have enough time to join them for lunch. Yizhuo always gets distracted whenever Aeri is around which makes her the only one responsible.
On the other hand Ryujin and Jisu were studying for their approaching exams. After Jimin and Aeri got involved in the couple’s fights they somehow managed to solve whatever problems they used to have last year. However, that didn’t happen without tears shed and slaps given (and eggs thrown at someone’s house, Ryujin didn’t have to know that). Nonetheless they seemed to be finally on the same page, not that it made their relationship less toxic though.
Jimin watched Minjeong lazily pick her food on her plate, disappointment was all over her face and the raven girl couldn’t help but feel sad about it. Clearing her throat loudly, Jimin brought the topic back, to Minjeong’s relief.
“Aeri, didn’t you tell me you walked into Spidergirl as well this morning?” Asked the girl. She obviously already knew the answer as she was literally the one who helped her but she would do anything for Minjeong. Speaking of Minjeong, all her attention was directed towards Aeri at the mention of Spidergirl. On the other hand, Aeri lifted her head and gave Jimin a quizzical look. However, that didn’t refrain her from answering and probably (re)start the topic Minjeong was interested in.
“Yeah she helped me get my bag back. I swear if I had more time I would have busted that thief’s balls.” Both Jimin and Aeri laughed at the memory of the thief stuck to the ground but their laughter quickly died when Minjeong interrupted them.
“When was it?” The fork as well as the plate long forgotten, Minjeong asked Aeri with such dedication. To say that the girl was invested in the conversation was an understatement. It was undeniably endearing according to Jimin. Aeri shook herself out of her reverie and separated from her lover’s neck, to Yizhuo’s disappointment.
“Didn’t you tell me it was around 8:30?” Nonchalantly said Yizhuo as she nudged her girlfriend, the girl was still sleepy from her morning classes which was understandable but was still sporting her charming smile nonetheless. Aeri nodded at Yizhuo as an answer and went on her phone. It’s not that the topic was not interesting to her but once she got to know who Spidergirl was (which she learned at the beginning), she could not feel particularly hyped whenever the character was mentioned. After all, the notorious hero happened to be the biggest loser in her friends circle, Yu Jimin.
“Did you.. talk with her or something?” Aeri didn’t leave her eyes away from her phone as she naturally answered.
“Yeah I had a small chat with her, she’s nice? Why though?” What Minjeong didn’t know was that Aeri was actually chatting with Jimin. “Bro tf am I supposed to tell her” “Bro idk just help me out.” Aeri couldn’t help but to sneer at her friend’s message, the poor girl was in panic over nothing. It’s not like she made her biggest move on Minjeong while she was Spidergirl, she just helped her so why did she react that way? “Pussy” Sent Aeri, drinking her apple juice and earned a kick under the table from Jimin.
“She literally flirted with me.”
At this Aeri almost spat her juice all over the table, Yizhuo had to reach for a napkin because a few drops fell on Ryujin and Jisu’s flashcards. Needless to say that the business student earned a glare from the two girls, who, until now, were very much silent. She quickly apologized and immediately settled her eyes on Jimin's. The said girl was turning from pale to red in an instant.
“She flirted with you uh?” Aeri couldn’t help but subtly tease Jimin, she knew the girl was just waiting for her grave to be dug for her to jump in it and never come back from the dead.
“Now that I think about it, her voice was kind of similar to yours Jimin.” Thought Minjeong out loud as she remembered her interaction with Spidergirl. At this, an alarm started ringing loudly in Jimin’s mind as distress made its way through her face. Aeri averted her eyes from her phone to silently support her friend as she saw her nervous state.
‘You can handle it bro’ Thought Aeri, her friend might be a loser, a clumsy and a nervous ass yet she believes in her.
“You think so? Haha I’m so lucky then!” Said Jimin, totally red, a hand in her hair in order to pass as casual yet looked all but relaxed. Her posture as well as her expressions screamed lies.
Aeri facepalmed.
_____________________
The spring quickly passed by, and it had left the place for the summer. Interactions between Minjeong and Spidergirl kept on happening for a few months to both best friend's happiness.
On one hand Jimin was living her best life, it seems like her best friend was finally starting to see her in a new light (without her knowing that Spidergirl was her but it doesn’t matter).
On the other hand, Minjeong was slowly getting eager to meet Spidergirl and couldn’t help but gush over the hero during lunch time to Aeri’s dismay.
Aeri, in all that, had enough of listening to Minjeong’s stories about her dear coward friend who made moves on her best friend while she was with her costume on. Making moves on Minjeong is good, Aeri was proud but oh, never with her mask off of course.
“What did she do this time??” Eagerly asked Yizhuo, if the girl didn’t show interest a few months ago, it was definitely not the case anymore. It was as though Minjeong’s new potential love interest (Jimin was shaking uncontrollably) was Yizhuo’s new favourite show.
“I forgot my umbrella yesterday and you saw how crazy it was raining, right?” Asked the girl and quickly continued when she got an immediate nod. “I was stuck under the bus stop and she came with an umbrella and said ‘I wouldn't want you to get sick.’”
Screams erupted from Yizhuo’s mouth and Aeri seriously thought of strangling the all too smiley girl in front of her. Yes, she was talking about Jimin. She wanted to tear down that smug face so bad.
As for Jimin, she was living in a dream, at least that’s what she thought. She had the chance to witness her best friend gushing about her, HER. ‘Oh what a good day to be alive.’ Thought the hero, a few details here and there were kind of forgotten in the explanation coming from the blonde but it was only logical as she didn’t know what Jimin went through to get her an umbrella.
The truth is that she actually stole an umbrella from someone and promised to get them another one. She left a small note saying “Hey, this is Spidergirl, your friendly neighbour. I desperately needed an umbrella so I stole took yours! :) please take this as an exchange. Thanks!!” with candies thrown around.
So yes, Jimin was smiling like crazy because what she’s been doing seems to be working, but quickly shook herself out of the reverie as she felt her phone vibrate in her pocket. She made sure to read the message before Minjeong could see it, not that the girl would though as she was too busy talking about her dear interactions with Spidergirl. Jimin smiled at this but her smile dropped as soon as she read Aeri’s message.
“When are u gonna confess?” Jimin’s face turned pale. She looked at the girl in front of her and was met with a bored girl munching on her fork made of carton.
“Idk I’m not sure it’s the right timing.” Answered Jimin and got startled when she heard a scoff coming from Aeri. Not that the two girls talking about Spidergirl heard though.
“You're a pussy she’s clearly interested in you, I mean listen to her she’s so whipped brooo.” A blush gets on Jimin's face, if Minjeong’s whipped then what is she? A dog?
“She likes Spidergirl, not me. I might be her but we’re still two different people you know.” The phone back in Jimin’s pocket, the girl suddenly got moody. She didn’t have to be reminded that her best friend was talking about the hero she was, not her true self. Aeri looked at her with what seemed to be pity or maybe sympathy. Maybe she felt the need to change the hero's mood as she talked for the first time since the beginning of the lunch break.
“Stop gushing over her, maybe she’s a loser who watches Crayon Shinchan in her free time, you never know.” Said Aeri with teasing eyebrows however the girl was quick to disagree.
“Nah, she didn’t seem like it…” Said Minjeong, deep in her thoughts.
‘Oh fuck me’ Thought Jimin.
___________________
For a long time, Jimin was content with making moves on Minjeong while being Spidergirl and keeping the best friend tag while being Jimin. However she knew it would soon become a problem. Lies always come with bad things and the hero was scared her best friend would react badly if she found out who was beneath the mask before she had the time to tell her herself. (Or just in general, she was scared of Minjeong’s reaction over all)
It was logical, if Jimin was in Minjeong’s place, she would explode at the news. It’s only normal, after all she’s witnessed her being whipped about the hero when it was in reality about her. She would feel betrayed and above all humiliated.
