Work Text:
Xion knew this was likely a losing battle.
She glared down at her dinner plate, avoiding eye contact with her boyfriend lest she burn a hole right through his skull.
Roxas, the absolute bastard, was sitting next to her without a care in the world, eating his dinner and periodically shooting her sly smiles as she fought to not bend her fork in half like a glowstick.
It had all started a few days prior.
Xion and Roxas had the house to themselves, which prompted them to curl up together for a movie night. Which unsurprisingly led them to getting distracted during said movie.
Which, naturally, had then led to Xion pressing her entire weight against Roxas’s ribcage while she siphoned the heaving breath out of his lungs and painted his arm with rows and rows of teeth marks.
Despite her frenzied state, she still had been careful to not break his skin when she’d bitten him, though a mosaic of purple adorned his arm for the next few days. Making Roxas bleed felt like a slippery slope, one she would not let herself slide down in fear of the day she truly and irreversibly hurt him again.
Though this was always something she made sure of, it didn’t change two things:
- She wanted his blood.
- He wanted her to have it.
She was really going to have to tell Even about everything going on with her at this point (though she DREADED such a conversation) because for reasons unknown, she had actually found herself longing to break through and make him bleed. And not just to see his blood, to drink it.
It probably should have horrified her more than it did, but at this point she’d found some semblance of peace with the notion that she’d always be insane for her boyfriend.
All things considered, she could probably blame some of it on Roxas himself. She could give herself credit for having some semblance of normalcy about this before he’d started pouting about her never breaking his skin. All bets were off after that.
Roxas wasn’t as insane as her, but he was certainly close. Probably as close as anyone could get, he was just more vocal about it. Which meant he’d never hid his fixation with having her make him bleed.
And he’d only gotten particularly vocal about it after finding out about her, er, fangs.
When Xion had come back to life, but before her heart had fully returned to her body, her siphoning powers behaved differently, which was what had allowed her to mimic Saïx and go Bersek in the Keyblade Graveyard.
She couldn’t exactly do it anymore, with her mimicking abilities being significantly toned down now that she was no longer a vessel of darkness, but she had discovered recently that it had some…side effects. The main one being her fangs.
They weren’t very noticeable, not unless she was in the throes of affection with Roxas, something that he’d latched onto immediately.
That night during the movie, he had pouted, not for the first time at his bruised arm and pointed out that he wasn’t bleeding. To which Xion, also not for the first time, had reminded him that she wasn’t going to do that. Fangs or no fangs, she wouldn’t go down that road and risk hurting him again.
But Roxas
knew
her. Better than even herself sometimes. He could feel her heart and all its emotions, reactions and desires. Which meant he could feel the downright
ravenous
hiss of her heart and the way it begged her fangs to sharpen and sink in deeper, deeper, deeper until she was
sipping.
And he wanted it, too. Badly.
Which had spurred him to declare right then and there that if she was going to keep refusing what they both wanted, then he was just going to have to tempt her.
And how very tempting it was…
From then on, Roxas had done everything in his power to egg her on. He wore new cologne, he bared his neck any chance he got, she even caught him using fruit flavored mouthwash. Xion had just about had it.
But tonight? Ohhh, she was a step away from the deep end tonight.
Axel had made dinner for the trio and Xion had offered to set the table. A big mistake, as it gave Roxas enough time to sneak around and come up with yet another way to try and tempt her.
She’d almost dropped the glass in her hand when he’d sauntered into the kitchen with an innocent smile on his face, clad in a tank top as to not cover up the scent of sea salt fucking ice cream that he’d dabbed on his neck and shoulders. She could’ve killed him right then and there.
Xion bit the inside of her cheek as she stabbed her fork into her food with a bit more force than intended, trying to focus solely on the plate and not on the way Roxas smelled or the way he kept rubbing his neck or the way he bit his lip to keep the impishness out of his smile or-
Shit, Axel was saying something.
