Chapter Text
Johto region.
It's been almost three years since Ash Ketchum and his Pikachu explored the Johto region with his friends Brock and Misty, but the region itself hasn't changed much since their adventures there, at least for the most part, since you could see children playing with their family Pokemon, wild Pokemon roaming the region, Trainers catching Pokemon or challenging gyms, I mean you could say that things looked normal, on the outside, but things are not always what they seem: in this year and half, strange disappearances have been happening around the Johto region and none had an explanation to this.
Children or even teenagers disappeared from their beds in the night like thin air and even though the police looked for anything, any clue or explanation to why they disappeared, no clue was found so far, if kidnappers were involved, they made sure to not leave clues, and strangely, in the last few months, a few people had returned, but with horrible injuries that had left several in a coma and even though almost everyone woke up, they still needed a long time to recover...but meanwhile, our adventure here won't involve these disappearances, because our heroine is about to move from Johto to the Hoenn region with her family, even though she was not aiming to become a Trainer in the Hoenn region, she had other plans.
Her name? Susanne Matthew, let's join her in her home, in Olivine City.
Olivine City.
In a room almost bare of everything but full of packages, spare for the last things, like a few clothes that could be wore in the last three days the Matthews family would stay in Olivine City, for the day and for the night and the essentials, a wardrobe, two drawers, a small desk with a PC and a lamp, where you could see a girl that was reading a book, while you could see a television attached to the wall and a bed with purple blankets.
This is Susanne Matthews, a girl with short black hair and blue eyes, wearing a light blue T-shirt with a black jacket, a dark blue skirt that reached her knees, white socks and blue slippers, and the book she was reading spoke about the Paldea region and the historical Naranja Academy, taking in every detail, since she was planning to try and apply to the school program, even though she knew her family was planning to move to Hoenn, her father, Jack Matthews, because of his new job as Professor Birch's assistant, with almost the whole family moving to Littleroot Town, everyone but her older brother, Anthony Matthews, that was moving instead near Mauville City with his fiancée Aisha Rossi, to open the Daycare they dreamed for three years, ever since they stopped their journey as Pokemon Breeders and got together...and to the end their dreams came true, with Anthony surprising everyone by proposing to Aisha two weeks ago, when they went out to celebrate and honestly, Susanne was happy for her brother that was taking a step forward to his dream.
Anthony's Trainer path brought him to become a Pokemon Breeder when he decided that he was more interested to take care of Pokemon instead of challenging gyms, and then to own a Daycare, while Luna was planning to become a Pokemon Trainer and Coordinator when they would settle in Littleroot Town.
Susanne? Well, Susanne wasn't really sure of what she wanted to do in her life, she was sixteen years old and never went on a Pokemon Journey, even though most of her childhood friends had left in these years, and to the end, her mother, Maya Matthews, decided to encourage her to try and enroll to the Naranja Academy, in the Paldea region, that was her mother's home region, and Susanne decided that it was worth a try, yeah, she couldn't say she was sure studying there would help her to find her dream, but she could give it a try and so her mother bought her a few books about the Paldea region and the Naranja Academy's history and the girl could tell she was hooked up reading on it...but luckily she paid attention to her surrounding, since she didn't miss the sound of the bedroom's door opening and she looked up and turned around to see her younger sister, Luna Matthews, entering with a dejected sigh.
Luna Matthews was a ten years old girl, with dirty blond hair and green years old and Susanne would describe her often as a gentle soul, that would never hurt a fly, even if at times she could be childish, but it was easy to love her, both for her gentle nature and for the fact both loved Pokemon, Susanne wasn't sure of what she wanted to do, of course, but one thing that you would never doubt about her was the passion for Pokemon, a trait that everyone in her family shared.
Susanne however mentally slapped herself, because this was NOT the time for that, because she knew the motive of that sigh, why wouldn't she, she knew of Luna's best friends, Sheila Solaris e Coral Le Blanc, that were two of the people that disappeared in the night, with Sheila disappearing first six months ago, with her mother that found her bed empty and none heard of her ever since, while Coral disappeared three months ago...and she was one of the people that had been found, a month ago, but like everyone else that was found, she was in critical conditions and was quickly brought to an hospital and she has still to woke up, with Luna that visited her everyday.
“Nothing changed, uh?” Susanne asked, getting up and going to her sister, that shook her head, to hug her, knowing exactly that this was why her sister entered her bedroom.
Honestly, Susanne knew that Luna didn't want to leave Johto without knowing that both Sheila and Coral would be okay, but she also knew that Luna didn't want her father and her brother to give up their job, her father, and their dreams, his brother for her, even though the black haired girl knew it broke her sister's heart to leave her friends behind without knowing if Sheila was going to come back alive or Coral was ever going to wake up.
If only they knew what would happen that night, that night would turn things upside down, with Susanne that would make a decision that will change her plans forever and will bring her on a journey that will decide the sorts of the whole planet, while she would find out that her dream was not different from Luna's.
And all because of a dream.
That night.
That night, everything was calm, there were just two-three people around, Ampharos was doing his job at the Lighthouse and everything was calm and peaceful, like the people that were sleeping in their rooms.