So Jimin has thought about it for weeks now, how she should tell her best friend that she has powers indeed and that she’s been her love interest for a long time without her knowing (and that it is very much mutual!!). Yes her brain has been through a lot, Jimin would go as far as to say it boiled and never regenerated at this point.
Insecurities made their way in Jimin’s mind and it is needless to say that the girl wasn’t keen on it. ‘Will she be disappointed once she’ll get to know who hides beneath Spidergirl?’ Thought Jimin, then ‘She’s not going to ignore me, right?’
Yes, the girl was getting a little stressed over it, just a little bit.
Hence the reason she was at her favourite spot at 5am with a bottle of coke in her hands, silently watching the sunrise with the traffic sound in the background.
There was something calming about the sunrise and the traffic sound. Some people need music to be calm but right now, Jimin felt at peace, almost. She didn’t know why but her spidey senses have been on alert since this morning and she couldn’t find the reason. The city was calm and the criminals were oddly not out today. Not that she would complain about it, it’s been a while since she’s had the opportunity to rest, but it was just too odd.
Her phone in her hand in a flash, she sent a message to Aeri but didn’t have a lot of faith in her friend to receive an answer before 7am but was quickly proved wrong.
“Something’s off today, my spidey senses are going overboard.. :( plz tell me you heard bad news or sum bc I really can’t get my head around why I’m so stressed for what seems to be nothing”
“Don’t know dude, seems like a good day to me, just got back from my jogging so I’m fresh 💅🏻 you should just chill you’re too uptight sometimes 🙄”
Yeah it certainly did help.
So she did what every student would do on a normal school day, she came back home, took a shower, got ready and joined her best friend at the bus stop with an uneasy feeling gnawing at her.
______________________
“You’re weird today Jimin, actually you’ve been weird for a while. Is everything alright?” Asked Minjeong, the concern was evident in the student’s eyes and Jimin couldn’t help but feel guilty. She thought she was a good actor but guess she turns out to be a transparent person.
“Ah, yes I’m just worried about the upcoming exams that’s all…” Feet constantly hitting the floor, nibbling on her pen, yeah Jimin was doing such a poor job at passing as chill.
They were in the amphitheater waiting for the teacher to show the tip of her nose and Minjeong was eyeing her weirdly. After all she was on her 5th coffee since their first class and it was only 10am. Oh and also, she absolutely despises coffee, the taste it leaves on her tongue always makes her want to throw up and of course it was an information Minjeong knew of.
So obviously it surprised the latter when Jimin took her expresso like tequila shots without as much as flinching.
“You know you can tell me everything right?” Crashing the carton in her hand in one motion, Jimin put her trash along the four other cups before turning to Minjeong but luckily Yizhuo came running towards them, seemingly late (Jimin would say it’s like this most of the time but Yizhuo would always say otherwise). Yizhuo for once came in the form of an angel, a saviour in Jimin’s eyes as she finally let out a sigh of relief. She wasn’t ready to have a conversation with Minjeong about her current worries.
‘I’m stressed because my spidey senses are going into overdrive, ah yes I’m Spidergirl, you wouldn’t have guessed right? And also I love you, like a lot, but I don’t know how to tell you. I’m also terrified of getting rejected and ghosted by my best friend.’ Well, it was definitely not the right timing to drop such a bomb on the student as they were about to have classes with Ms.Park.
“Hey shawties !! I got stuck in the traffic..” Her butt on the uncomfortable seats, she had managed to make a mess already as all her stuff was everywhere on the table they were sharing. Top bag, pencil cases and hundreds of notepads. In addition to having an addiction to stickers she also had an addiction over notepads.
“More like stuck in bed with Aeri uh? You two don’t know how to be quiet…” Teased the hero, wiggling her eyebrows at the blushing girl. The girl stuck her tongue out while putting her hair behind her ears, a habit she had whenever she felt embarrassed.
“The hell is that..?” Yizhuo pointed at the trash slash cups of coffee Jimin made sure to crush. Jimin was about to answer but Minjeong beat her to it.
“Jimin’s. She’s been all weird since this morning and she won't tell me about it.” Jimin didn’t have to turn around to know that her best friend was indeed pissed at her, unfortunately.
‘Exactly why I hate to hide things from her.’ Thought the student as she closed her eyes for a few seconds, feeling trapped. Meeting her roommate’s eyes she hoped the latter would help her but the woman straight up ignored her, leaving her by herself. What a roomie.
She then turned towards the board as the teacher seemed to have arrived, Jimin didn’t need to have a third eye to feel the curious look she was getting from Yizhuo and the disappointed one she was getting from Minjeong.
´I’ll tell her, just not right now.’
____________________
“Ok bro what’s going on? You’re making Minjeong suspicious, even Yizhuo’s eyeing you weird and you know how she doesn’t really care about anything.” Asked Aeri in a hurry.
It was lunch time and Aeri had grabbed her by the collar to Minjeong and Yizhuo’s surprise and took her to the nearest toilet. She made sure to check if the stalls were empty then bombarded Jimin with questions.
“I don’t know, I told you! My spidey senses.. They've been triggered since this morning and I can’t get my head around it.” Said Jimin in a hurry, she was tightly clutching her hair in a poor attempt to clear her mind but it inevitably turned out to be a failure. Aeri had never seen her friend being such a mess so even she got nervous at some point.
“And has it occurred to you that maybe they might be wrong?? Can’t you like, turn them off?” Hissed Aeri, she saw how desperate her friend was so even the dumb solutions came out of her mouth. At her friend’s reaction she quickly understood how dumb they actually were.
“No way I could do that! And it’s not only the spidey senses now, even my guts are telling me that something’s gonna happen… Aeri I swear to god I’m going crazy.” Whined Jimin, making a silly face. If they were not in a serious conversation, Jimin would have passed as a child making a tantrum but really, she was just in so much stress that she couldn’t even keep her calm.
“Weirdo.. Just stay on your guard I guess.. But what could happen? I mean no one knows your identity except me that I’m sure and there’s like, non super villain so.. You’re quite safe.”
“Yeah but what if it’s not about me but about one of you?..” After this question, the two friends both looked at each other, finally realizing that they were indeed not safe and that being a hero may come with power and special abilities but that it doesn’t come with invulnerability. Jimin cannot be everywhere, the girl was painfully aware, but what if one of them suddenly gets hurt while she’s out there patrolling? She would not be able to forgive herself.
There was the underside of what being a hero consists of. Having powers but not being able to help people with it. Jimin hated it, why would she get powers if it was not to help the people she loves? ‘I hate it I hate it I fucking hate it!’ Thought Jimin, still in the midst of turmoil.
No one dared to speak for a few minutes, then Aeri opened her mouth to say something just to be cut by a bunch of girls entering the toilets.
“We’ll talk about it later, be careful in the meantime and I’ll be careful on my end.”
When they got out of the stall, it is needless to say that they both received weird glances from the girls checking their makeup in the mirror. Well two girls coming out of the same cubicle was kind of weird, that they had to admit, but they wouldn’t care less. Come on, they were Jimin the awkward loser and Aeri the breathtaking business student. Their friendship was already weird to begin with, but none of them would have wanted to change, things were fine just the way they were.

“Jimin, can I have a word with you? Alone?” Minjeong asked the raven girl. The three of them were about to head to their afternoon classes when Minjeong stopped in the middle. Yizhuo, who's usually oblivious, got the message instantly and headed to class alone with the promise to save seats for them. Jimin on the other hand was sweating bullets as she locked eyes with an annoyed Minjeong.
She hated two things: to see Minjeong’s smile disappear, even more when it was her doing and confronting the blonde. Why? Because she couldn’t bear the disapproving look the girl would give her all the time.
“Tell me what it is and why it feels like Aeri already knows about it.” Yes, Jimin was doomed. She didn’t even know how to lie to save her ass, the last time she ever tried she told her teacher in 7th grade that her alligator ate her papers, like what was wrong with her that day.
So she did what she had to do, not lie, but not tell the truth either.
