Merlin felt all of the blood run out of his face as Uther met his gold eyes. His eyes quickly shifted back to blue as the bolt he had stopped from killing Arthur dropped to the table.
Uther grinned, "I knew there was something wrong with you! Guards arrest him!"
Merlin pushed his back to the wall terrified and not knowing what to do. Watching as all over the room the guards... did nothing?
Well, more accurately shifted in place and gave each other awkward looks, none stepping towards Merlin. The guards nearest him actually stepped farther away.
"Guards!" Uther glared around the rooms, "Arrest the sorcerer!"
None of the guards, or really anyone moved. Eventually one of the older guards spoke, "Sire? What sorcerer?"
Uther pointed at Merlin, "Arthur's manservant."
"There's no proof he's a sorcerer sire. We can not arrest someone without proof."
"He just used magic!"
"Magic yes sire, but no spells so it wasn't sorcery. Having magic, or using magic is not illegal, just sorcery is."
"I do not care for technicalities! Arrest him or I will have all of you flogged!"
"I think you will find it hard to find someone to carry out that punishment, and ever more so to find someone to arrest Merlin."
"He is a vile sorcerer; he will die for his crimes!"
"Considering his crimes involve saving the prince, in this incidence, death seems an odd reward, a raise seems more appropriate."
Uther narrowed his eyes, "This incidence?"
"Quite frankly sire Merlin has been saving the prince and often all of Camelot since he first arrived in Camelot. The sheer number of times is mind boggling."
"You knew he has magic?"
"Not many people don't know sire."
Uther glared around the room, "Who else knew! I command that you raise your hand if you knew."
There was a pause before the first few hands went up, but it rolled through the room. All of the servants and guards raised their hands, as did most of the nobles present.
Uther growled before turning to his son, "Arthur?"
Arthur didn't take his eyes of the bolt that had nearly killed him. "No but all of the tree branches make sense now. As does the griffin," Arthur paused, "And the dragon."
When he reached out to pick up the bolt Merlin was suddenly there waking his hand away, "Don't touch that! It's probably poisoned, cursed, or poisoned and cursed."
Looking up at the area above the feast hall Merlin’s eyes flashed and a man fell down to the floor screaming in pain as he landed on the floor as he had not been dropped but flung down to the floor. Two guards rushed forward to grab the man and fully disarm him. Nodding to the king they dragged the man from the room.
“Well,” Arthur stood as Merlin stepped back, “I think I’m done with dinner.”
Not waiting for a dismissal from his father he left the room, and blinking Merlin looked around the room as no one else moved to do anything, Merlin mentally shrugged and followed Arthur from the room. Proceeding to go about his normal business. This is not how he expected his magic getting revealed would go but if no one was going to do anything, well he still had a prat to look after.