Xion’s eyes darted across the table to her best friend, who had undoubtedly picked up on the tension between the two, but had absolutely no way of knowing what any of it was about. Axel didn’t even know that Xion could still siphon, let alone the other downright weird things she and Roxas did to show affection as a couple. It was none of his business anyway.
“-and with the festival coming up, I thought we could invite our friends from the other worlds to go.” The redhead said through a mouthful of broccoli.
Xion nodded her agreement, not trusting her voice at that moment. Roxas answered effortlessly.
“Sure, sounds good.” He said. “It’ll be nice to have fresh blood for the dunk tank.”
Xion’s head snapped over to glower at him, though he did little more than smile sweetly at her. She huffed under her breath and went back to her food.
Axel furrowed his brow at her from across the table in concern.
“You okay, kiddo?” He asked. Xion nodded her head, but didn’t meet his eye.
“Great.” She managed to answer, thought it probably seemed comical with the way she was tearing her fork through her food.
“Y’know, you don’t have to eat if you’re not hungry.” Axel reminded her, bless his heart. She opened her mouth to respond, but didn’t get the chance.
“Oh, she’s hungry.” Roxas chimed in. He was smiling at her with a shit eating grin.
That. Little. Fucking. Brat.
The sound of her own fork clattering against her plate might’ve startled Xion if adrenaline wasn’t already pounding in her ears. Though it did clearly startle Axel, as the older man visibly flinched in his seat.
Xion could feel her frenzy arising, familiar at this point as it thrashed and clawed throughout her senses, urging her forward.
Bite him. Until he’s bleeding. Make him eat his words.
Bite him bite him bite him-
Xion stood abruptly from her chair. She hoped poor Axel didn’t catch the undeniably feral gleam in her eyes as they locked onto Roxas, but that didn’t seem very likely.
Her boyfriend was, of course, unfazed by any of this and continued to give her that lazy smirk even as she grabbed both of their plates and tossed them into the sink.
His grin only grew more eager as she stomped back over to the table and hauled him to his feet by the collar of his shirt.
She did not stick around to answer Axel’s (shit, sorry, Axel...) wide eyed look of pure bewilderment, but instead dragged a giggling Roxas out of the room.
“ThankyoufordinnerAxelgoodnight-“ She called back hurriedly as she stormed towards her room with her boyfriend still in her grip, slamming the door shut behind her.
Now in her room, Xion let go of Roxas and gave him a pointed, simmering glare.
“What do you think you’re doing?” She crossed her arms as she asked. Roxas shrugged innocently, the little shit.
“What I said I was going to do..” He fluttered his lashes and unsubtly tilted his head to bare his neck to her.
He wants it. He wants your fangs in his skin. Give him what he wants. Take what YOU want. Drink his blood, drink his blood, drink his blood, drink his blood-
Xion grabbed Roxas by the waist, lifted him into her arms and promptly threw him onto her bed.
He scrambled to prop himself up on his elbows, watching her eagerly as she climbed over him and took his chin in her fingers, leaning in until the only thing he could see was the scorching blaze of her hungry eyes.
“You’re a little devil, you know that?” She snarled, her lips just barely brushing his as she spoke.
“I know that.” Roxas said shamelessly. He had the audacity to tease her. “What’re you gonna do about it?”
There was a challenge in his voice, one that said ‘come and get me.’ Xion pushed him flat on his back.
“Brat.” She leaned down to practically growl in his ear. “Dabbing ice cream on your skin.”
He giggled somewhat manically, clearly quite proud of himself.
“It worked, didn’t it?” His tone was still teasing. Kingdom Hearts , he really had nerve today. Two could play at that game.
“Who said it did?” She shot back. “Who said you get to have what you want?”
“What we want.” He swiftly corrected her. Xion bit back her smirk.