“I- I can’t tell you, I promise it’s not something about you, that would be disrespectful and kind of shitty coming from your best friend. And you know I’m everything but that. It’s just- sometimes there are things you can’t tell someone just to protect them.” Jimin didn’t know where this was going but by the way Minjeong’s face grew more and more disappointed, she knew it was the wrong way.
“Then it is something about me.”
“No! I mean yes but not really! Erh…” There it goes, checkmates. Jimin couldn’t help but facepalm in her mind as she admitted that Minjeong had something to do about it. She cursed herself as she heard Minjeong sigh and saw a hint of hurt in the blonde’s eyes.
“Why do you keep on lying?”
“Technically I’m not lying I’m just not telling you the truth.”
Nice Jimin, what a way to go! Thought Jimin, her face now tensed, Jimin swore Minjeong was about to blow up but then, nothing happened.
“You know what? Nevermind.”
Minjeong turned around and walked, not even sparing Jimin a glance. Jimin was now left alone, wondering why everything keeps on going wrong.
That was what she meant when she said she hated to keep things away from Minjeong, she knew that the girl would keep pestering her to tell her everything. Call her toxic or whatever but Jimin wouldn’t have it any other way. But for the girl to give up on getting the information, yes that’s how Jimin knew she really screwed everything up.
Once in the amphitheater, she could see Minjeong on Yizhuo’s left, clearly putting a wall between the two of them. Taking a seat on Yizhuo’s right side, she received an apologetic smile and Jimin could only shake her head.
It’s my fault after all.
_________________
'Welp, that was expected.' Thought Jimin as she was met with nothing but plain silence. The bus drive back to her condo was awkward and really silent. That wasn’t new, they’ve had lots of fights in the past, they were best friends after all. They would usually give each other enough time to reflect on and calm down then talk about it. But this time, it was different. It wasn’t about some stupid thing, Jimin lied to Minjeong about something concerning her and Minjeong hated dishonest friends above all.
Jimin couldn’t help but to discreetly glance at her best friend. The blonde was busy listening to music with her earbuds, looking through the bus window. They would usually share earbuds but Minjeong made it clear that she was mad at her. A sigh escaped the raven’s mouth as she chose to look before her, her best friend was pretty, way too pretty but if she was to be met with Minjeong’s eyes, she would simply disintegrate (she likes it, but not when she’s mad).
Sweat bullets running on her temple, fingers nervously pinching the skin on her wrist, eyes frantically looking around, body fidgeting on her seat, legs anxiously bouncing, Jimin suddenly remembered that Minjeong’s eyes weren’t the only thing that was churning her stomach apart. She may have forgotten about it for a few minutes but now that she was finally listening to her body and not her thoughts (heart really) her spidey senses went overdrive.
And no matter how mad Minjeong was at her best friend, she just couldn’t ignore Jimin’s condition.
“Hey are you okay?”
“No. Something’s gonna happen, I don’t know what but it's gonna happ-” Before Jimin could finish her sentence, screams could be heard in the front. Focusing on the commotion as soon as it started, she heard that the issue could be broken brakes but she was not sure.
With a last look at Minjeong, she dashed to the front with difficulty as the bus was dodging cars. She heard Minjeong calling for her, telling her to sit back as it was dangerous but she couldn’t care less because if she was right, the bus was going to cross many intersections and it was unlikely that the traffic lights would be green.
“What’s the matter?” Frantically asked Jimin but was instantly shut down by the driver.
“Can’t you see I’m busy trying to keep us all alive?!” Shouted the bus driver, the poor man was trying to press on the brakes but to no avail. Dodging cars at a monstrous speed, the bus picked up even more speed, making the driver cry in distress. Screams could be heard as the bus slalomed between the cars to avoid considerable damage, even the people seated weren’t out of danger due to the violent movements as most of them fell over.
Jimin quickly turned around to see Minjeong holding the seat in a deadly grip. Her eyes met the blonde’s and she automatically smiled at her in order to reassure her, the raven was not sure if it worked but that would do for the moment. Clenching her fists, she returned to the driver’s side and pressured him.
“Could you open the door please?”
“Are you out of mind?!”
“Open the damn door or I’ll tear it open!” Shouted Jimin as she was getting more and more frustrated.
At the driver’s refusal, Jimin surged towards the control panel and smashed the doors button. She let go of her bag and looked at Minjeong one last time before throwing a web at a building nearby and jumped outside.
Now in the air she was horrified to discover that her hypothesis had turned out to be true. The bus was speeding to an intersection indeed, a deadly one too. So she did what Spidergirl would do, save people.
Flying from building to building she dived in the air to reach the front of the bus. Thanks to her insane capacities, she crawled and stuck herself to the bus’ windshield, exposing her identity to everyone in that bus, and threw webs at whatever that could hold the bus back, poles, tables, buildings, anything.
“I’M NOT GONNA MAKE IT!!” Screamed Jimin with fear smudging her voice. The wind was so strong that the raven had trouble opening her eyes to see if her methods were working. As soon as she succeeded in opening them she wished she hadn’t. The webs were all shredding up at the bus’ speed and weight, it was as if everything she was going to do would be in vain.
It was the first time Jimin doubted her abilities. What was the point of continuing if nothing worked? All the webs were reduced to nothing, no matter how hard she tried, no matter how much pain she felt in her arms, no matter how much her muscles were being torn apart one by one, nothing seemed to work. Maybe today was the day she’ll fail as the city’s hero. Maybe today will be the day she’ll lose the one she loves.
As fear struck her, she suddenly opened her eyes and locked eyes with a scared Minjeong gripping her seat tightly yet who had hopeful eyes, she knew she had to make it. Even if she was not trusting herself on this one, someone seemed to have put all their trust in her, and it was Minjeong.
“Why was I given that power if I can’t even save the one I love for fuck’s sake!!” Screamed the girl for her life as many more spider webs came out of her wrist, attaching themselves to every building, breaking a few walls here and there. Some webs, visibly stronger than others, managed to cling to multiple surfaces, gradually slowing down the bus.
The hero was sweating bullets, her arms were badly bruised by the stretching. Jimin could almost swear that she had torn some muscles in her arms as she barely felt them. Probably the adrenaline rush playing its role, thankfully, because the girl was definitely not ready for the incoming pain. ‘I knew I should have worked harder on my arms.’ Thought the raven, clearly not thinking of how the bus was slowing down little by little as she pondered on her not sufficiently muscular figure.
Not feeling the wind as much as before, Jimin then turned around and saw the clear road, so the police must have been notified of the incident. Sighing, the hero watched the bus slow down to a stop, fully knowing she managed to avoid the worst, again.
As soon as the bus stopped she received a big round of applause from the people inside the bus. Not used to it, Jimin scratched her neck in embarrassment. Hopping off the front of the bus, she waved at the firemen, signaling them that they could come, that the situation was under control.
“My arms hurt like a bitch damn.. No workout for me tomorrow.” Said Jimin while stretching her arms, she’ll definitely put a stop to her hero activities until her arms (and mind) are healed because that was a hell of a ride (no pun attempted). Watching the people getting off the bus was nerve-wracking.
Between receiving thousands of thanks, having to reassure and even hug certain people to calm them down, she couldn't help thinking of Minjeong. ‘Is she okay? Is she hurt? Did she cry? Oh god I hope not because I’m just gonna cry along with her and that’s embarrassing.’ Thought Jimin as she cringed at the sight of snot on her shoulders, ‘hero fleeing as soon as recognition settled in people’s eyes’ fit her like a glove because what is this?
Once the blonde girl got off the bus, Jimin went into full Minjeong-protector mode, taking her in her arms.
“Minjeong are you okay!!!? Oh my god are you hurt??” Frantically asked the raven as she checked for the already shaken up girl. What a way to go Jimin!