The Matthews family was like everyone else, sleeping peacefully and blissfully unaware of what would happen tomorrow, while Luna was having the strangest dream of her short life.
Luna’s dream.
Luna woke up seeing nothing but swirling colors and the ten years old girl couldn’t help but ask herself what was going on.
Alright, this isn’t one of my usual dreams. the ten years old realized. Also because I would never think like this in a dream.
Then she suddenly heard a voice.
You...
You who can now hear my voice...
Might you be...
...a human?
Luna looked around, confused by the whole ordeal, but she didn’t see anything that could tell her whose voice was, only swirling colors.
To the end she decided to answer.
“Yes, I am an human.” she said, even if she was asking herself why they couldn’t tell it.
Good, can you help us?
Luna was getting more and more confused and sincerely was asking herself what was going on.
“Yeah...?” she said, even if her tone was really unsure.
But if the voice noticed her insecurity, it didn’t say anything.
Thank you, help us save the Pokemon World.
Luna sincerely wasn’t understanding any of it and sincerely she wasn’t really convinced, but to the end, even if she wasn’t really convinced about the whole thing, she decided to go with it.
“Okay...” she said, but it was clear by her voice that she wasn’t really convinced.
But even now, the voice decided to ignore it if he noticed that.
Thanks, now I’ll explain what’s going...
But suddenly, with Luna jumping for how fast it happened, the background turned purple and the voice screamed.
HELP!!!
What the...? Luna exclaimed before the scene changed and the girl saw a Munna chased by an Hydreigon.
How did she know about what Pokemon were since these two Pokemon lived in the Unova region and she was just in the Johto region?
Well, it was thanks to her brothers books and also school.
Before she could do something, light filled her vision and if one of the few people that were still out had passed the street outside the Matthew's house, they would have seen light flashing inside the girl's room.
Next day.
Four members of the family woke up at 7 a.m., had their breakfast and were finishing to pack the last things in their suitcases, knowing fully well that they would be leaving the house in just two days and while they noticed that Luna wasn't up, Mina, a woman that had Luna's same hair color and Susanne's eyes, stopped anyone from going to her bedroom to wake her up, wanting to let her sleep a little longer, with the other members that agreed, since they knew that Luna had been stressed in these days.
But when the clock hit 9 and 30 a.m. And Luna failed to show up, Mina decided that maybe it was better to check on her, to make sure she was okay and if she was angry.
“Susanne.” Mina called her second child, that looked up from a package where she was putting away her books.
“Yes, mom?” she asked.
“Can you go and wake your sister up?”
The sixteen years old girl nodded.
“Alright, mom.” she said and went up the stairs.
She was starting to wonder if she should have mentioned to her parents that she didn't hear Luna make any sounds when she walked past her bedroom, since her room was near hers, also because her sister was a light sleeper, but she dismissed it because she thought her sister had a hard time falling asleep yesterday.
But when she reached the door, she really noticed it was quiet, really too quiet, because she didn't hear movenments, snores, anything that would signal that Luna woke up and was getting up, or was still sleeping, but she brushed her worries aside and knocked on the door.
“Luna, is time to wake up!” she calls.
But she doesn’t get any answer, not even a groan or 'Five more minutes'.
Alright, now I’m starting to worry. she thought, but knocked again.
“Luna?” she calls again, but again no response.
She decided to try a last time and if she doesn’t answer, she will enter.
She does that.
“Alright, Luna.” she announced. “Ready or not, I’m coming in.”
Truth to be told, when she turned the knob, she was hoping that this was something Luna planned to show her displeasure to them moving away, not what she was instead fearing was coming.
I just hope it’s not what I’m starting instead to fear... she thought, remembering the disappearances cases.
Unluckily, as she saw, finding the bed empty and no signs of her anywhere, not even the window was open, and to the end, that was all she needed for the answer.
“No...” she whispered. “Not her too...”
The girl turns and runs out of the room.
“Mom, dad!!!” the house echoes with her cries. “Luna has disappeared!!!”
Susanne: A month passed since that day, both dad and Anthony managed to postpone their transfer for a month, so that they could help the police find some clues to help us find Luna...but still nothing was found, even if to the end, with Luna's disappearance, people stopped disappearing. Anthony, to keep me from thinking the worst, gave me a Pokemon egg...a Shiny Shinx’s...and revealed that he wanted to gift us both an egg...his female Luxray and Aisha’s Shiny male Pyroar’s offspring: he knew I loved Shinx and so the Shiny Shinx’s egg came to me...while even the second egg, a Litleo’s, was a brighter color than normal Litleo...so I came in possession of my Shiny Shinx’s egg. However, returning to things to matter, Luna has yet to be found, and my dad and Anthony have to leave, because they can’t postpone their transfer any longer because, even if Professor Birch and the landowners understand the gravity of the situation, they could lose their job in Hoenn, dad, and the land contract, Anthony. Mom decided to remain in Olivine, so that a family member was still there if Luna was found...Me...on the other hand, I don’t know...a part of me wants to stay with mom, but the other part wants to go with dad and Anthony...I have a night to make my final decision.