“You say you want it, but what if you can’t handle it? What if you’re all talk?” She drawled, showing an incredible amount of self restraint to dip her mouth down to the space between his neck and shoulder and lightly drag her teeth along his skin, scraping her fangs just enough for him to feel, but not enough to abrase him.
Roxas sucked in a silent breath as his whole body shuddered.
“I-I can handle it..” He stuttered, the smugness quickly fading from his voice. Xion felt her lips quirk.
“I’m not so sure..” She murmured tauntingly, wrapping her lips around the outline of his collarbone. He squirmed beneath her touch.
“Please…” He all but squeaked. “Please, I can handle it. I want it, please bite me.”
That’s right. Make him beg.
“Maybe another time..” She drew her lips back a bit, pretending like she was going to fully pull away. A mournful whine left Roxas’s throat.
“N-No! No fair!” He cried with outrage. “Xion, I’m begging!”
Her teeth were on his neck within the next second.
Xion fought the hiss that tried to claw its way out of her throat as she felt her boyfriend’s heart stutter and jump in his chest, eager as ever. Her teeth clamped mercilessly down on the skin of his neck, squeezing, but not breaking through quite yet.
Roxas let out a choked gasp, his hand shooting up to tangle through her inky hair. After the initial surprise wore off, she felt him relax in her hold.
“Please…please, baby.” He continued to beg, petting desperately at her hair.
Xion retracted her teeth and placed a quick kiss on the affected skin, reaching for his other hand to intertwine their fingers.
“Squeeze my hand twice and I’ll stop, okay?” She cupped his cheek with her free hand and guided his gaze towards hers.
Roxas nodded, his face even and sober, making it clear to his girlfriend that he understood. She placed a sweet kiss on his lips before ducking back down to his neck.
“Siphoning or no?” Xion asked against his skin.
“Siphoning.” He answered. “Please.”
“Okay.” She pressed a kiss to the crook of his neck. “But I’m gonna go slow.”
Roxas let out an affirming hum and shuffled slightly in her grasp to get more comfortable.
“Ready?” Xion asked softly.
“Yes..” Roxas sighed.
She bit him again, the same spot as before, letting her teeth sink deep indentations into his neck before she bared down harder, letting her fangs poke out and prick his skin.
At the same time, her powers flared, satiated to some degree by the force of her bite, so she didn’t have to worry too much about getting carried away as they slowly pulled strips of energy out of him.
Roxas let out a blissful breath, relaxing against her bed. Between his still, peaceful form and her powers making them more prominent, Xion had little to no struggle piercing her fangs into his neck.
Her boy gasped, delighted, as her fangs slowly and carefully descended deeper into his skin. His energy twirled contently through her, mirroring the joyful beat of his heart. He was absolutely thrilled.
Xion held his shoulder in place with her free hand, squeezing it to ground herself as warm, succulent drops of blood, his blood, filled her mouth. It was…It was…
Magnificent.
Xion felt her jaw quiver as she tried to compose herself enough to take a tentative sip of the blood slowly leaking out of her beloved, a much gorier display of stealing his essence than siphoning could ever be. But was it really stealing if he was giving it to her so willingly?
No, she supposed not.
She let Roxas’s blood dance over her tongue and coat the inside of her mouth, let the flavor, sweet and salty, permeate her tastebuds. She hesitantly swallowed, letting the small mouthful slide down her throat.
It was too good. Way too fucking good.
Roxas let out soft, fluttery breaths beneath her, not a trace of discomfort to be found. She was grateful she could feel the giddy, affectionate thrum of his heart, as it reassured her greatly while her mouth was too occupied to check on him.
Xion’s tongue swept more blood into her mouth, her siphoning powers a steady wax and wane, a waltz that danced through him and coaxed small streaks of strength out of him.
Carefully, she sucked lightly on his neck, drawing a small burst of blood into her mouth. Roxas whimpered, but his heart still held only peace. His fingers sweetly stroked her hair and he pressed his palm against the back of her head, urging her closer.