“Yeah yeah I am but… you’re.. you’re Spidergirl?..” Cautiously asked Minjeong. The girl was still shaken up but the only thing that was invading her thoughts was that the girl before her was the hero she’s been talking about for months now, what is she saying? The hero she’s been gushing over.
At this Jimin’s face turned pale and the next thing she knew, she was flying in the air with Minjeong in her arms and screams could be heard from a particular blonde.
___________________
Now on her favourite rooftop she let go of the blonde and started going back and forth, clearly nervous about the outcome. It’s not like she’s told her about her true identity by herself, she was forced to show it to her. Out of all the scenarios the raven’s made in her head every night before falling asleep (that is if she even sleeps) this one was definitely the one she dreaded the most. ‘Like what were the odds?’
Of course the ‘bus having brakes that no longer work’ situation wasn’t something she expected but still. 'Like what am I supposed to tell her? She’ll think I lied to her and that I betrayed her, Aeri HELP ME I CAN’T DO THAT ALONE.' Thought the raven as she looked at the lost girl.
The poor blonde seemed so lost, as if what she always knew, trusted was a lie and Jimin couldn’t even blame her. She didn’t expect the confrontation to happen that fast but she’ll try to make it work, for Minjeong. Okay you got this.
“Okay I don’t know how to do this, it- it wasn’t supposed to be revealed like that, I was about to tell you everything because I can’t keep on lying to you. Guilt has been gnawing at me from within and I couldn’t take it anymore. I swear to god I was about to tell you everything.” Jimin said, her heartbeat was slowly going overdrive, she could feel tears welling up but refused to show that side to Minjeong so she pulled on her hair, desperately trying to get ahold of herself. “Why did it have to be like that..?
“Hey hey calm down a little, you’re hyperventilating.” Carefully said Minjeong, attempting to get closer as she heard Jimin’s ragged breath but was quickly dismissed as Jimin dodged her.
“It’s just- you’re gonna think I fooled you but it wasn’t my purpose I swear, I just wanted to protect you. You’re my favourite person in the world Minjeong and it would’ve killed me if something was to happen to you because of me. I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself.” Her eyes met Minjeong’s in order to show her utmost sincerity, keeping eye contact was tough for Jimin as she felt shameful but Minjeong deserved it.
“But you lied to me Jimin.” Said Minjeong, weakly. The sight broke the raven’s heart, she never wanted to hurt Minjeong, really that’s all she ever feared. And to know that she was the one who caused the hurt look the blonde was giving her, she slowly felt like her breath was leaving her.
“I know! And I regret it, believe me! But if I had to make the choice to hide everything from you once again and keep you safe, I’ll do it, a million times.” Jimin said, closing the discussion as Minjeong’s eyes had turned cold.
Even if she knew how hard the pill was to swallow, Jimin couldn’t lie for her life. If she had a choice between keeping Minjeong safe but away from the truth at the same time or telling her the truth but her life would be put at risk, she’ll choose to keep everything from her, even if it meant to lie to her. She’ll always choose anything over putting her in danger.
“And to say that I told you about how I felt about Spidergirl… about you. I must have looked fucking stupid right? Did you enjoy it? God I hate it.” Spat Minjeong, regret could clearly be heard in her voice and Jimin flinched at it. No longer looking at her, Minjeong redirected her gaze towards the horizon.
Sensing that she was slowly losing the girl, Jimin attempted to take the blonde’s hands in hers but was instantly shut down as Minjeong backed down, throwing her a deadly look. But if Jimin was known for something other than her cowardice, it was for her perseverance. So even after clearly being told to back away, she still reached for the blonde’s hands and once she got ahold of them, she never left them.
“I’m so sorry, it wasn’t fair and I understand how you feel but everything that Spidergirl has told you, everything I’ve told you, it was real. I was just hiding beneath a mask, which was a shitty thing to do that I gotta admit, but they were real, my feelings, they are real. I’m in love with you Minjeong, always had if I were to be honest. And I’m really sorry that the only way I found to talk to you was to do it with my costume on.” Jimin was pouring her heart out to the blonde, she didn’t just tell her about her feelings but she also told her how much of a coward she was.
However, Minjeong remained silent the whole time, bringing Jimin to a crisis.
“I know I’m a coward and that I haven’t been such a good friend, keeping you in the dark and such but.. I really like you Minjeong and is it not too far-fetched to assume you like me too..?” Asked Jimin as hope was written all over her face. But when Minjeong met her gaze with an expression she’s never seen before, disdain, what was once hope in Jimin’s eyes was quickly replaced by despair.
“I think I need some time alone.”
_____________________________
Now back in her room, all Jimin could hear was both her roommate and friend laughing in the living room. She made sure to come back by the window quietly as she definitely didn’t want to have a conversation with her friends after everything that had happened.
The grip she had on her phone was not faltering as she saw that the messages she tried to send to Minjeong all failed to send, meaning that the blonde blocked her.
Of course the raven rushed to instagram and saw that she was not blocked there yet but she knew better than to send her a message on it. She did so many shitty things, the least she could do was to respect her best friend’s boundaries.
Throwing her phone on her bed she left a deep sigh, maybe today was the day she would step back from her duties. Only temporary though, not to sound too pretentious but she knew that the city needed her. The people there needed to stay safe.
Jimin suddenly remembered that her grandparents reached her out a few days ago, telling her that they would be glad to see her as it’s been a few months already and what a better excuse to take some time away from all the drama going on than to visit her dear grandparents?
The hero caught her phone with a web and pulled it towards her, dialing the numbers in a flash.
“Hello?” As soon as she heard her grandmother’s voice Jimin felt a few tears threatening to fall down. Angrily dabbing them, Jimin took a deep breath in order to calm down.
She felt stupid for overreacting, it’s not like her life was falling apart, she just had a fight with her best friend and slightly felt rejected but other than that she was okay. She still had a roof over her, covering her from the rain while she slept, and food was threatening to fall from the fridge (not really, they are college students for god sake). So there was no need to cry for that. Yes, that’s what the hero was telling herself, kind of like a mantra. ‘I’m enough, I’m enough, I’m enough, I’m worthy, I’m worthy, I’m worthy, I got this, I got this, I got this.’
“Hi grandma.”
“Oh it’s you Jimin?” Jimin chuckled as she heard her grandmother calling her grandfather saying ‘darling it’s Jiminie come here!’ Jimin was grateful that her grandma didn’t address her shaky voice, maybe she didn’t even hear it, or maybe she just chose not to acknowledge it. Either way, she was thankful.
“Yep, I was wondering if I could come over today? I really want to take a few days off from university.” Tried the student, her grandparents were known to be strict but they also knew that mental health was important so Jimin silently pleaded for their understanding.
“Of course you’re always welcomed sweetheart, you know that, but will it be okay with college?” Her grandma said, worried about her grades.
“Yeah I’m gonna send an email and for the classes I’ve got friends who can take notes for me and I’ll catch up with them when I go back.” Jimin made a mental note to ask Yizhuo to give her notes whenever she can.
“Well then, we’ll wait for you, I’ll make you donkatsu!” This made Jimin smile but not without tears welling up in her eyes, her grandmother sure knew how to bring her comfort.
“You’re truly the best!”
“I know that honey, I tell your grandfather everyday!” Jimin laughed when she heard her grandfather groan ‘please I’m tired of it’.
Not that she didn’t want the conversation going on but she heard movements in the living room, meaning that the two women surely heard her.
“I have to go grandma! I’ll probably be there in an hour!”
“But it’s a three hour dri-.” Jimin hung up, quickly took a piece of paper and wrote something on it. She then moved to the window, a small bag on her shoulders with clothes thrown in it, her hair instantly tied in a ponytail as she didn’t care about covering her face (and wind was a pain in the ass), after all her face would be all over the news tomorrow morning so why bother?
As soon as she jumped out of the window the door was opened by two girls wondering if they'd heard a ghost.
