Work Text:
Maomao sat in the rear palace's garden. It was spring, the cherry blossoms were blooming.
Most girls would be fascinated by the sight yet Maomao was only interested in the poisonous seeds, they contained cyanide, a rare but deadly poison. Just thinking about it made her feel like jelly.
She daydreamed about the effects she could get from the cyanide, if only she had a lab rat to test it on, a lab rat that wasn't herself.
Having free time is rare in the palace, everyone works so hard.
She sighed, thinking that atleast Jinshi wasn't here, he would likely drag her into some case she'd accidentally be an important part in.
"Maomao!" An irritatingly familiar voice called out.
"Yes Master Jinshi?" Maomao groaned, slowly turning toward him. It's almost like he knows where she is 24/7.
"Seems like you're enjoying the cherry blossoms," He smiled at her. "Beautiful aren't they?" He turned to face the flowers, the garden was very much well taken care of.
"Though it's unusual to see you here."
Maomao raised her eyebrow "What do you mean by that?"
"Well, you aren't the type to look at flowers for the sake of looking at flowers. What are you plotting?"
She gritted her teeth. "Nothing, I'm just making sure that..." She paused, not sure how to continue her sentence.
"You got me."
"Jinshi knows best!" He teased.
"For both of our sakes, please, don't ever say that again..."