She swallowed again, another small mouthful. She was new at this and didn’t want to draw too much too quickly. Even still, it wasn’t too hard to get the hang of it and she found herself settling into a quiet rhythm.
Sweep, suck, swallow. Sweep, suck, swallow.
Roxas didn’t squirm much, he seemed to be too pacified by the act. The siphoning certainly contributed as well. Though he did cling needily to her hair and gave an occasional squeeze to her hand, but not the two squeezes she’d told him to give if he was tapping out.
Xion’s eyes fluttered shut as she fed, the rabid fixation in her chest finally satisfied by her current actions. Slow puffs of energy continued to dance through her.
Sweep, suck, swallow. Sweep, suck, swallow.
Roxas mewled as her tongue brushed the puncture wounds a certain way, gripping the back of her head tighter.
“Love you…so much.” He choked. “Gorgeous girl. My angel. L-love you so fucking much…Xion…”
He continued to babble sweet nothings, his heart aching so intensely with affection that Xion could actually feel the throb of it in her own heart.
He’s the fucking sun. He’s a song. He’s art. He’s everything. Let him flood everything. Let him be the only feeling left.
Roxas…my sobriety and my addiction.
Roxas…my home and my hurricane.
Roxas…my grave and my resurrection.
Roxas……
He was everywhere. In her arms, her heart, her veins, her mouth. His lifeforce was dripping down her throat, warm and fresh from his body. Did he have any idea what he did to her? Even with the impossible connection they shared, was he fully able to comprehend what she felt in that moment? The encompassing ache of her love? Of her devotion?
Did he know that the only reason she didn’t feel like a monster was because he looked at her like she was pure divinity?
Did he know that she could spend an eternity right here, like this? With him? With blood and skin and hearts beating forever in sync?
There was a slow, gentle squeeze of the hand still entwined with his. It was only one, but it had a clear message behind it.
I know. And I feel the same way.
Of course he did. How could she even dare to wonder?
Xion’s free arm moved to wrap around him, mindful not to jostle his limp form too much as she embraced him. Roxas sighed, melting against her.
“I love you.” His blissful voice whimpered. “I love you, baby. I love you so much. I..”
He trailed off, perhaps too overwhelmed to continue speaking. Xion could feel it all anyway. The energy streaks that sang I love you. The throbbing heart that panted I want you.
The blood droplets that screamed I’m yours.
One more mouthful and Xion was detaching her fangs, lapping up the two streaks that spilled out of his neck from the loss.
The wounds blossomed with blood again immediately, so Xion pressed her hand against them to stop the bleeding.
She sat up, looking down at Roxas as she put pressure on his neck. She pulled her other hand from his and let it trail up to cradle his face.
He stared back up at her, face winded and in awe. His parted lips lifted into a lovesick smile, like he was falling head over heels for her all over again.
Xion held his gaze, more than entranced by that glossy look of adoration in his beautiful bluebell eyes. Without breaking eye contact, she wordlessly summoned her keyblade.
“Heal.” She whispered and watched the grassy green cure magic close the punctures in his neck. It would likely still bruise a bit since she’d only used plain cure, but now the bleeding would stop and he wouldn’t have to worry about it getting infected. Though she had a feeling if she had used cura or curaga that he would’ve pouted about it.
She pulled her hand away from his newly healed neck, her palm and fingertips still christened with his blood. She brought each digit to her mouth and licked them clean, doing the same for her palm. Roxas watched her as if under a spell.
She knew his blood still smeared her mouth and her eyes were probably still sharp from the siphoning, but Roxas looked at her the same way he’d looked at her the day he first saw her face.
“You’re…you…” His breath stuttered in his throat as he gazed at her. “You’re my entire life.”
Xion swallowed, overcome with emotion at such a breathtaking declaration. She blinked with alarm as Roxas propped himself up to reach her, quickly closing the space between them and placing a gentle hand on his chest.