“Jimin? Oh she’s not here?” Said Yizhuo as she saw nothing but a plain old room. Aeri who was behind her noticed the open window and quickly connected the dots. As Yizhuo was about to close the door Aeri entered the room and grabbed the seemingly abandoned phone figuring on the bed.
“Hum she left her phone… Wait, is that a note?” The note in her hands, she quickly read it before moving to the window, looking for a flying figure but saw nothing.
“What’s the note about?” Asked Yizhuo, clearly confused as to why her girlfriend would launch herself at the window.
“It says ‘Fucked up with Minjeong, back to my grandparents for a while, tell Yizhuo everything.’” Said Aeri, face still glued to the window. The younger held out the paper without taking her eyes off the streets, on the lookout for a flying silhouette. Yizhuo took the paper and furrowed her eyebrows.
“Tell Yizhuo everything.. What am I supposed to know?” At this, Aeri turned around and sighed, the girl was not ready to be thrown in a hell of a ride.
“Jimin’s spidergirl, that’s why we heard her but saw no one, she flew away by the window. And that’s also why she ran away, because Minjeong, who's been catching feelings for a stranger slash Jimin, probably discovered everything.”
“WHAT.”
“You’ve got a lot to catch up on babe…”
____________________
Jimin was dumb, she knew that. She may have forgotten that her grandparents were not aware that she was the hero that everyone seems to talk about in town, Spidergirl.
So of course they were dumbfounded when their granddaughter knocked on their door not even an hour after calling them.
“Sweetheart, how did you make it alive? How much did you speed up to get there that fast? Do we have to hide your car in the back?” Asked the grandmother while checking for any injuries despite the girl looking more than healthy (if you ignore the red and swollen eyes).
“Ah hum, about that, maybe I should let you know before the news informs you but.. you know the hero they’ve been talking about? It’s me. I’m Spidergirl.” When the raven girl got no answer from her grandmother she just opened her arms and said “surprise?” But instead of a smile she was greeted by a frown.
“Stop with that nonsense Jimin, I don’t like to be lied to. You could have just said that you drove too fast.” Crossing her arms, her grandmother looked at her disapprovingly.
“But I’m telling you-.”
“Ah Jimin you’re there! Do you want some-.” Right as he was bringing full glasses towards them, Jimin’s grandpa’s foot got stuck under the armchair, making all the drinks fall down, that is if Jimin wasn’t Spidergirl. Throwing webs here and there she pulled the drinks on her arms.
However, no matter how accustomed she is to her powers, she couldn’t manage to save the drinks but instead poured them all over herself.
“Okay that was definitely not how I pictured the entire ‘showing my powers’ to you but yeah, surprise?” Said Jimin with lemonade dripping down her hair.
And rest was h(er)istory.
Staying at her grandparents’ house turned out to be truly rejuvenating. She did some chores, took gardening lessons from her grandpa (she earned quite the tan), walked around a few lakes she never bothered to see in her youth with her grandma. She also showed how her powers worked to them as they were quite curious (that’s valid).
Needless to say, her face was all over the media a day after she got to her grandparents’ place just as she expected. Her grandparents could only look at her, worried but Jimin quickly dismissed it and changed the channel to a musical one. She certainly didn’t want to think about it for the moment so she stuck with enjoying her grandparents' company the moment being.
To Jimin, a trip to her grandparents’ house also meant a trip to her childhood. They had everything, starting from baby pictures, video tapes of her groaning like a dinosaur, costumes she used to wear for Halloween. Everything.
And it felt so healing to dive back into it, kind of like a return to the roots somehow.
It’s crazy how they kept a little bit of everything. Hair clips, books and the craziest of it being teeth!! They literally kept her teeth. Jimin looked through another box of her belongings, this one was from her teenage years. A lot of photos were splattered all over the box, there was even a sheet of an old newspaper. Jimin laughed at it when she saw her face on it. That was when she won a literature competition.
Now that she thinks of it, her face on the newspaper won’t be a one time thing anymore and she didn’t know how to feel about it.
When going outside (even though she was not in a big city) the hero still had to resort to wearing masks and caps every time she would be strolling around in fear of being recognized. Which is a bit dumb considering the fact that she can’t be living with her grandparents, hidden, for the rest of her life but once again she didn’t want to think about it yet.
Sighing, Jimin laid on the floor, a blonde taking over her thoughts. A few weeks has passed since Minjeong discovered both her biggest secrets, her being Spidergirl and her being in love with her. The temptation was there, her grandparents had a computer, she could see it from where she was laying. All she had to do was to log in her instagram account or even her hero account and that’s it but she was too scared to see messages from a certain blonde, that is if she had any.
Of course she was eager to know what people thought of her being Spidergirl but she knew better than to fall in the spiral that is the way people see you.
You want to know what they think of you, and then you wish you never knew. But then, despite the fear to know, you still want to know what they think because what if their opinion changed?
Yep, Jimin was definitely not logging in…

Screw that. Thought the raven as she launched herself onto the computer, logging on her personal instagram and ‘oh god I don’t remember having THAT many followers’ Thought Jimin as she scrolled at the several thousand of new followers.
Her mind exploded as she saw an enormous amount of notifications, likes and comments on her posts. The hero instantly pulled her hair when she realized that she also had posts clearly showing her friends and their usernames. First thing she did was to click on Minjeong’s profile and her face paled at the new amount of followers the blonde had. Knowing her, Minjeong likely made her account private as soon as she caught sight of what was happening but people can be fast, and Minjeong’s amount of followers were an undebatable proof.
Moving to her DMs a frown made its way to the raven’s face as she saw nothing. Absolutely nothing. Not even a ‘how u doin?’ from the blonde. Nothing.
She knew that the possibility that Minjeong would have sent her a message was low, she knew that and didn’t get her hopes up on purpose but it was always a hard pill to swallow. Sighing, she opened the conversation with Aeri and saw a multitude of messages. Jimin was not going to lie, it made her smile a little.

Shutting the computer down, Jimin stretched her arms out and got up feeling truly motivated. Even though they were roasting each other, the raven girl knew that her friend’s words and presence would deeply help her, guess that’s what friends are for.
Packing her stuff, she quickly bid her goodbye to her grandparents, thanking them for letting her stay when she needed to and flew away under their admiring eyes.
Her grandparents’ house wasn’t in a city so it was quite difficult to fly since there was nothing to hold on to but it took more than that to demoralize Jimin.
Throwing webs on lamp posts, trees, sure it was close to the ground but it was enough for the hero to swing around, clearly outpacing the cars and other vehicles.
The way back to Seoul was a bit longer than what she expected, ‘Guess I was much more efficient by being in distress haha, Aeri’s gonna get my ass if I arrive late’ thought the raven girl. A smile slowly made its way to the girl’s face as she recognized the buildings.
She missed flying, high-altitude flying. To feel the wind hit her hard. It was even better with no mask on, however she had to admit that she had a better vision with it because how was she supposed to fly with mosquitoes hitting her retinas?
Finally landing on the building she was supposed to see Aeri at, she was surprised to see that no one was there yet. Her watch clearly showed that she was not early, but rather late. Thanks to her spidey senses, she heard shouting in the building and recognized Aeri’s steps (don’t ask her how).
Then, out of nowhere, a woman surged out, Jimin instantly recognized her and closed the door with her. Locking it with spider webs, Jimin laughed at the state in which Aeri was, because why was the girl wearing her pajamas and a beauty mask?
“Do you have any idea of the troubles I went through just to get here?” Asked the Japanese woman, hands over her hips. Jimin had the vision, she seriously had it, Aeri wanted to look intimidating but with the mask the scowl she was making was too funny to handle.
“Well judging by the pajamas, mask and commotion, I can imagine much.” Said Jimin, a hand over her mouth as she desperately tried to hold her laughter in.
Aeri looked mad but then she deflated as she let the longest sigh Jimin’s ever witnessed. ‘Maybe adrenaline is not for everyone’ guessed the hero as her friend looked everything but happy. If the raven had to bet on how the student was feeling it would be stressful.
“I hope you have a good reason for making me climb a hundred stairs when I was having my ‘girlfriend quality time’.” Said Aeri, not really caring about the hero in front of her as she was checking a cuticle Yizhuo had forgotten to remove.
“Quality time as in having Yizhuo remove your facial hair?” With only an eyebrow raised, Jimin teased her friend who was giving her the stink eye.
“Did I allow you to speak, peasant? I don’t think so.” Laughter could be heard while people were trying to break down the door, not that the two friends would care as they both knew that the webs were stronger than ten men’s bodies.
Silence surrounded them for god knows how long before Jimin decided to address the issue because no matter how resistant her webs were, they couldn’t stay there forever, for both their own sake.
“I screwed everything.”
“Tell me about it.” At this Jimin whined and earned a side eye from her friend. And as the perfect drama queen that she is, Jimin feigned jumping off the building, as if everything would be better after this (well no Jimin, it doesn’t work like that).
“Maybe I should just die, throw myself out of the building.” Cars were as small as her pinky finger, that’s how high they were. ‘But what if I fall and accidentally kill someone, oh no’ Thought Jimin, slowly backing away from the edge of the building, suddenly not too sure of her dumb idea (for her defense it sounded very much like a splendid idea).
“You know you won’t even die if you do that, but you could always try, let me record it first. Maybe I should just do my BeReal while you jump, what do you prefer?” Asked Aeri, her phone already out of her pocket, to Jimin’s despair.
“Why am I even friends with you?” Jimin said, whining. After definitively abandoning the idea of throwing herself off the building, Jimin decided to sit down on one of the chairs they brought up there.
“Because you have no friends other than me duh.” Literally Aeri Uchinaga in a nutshell, cheeky. The said girl sat down beside the hero, putting her phone aside for a minute.
“I also have Minjeong and Yizhuo!” A frown made its way on the raven’s face, clearly defending herself against the loser’s allegations. However, as soon as Aeri heard a specific name, she couldn’t help but to make a grimace.
“Yizhuo yes, Minjeong though,,, ah let’s not assume that.”
Jimin cries at this.
“Oh god I was just kidding, you’re gonna end up dehydrated if you continue like that. You’re an ugly crier by the way.” Said Aeri, looking at her uncut cuticles. The comment however made Jimin smile a little, the raven then dried her tears and sniffled the snort away.
“Is that your way of comforting people? You’re bad at it.” Threw Jimin at Aeri but the business major couldn’t be more bothered and the hero knew that hence the reproach easily made.
“Well there is a reason I’m majoring in business and not in communication sweetheart.” The sweet smile Aeri gave her made her forget about whatever was going on in her mind for a bit. She knew the Japanese girl was the right person to contact if any problem arose.
“Ugh I forgot you were a smartass for a second.” A smile now on her face, Jimin looked at the traffic going on down there with an air of serenity. Her problems were far from solved, but she could already see much more clearly. And she desperately needed it.
“Because you’re dumb, and guess what? I’m also dumb, we’re like dumb and dumber but you’re still dumber than me, that would be offending if that was not the case.” Explained Aeri but Jimin honestly stopped listening as soon as she heard ‘dumb’. She couldn’t help but to think about Minjeong.
The girl was somewhere, probably at home, living her life without her as if it has always been the case and that somehow bothered the hero. Was she really the only one affected by all of this? Was she the only one feeling like shit being so far away from her? Wasn’t the girl supposed to be head over heels from her? Was it all lies? Did she misinterpret everything the blonde has said about her? Yes, Jimin was hurting but was lost more than anything.
“Hey, stop being so moody, I can see the gears working up there. She’s not gone, you heard her right she just wants to be alone to think about everything.” Reassured the Japanese girl, she quite liked to tease her friends but she was not heartless, she could see how much her friend was hurting and it didn’t please her at all.
“But what if she never comes back? Aeri I’m nothing without her.” The hero said, whining. She knew she was being too much but it honestly felt like her world was falling apart in her defense.
“Stop with that nonsense, you’re Yu Jimin, student and part time hero, you’ll get back on your feet in no time.” Two hands on her shoulders, Aeri forced Jimin to look her in the eyes, to show her that she believed it, that she was dead serious.
“But what if I can’t?” Doubts were clouding the raven’s mind, it was bound to happen. A hero couldn’t be certain all the time, it was a given. At this, Aeri apologetically looked at her friend then dropped a bomb on her.
“Then maybe that power shouldn’t have been given to you.”
The honks were the only thing that could be heard as the two friends were dead silent. On one hand Aeri felt apologetic for her friend as she knew it was such a hard responsibility but she couldn’t help but be disappointed in her friend for ever questioning her capacity to exercise her duty, not that she didn’t understand where it came from but still, she was disappointed. On the other hand Jimin was stunned, then the daze turned into astonishment as she saw her friend’s belief in her fade away.
“Welp, that’s awkward.” Said Aeri with a grimace and Jimin nodded, that was the most traumatizing talk she’s ever had with the business major and she wasn’t sure if she would like to repeat it.
“Anyways I gotta go, I still have to finish my date with Yizhuo before I have to head home. Wanna come with me? Or do you want to stay here for a while?” Asked Aeri, checking the enormous amount of messages coming from her girlfriend asking where the hell she’s been in such an absurd look.
“I think I’ll stay here for a little.” At this Aeri just nodded, knowing that the hero needed some alone time to process everything that had been said. It was never an easy task to hear things you didn’t really want to hear.
“Hey, we’re fine right?” Asked Aeri, she knew how hard it must be to hear those things, even though they were more than necessary. However, no matter how harsh it was, she didn’t want to hurt her friend, she just wanted to knock some sense into her, because that’s what friends do.
“Yeah, I guess I kinda deserved that.” Jimin scratched her neck in embarrassment. “It reminded me why I was doing all this in the first place. Thanks Aeri, I’ll never thank you enough.”
“Well you could always start by getting me off the building, I’m definitely not going down by myself or I’ll just end up arrested or something.” At this Jimin cracked a smile, she was thankful to have a friend like Aeri. Universe was doing his job correctly sometimes.
Catching her friend off guard, Jimin tackled Aeri off the rooftop and her reaction came instantly. The Japanese woman screamed to death and the hero couldn’t help but wonder how a piercing sound could come out of such a petite body.
“JIMIN YOU LITTLE SHIT!”
And before Aeri could recover from her emotions they were already on the ground with people looking at them funnily before taking their phones out in a flash to film the interaction because it wasn’t every day that you will be seeing Spidergirl without a mask on.
“Maybe you should just drop me home.”
“Roger that.”
And in a flash the hero was gone, already flying in the air with a screaming girl to the audience’s despair.
(“By the way, maybe you should wear a mask at uni, just saying.”
“Why?”
“You’ll see.”)

‘Maybe Aeri was right’ Thought Jimin as she was walking in the campus and people were definitely taking videos of her, whispering to each other and thanks to her more than tenfold listening all she could hear was “Yu Jimin is in our campus? I didn’t know that that loser was Spidergirl, no way… She’s really pretty though, how come I’ve never seen her before.”
Desperately trying to hide from the students’ eyes, Jimin walked faster with her hood on because what the hell was that. ‘People are following me now?!’ Just as she was about to make a sudden turn into a dead-end street in order to use her powers to climb to the roofs, Jimin came across Aeri. Her knowing smile made Jimin scoff, she could already hear her say “Told you so.”
“Told you so.” Said Aeri with her arms crossed, as if she was trying to prove a point. Jimin cracked a smile at her prediction turning out to be true.
“I knew you were gonna say this.”
“Spidergirl abilities?”
“No, just you being predictable.” Aeri’s smirk instantly disappeared and a scowl made its way to her face, which made Jimin laugh as it was hilarious.
“So what’s the plan?” Asked Aeri, sipping coffee from a cup. That made Jimin groan, she could hardly stand the looks.
“I don’t know, I guess I’m just hoping that people will forget.”
“Girl that would work if you fell in the cafeteria, but we’re talking about you being Spidergirl, everyone’s gonna talk about it, for years.” And as much as Jimin hated it, Aeri’s statement was kind of true, even though they were hidden (strong word given that they were just a few steps away from the campus), people still followed her.
“They’ll just take videos anyway so maybe we’ll be good?” Jimin made it a question but it was more of something she truly wanted. She was definitely not good with attention on her all the time. It was okay when she had a mask on but now… Aeri shared a sympathetic smile with her.
“Well we have to go anyway so we’ll see.”
They were not ready for what was waiting for them.

Chaos.
The way to class was chaotic, with everyone taking videos of her, trying to talk to her. Jimin felt deeply uncomfortable, there were even people who bullied her in the past who were trying to connect with her.
“Hey Jimin! How you doing??” The man, if Jimin recalled well, was going by the name of Jaemin and was in the basketball team.
“Hey? Weren’t you the one who bullied me last year?” The guy left with a smile on his face before he even heard the entire sentence to Jimin’s disbelief. She can still remember the wet clothes sticking to her body after a large slurpee was thrown at her face.
“Okay now that’s weird.”
“What were you expecting? You’re a celebrity now.” Said Aeri, looking as confident as ever despite the cameras on her (not really but she was still a part of the video so she had to serve). “You should just.. I don’t know, ignore it?”
“How am I supposed to do that when they’re literally throwing their cameras to my face?” At that, Aeri shrugged her shoulders in an attempt to show understanding.
Jimin was about to groan when she saw a familiar face in the crowd, someone who made her heartbeat explode, someone who managed to make her forget about everyone talking about her. Minjeong was there, chatting with Yizhuo while searching for something in her locker.
“Wait where are you going?” Threw Aeri but then she just followed Jimin’s gaze and smiled faintly, walking up to them as well.
“Hey! How you guys doing?” Said Jimin, looking at her two friends with sweat rolling down her cheeks because yes, seeing Minjeong after everything was more than nerve wracking. Yizhuo smiled at her but Minjeong refused to match her eyes.
“Hum Minjeong” nervously tried the hero. “I tried to reach you but-” Jimin couldn’t even finish her sentence that Minjeong left but not without slamming the door of her locker shut.
Jimin stayed there, speechless, looking at the girl she was in love with fading away in the crowd. Both Yizhuo and Aeri looked at her apologetically. She faintly felt the hand Aeri had placed on her shoulder for a second and heard her saying she had to go.
Now that she was left alone with Yizhuo and the student body, Jimin’s face fell down. She knew that talking with Minjeong would be difficult, she knew it, but she was not prepared to be met with such coldness.
“It’s gonna be okay Jimin, she just needs some time to get over it.” Yizhuo said in an attempt to cheer her friend up. However it didn’t really work, Jimin was left feeling a bit deflated.
“But she’s had plenty of time already, I was away for more than two weeks…” Explained Jimin, she could even say that it has been more than nineteen days and twenty two hours. Yes she hasn’t stopped counting. Those days without her seemed so long and endless.
“It’s not just that, you cannot just fly away and think that everything will be solved once you come back, you can’t get away with it.” Jimin stopped scowling when she heard Yizhuo’s tone. She seemed a bit upset and Jimin couldn’t even blame her, she kept a big secret from them after all.
“You’ll have to make it up to her, Minjeong is not an easy person and you should know that.” Jimin’s more of a cat face but the way she was guiltily looking at Yizhuo made her look like a puppy.
“I’m sorry for keeping this a secret from you guys. I didn’t want to tell anyone about it. It just felt really dangerous and the last thing I wanted was for all three of you to be involved. I know I can be stupid sometimes, but I’m not stupid enough. By letting you know, the criminals would easily have known that you were close to me and they would have taken advantage of it..” The hero hoped that her friend knew how much effort it took her to express herself about it, to apologize.
“Aeri is an exception, she was not supposed to know, but she broke into my room when I was having a little… crisis.” Just thinking about it made Jimin wince. Yizhuo seemed curious but it was a story for another day.
“I know it may seem like I didn’t trust you two enough to share this with you, but I really want you to know that it was not the case. I was just looking out for you, because I love you two. It’s hum, a bit different for Minjeong, it’s not a friendly love like the one I have for you but more of a, oh my god how am I supposed to say that.” Jimin was now sweating bullets, it was never an easy thing to do, admit your feelings, whether it’s the person in herself or not.
“It’s more of a sexual thing? Like I want to hug her, kiss her and touch her-” the sentence was left unfinished as Yizhuo slammed her hands to her ears, hoping she would not hear any obscene things ever again.
“Oh my god, please keep that to yourself. I really don’t need to know that. Ew.” A grimace that big has never been seen on Yizhuo’s face before and Jimin doesn’t know if she should feel proud or shameful.
“Well, that was awkward.” Said Jimin while scratching her scalp in embarrassment.
“You made it awkward.”
They both agreed to never talk about it anymore and made their way to class as the bell rang in the corridors.
(Jimin forgot about the cameras and eyes on her for a moment.)

Life has been hectic these days, juggling between her uni classes and her hero activities has never been more stressful. Jimin knew that she’ll have difficulties, she’s not that stupid but now that she had an exam in a few hours (she hadn’t managed to find time to study yet) and that criminals were acting up, she was feeling a bit overwhelmed.
But she didn’t even find the will to complain, she didn’t have to hide in a dark alley to change anymore, didn’t have to wear that stinky costume, she just resorted to wearing cool sunglasses (Aeri would disagree) to avoid mosquitoes and flies. So everything was going well so far.
Life at university was different though. Minjeong still refused to talk to her and it’s been days. She tried to reach the girl again and again but to no avail. She was still very much avoiding her. Jimin had to admit that Minjeong was rather smart, she knew when to go to class earlier in order to avoid her or worse, to arrive late whenever Jimin took the time to arrive early.
She even tried to talk to her during lunch but the girl would simply put her earphones on and eat silently under the three students’ dumbfounded eyes. Jimin could totally snatch the airpods if she wanted but that’s not how she is and worse, that would be crossing her boundaries and she knew better than that. She needed to gain Minjeong’s confidence back, not to destroy the small bond they had.
So she has drawn up a plan: during an exam, your presence is essential at least 15 minutes in advance so that everyone can be accounted for. They'll both be obliged to come early and won't be able to leave if the discussion starts. This is how Jimin planned to trap Minjeong, it was just perfect.
Hiding on top of a building, Jimin waited for a few minutes to see if it was safe to go back home and study for god’s sake (her exam was in a few hours) but then she got an alarm about a robbery a few blocks away.
She was so going to fail.
________________________
A giant cup of coffee in her hand (she still hates it but the all-nighter got the best out of her) and her phone in the other she texted Yizhuo to know if they were already there.
Yes, she deliberately decided to arrive late in order to sit next to Minjeong but for that she needed to know if she had arrived yet and Yizhuo was the perfect person to ask help from.
Jimin quietly celebrated as she received a simple « 👍 » coming from Yizhuo, she probably couldn’t write a better answer, one with words for example, as Minjeong was beside her. She walked faster to the amphitheater where the exam was held, her heartbeat quickening.
As soon as she arrived she saw them, laughing so hard that a professor had to shush them. Jimin noticed that Yizhuo had taken a seat near the end of the table and that there was an empty seat right next to Minjeong. The poor girl certainly didn’t know what was going to happen and Jimin knew she should feel sorry but she was not.
With her student card shown and essay sheet retrieved, Jimin hurried towards the seat and stopped right in front of it, meeting Minjeong's gaze. Swallowing her saliva, Jimin mustered her courage and went with it.
“Hey Minjeong, I know you’ve been avoiding me-.”
“I’m not-.”
“Don’t. I can feel it. Spider senses you remember? Yes, I’m Spidergirl, yes you think I’ve fooled you. And that’s why I’m here, to apologize properly, to ask for your forgiveness.” Jimin breathes in, feeling the students’ stare, she was definitely not used to that kind of attention, not even after weeks. A few months ago no one would have bat an eye at her but now things were different.
“I’m also here to announce that I’m officially courting you. I’m done being a coward. You truly deserve the best.” At this, Jimin swallowed hard, rosy cheeks and locked eyes with Minjeong, not that she wasn’t doing that already, but there was a new flame growing in them, hope.
“So, Kim Minjeong, would you allow me, Yu Jimin, to court you? This is me, the loser who dearly loves Crayon shinchan but also Spidergirl speaking.” People were staring and whispering to each other but Jimin knew better than to give them her attention as it was for Minjeong and Minjeong only.
“Jimin can’t you see you’re embarrassing me? Please just sit down!” Said Minjeong as she tries to usher Jimin into her seat.
“No I’m not sitting until I have an answer Minjeong, I love you and I’m truly sorry for everything.” Jimin felt like she was begging and she was in a way. And she knew it would look kind of pathetic from the outside but she didn’t care, she just wanted her words to reach Minjeong.
“Just sit for god’s sake!!” Said Minjeong as she took Jimin’s arm and forced her to sit down. They both collided, clearly not expecting Minjeong’s sudden strength but none of them moved.
Red was a colour Jimin never really liked, but she was beginning to grow fond of it as it was reaching Minjeong’s cheeks. The hero could see Minjeong frowning, as if upset that Jimin had caused such a scene but she couldn’t see any ounce of irritation in the girl’s eyes.
After a few seconds, stares now gone, Jimin couldn’t help but ask Minjeong for clarifications. She leaned over and whispered in Minjeong’s ear, unaware of the shivers she had just caused.
“So.. Was that a yes?”
“Yes Jimin, now close that mouth of yours, I don’t want to have all those hours of studying go to waste because of you.” Shushed Minjeong as she was already writing her name and student numbers on her sheet. But honestly, Jimin had better things to do, like jumping in her seat as she was celebrating her not unrequited love anymore (?), thus bringing unwanted attention, once again.
She didn’t even study that much anyways.
Minjeong facepalmed hard with burning cheeks highlighting her face but she couldn’t help but smile at the girl’s antics.
“Y’all are cringe. I hope you know that.” Said Yizhuo, looking at them with what seemed to be disgust.
(She indeed failed her exam, she blames Minjeong’s perfume).

The city was alive with the sounds of nightlife, the streets bustling with energy as Jimin perched on the edge of a rooftop, her heart pounding not just from the thrill of being Spidergirl, but from something bigger, greater.
Tonight was her first date with Minjeong. They agreed to have dinner first, then maybe to go to the cinema or just hang out in the city under the beautiful stars. But there was a condition, Jimin had to drive her to dinner. Something about being the norm, Jimin didn’t know why Minjeong cared about that that much but she’ll do anything for her lady, after all she aimed to please.
However.. She didn’t specify that she had to pick her up by car, so Jimin decided that Minjeong would have her first flight today. Yes, she was actually waiting on the rooftop of Minjeong’s apartment, waiting for the girl to send her a message.
Oh? Speak of the devil and he shall appear.
Minjeongie 🐶
I’m ready, where u at?
Sent two seconds ago.
I’m outside waiting for u 😗
? I don’t see u tho?
Sent two seconds ago.
At this Jimin smiles lovingly and hops off the rooftop, head upside down and slowly sliding down from her spider web. Minjeong was looking everywhere but over her head, the hero quietly stood beside her, waiting patiently for the moment. Right before Minjeong fully turned, Jimin let out a simple « boo ».
And sure it was not disappointing, Minjeong screamed so loudly that the whole neighborhood had to be woken up.
“Jimin! Why would you do that! I almost had a heart stroke!” The poor blonde was tightly clutching her clothes near her heart, desperately trying to calm herself.
“Yeah I know, I can hear your heartbeat.” Said Jimin with a loserish smile on her face. Minjeong had a frown on her face and it almost distracted Jimin too much, to the point where she could have missed Minjeong’s outfit.
“You look gorgeous Minjeong.” Red fused to Minjeong’s face and Jimin couldn’t resist a smile. The blonde was the most beautiful woman she’s ever seen and she was determined to make her feel like she was.
“Are you not going down?” Desperate for a change of subject, Minjeong asked while pointing with her finger her odd position and Jimin smiled even more, if it was possible.
“I’m waiting for my good morning kiss.” She said as she puckered her lips.
“It’s night time.” Said Minjeong, unimpressed. But that didn’t faze Jimin as she was still waiting.
“You know what I mean. Gimme my good night kiss then.”
“Yes, and I also know that it’s not appropriate before the end of the date. Want my father to come and get you?” At this, Jimin slowly put her feet on the ground, that sure was a turn off. She didn’t want to mess with THE Kim dad.
“Yeah nope.” That made Minjeong laugh, as they were walking, Minjeong said something even Jimin couldn’t hear and that was saying a lot considering the spider senses and all.
“What did you say?”
“I said you’re not too bad yourself.”
A smile made its way to Jimin’s face as if she had not been smiling since the beginning. She was about to tease her but her spider senses overwhelmed her all of a sudden.
She started to look around her frantically to the blonde’s confusion. The traffic seemed to be moving slowly, no car speeding up the limits, the neighborhood didn’t have a bank nearby.
It’s not the traffic, a robbery maybe? No it’s not that far away but what is it?
“Jimin?” Asked Minjeong, confused by the change of demeanor.
“Spidey senses.”
And then she saw it, a basic crime scene. A man stole a grandma’s purse and ran away as fast as he could, even avoiding cars in the middle of the streets. Jimin shoved her phone in Minjeong’s hands and shot a spider web on the side of a building to get closer to him. The wind blocked her view a bit but she just threw a spider web at a traffic light and jumped on the man, knocking him over.
The man was crying, maybe she didn’t have to go that hard on him, concrete hurts quite a bit. Jimin recovered the bag from the thief and immediately returned it to the grandma. She received so many « thank you » that it’s all she was going to think about during her night. Night that she was spending with Minjeong. Minjeong.
Shit!
Jimin immediately flew away with her webs and landed in front of Minjeong. She didn’t know where to begin with, should she apologize for prioritizing her hero activities? Should she get on her knees and beg for the blonde not to call it a day? Jimin was about to have a panic attack, no she was not exaggerating, she could literally feel her throat closing when Minjeong got closer to her and kissed her.
It was a simple kiss, not the kind where people would stare at them awkwardly. It was just two lips colliding, a hand on the other’s cheek and a sigh of relief coming from both of them.
When they stepped back, Jimin was still with closed eyes, Minjeong let out a little chuckle.
“It was chivalrous, but please don’t do that again tonight because it’s our night.” Said Minjeong with a strict tone and Jimin, oh Jimin looked at her with so many stars in her eyes.
There was just silence at some point, just the two of them looking at each other lovingly if Jimin dared to say.
“What about the no kiss until the end of the date rule?” Teased Jimin, not that the whole perfect slash conventional date thing ending with a kiss was a bad idea, no she actually liked it. But since when have things been normal between them? Jimin being Spidergirl was a big part of it, yes.
“It was never meant to be a normal night anyway.” Nonchalantly said Minjeong, busy looking at the streets, probably a little bit embarrassed at having failed to respect a rule she had applied to herself 10 minutes ago.
“By the way, I recall saying that you had to drive me there but I see no car…”
“Oh about that.. I wanted to surprise you a little.”
A smirk made its way to Jimin’s face and she could see the cogs working in Minjeong’s face until she saw her eyes open wide, the poor girl had probably just realized what was in store for her.
“Don’t even think about it. Jimin I’m serious.”
“Oh but I am too.”
Screams could be heard throughout the town, and Jimin couldn't be happier, after all she had managed to charm Minjeong.