“Sweetie, you’ve lost blood..” Xion fretted, attempting to get him to lay back down. He reached for her instead, caressing her face and wiping the leftover smears of blood from the corners of her mouth with his thumb. She wrapped her arms around his waist to keep him steady.
“I know..” His face lifted into a grin. “That was the point.”
Xion huffed, shaking her head fondly.
“How was that?” She asked. Roxas laughed breathlessly.
“Fucking amazing.” He sighed, his eyes all but starstruck as his thumb brushed her lips. She couldn’t resist taking it into her mouth to suck up the smudges of blood he’d gathered from her face.
He very clearly liked that, as he let out another sigh, this one considerably more strangled.
“You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me..” He breathed. “I want to marry you.”
His eyes were cloudy, clearly in a haze from the siphoning, which had slowed down significantly but not quite stopped. Despite that, she could feel down to her very core how much he meant it.
Xion smiled softly at him, taking the opportunity while she still had him in her arms to gently lay him back down on the bed. She followed right after, leaning carefully over him as she stroked his face and gazed lovingly down at him.
“I want to marry you, too.” She whispered. Though their bond was deep enough to transcend the laws of creation, Xion was still in love with the idea of marrying Roxas. Sure, they were already bound for life, meaning they really didn’t need to get married, but like all things about her relationship with Roxas, it wasn’t about shoulds or shouldn’ts, it was about what her heart wanted.
“We’ll get married in a few years, okay?” She said sweetly, stroking her thumb over his cheekbone. Roxas didn’t seem satisfied with that answer.
“Or we could get married sooner.” He suggested. Xion raised her brow at him.
“Oh yeah?” She indulged, brushing his messy bangs out of his eyes. Wispy streaks of energy still passed lazily into her.
“Mhm.” His eyes shined. He slipped one of his rings off, the black one, and slid it down her ring finger. Xion stared at her hand.
“Roxas…are you serious?” She asked, eyes flickering over to his face. Her tone held humor, but a part of her wondered if he meant it.
“..Yeah.” He took her hand in his. “I am.”
His eyes were soft with affection, but held an intensity that told her he really was serious. She huffed a bewildered laugh.
“Aren’t couples normally supposed to-“
“I don’t want normal. I want you.” Roxas cut in before she could even finish her sentence. Her mouth dropped open.
“Roxas.” She said his name with a tone that said ‘you cannot be serious right now.’
“Xion.” He said her name with a tone that said ‘I sure as hell am.’
She scoffed, shaking her head and straightening back up to escape the earnest look in his eyes.
“I’m not talking about this with you right now.” She huffed.
“That’s okay. We can talk about it later.” Roxas said simply. Xion shot him a look.
“You’re ridiculous.” She said.
“You should bite me again.” Was his response, his eyes flickering over the faint, lingering stains of blood that streaked her chin and above her lips. Xion blinked at him.
“Roxas, I drank enough. I can’t bite you again.” She rolled her eyes.
“I think you can. You didn’t drink that much.” He argued. “Did you like it, by the way?”
Xion nodded, leaning back over him to give him a kiss, but hesitated as she remembered she was still a bit of a mess. Roxas snaked a hand up to her back and pulled her in the rest of the way, unconcerned as he let their lips meet.
“I loved it.” She whispered against his lips as she broke the kiss. “I love you.”
“I love you, too.” He kissed her again. “You should bite me again.” He repeated.
Xion rolled her eyes again, but her smile was fond. She held his face in her hands and kissed the corner of his mouth.
“Just for a little bit, okay?” She relented, pulling a smile as bright as the sun from her boyfriend.
“Okay.” He agreed. “But, Xi? Can you..bite somewhere else?” His tone dropped to something softer as he asked.
“Is your neck too sore?” She asked, the sharp pull of worry threatening to tug at her. Roxas quickly shook his head.
“No, no, not at all.” He reassured her. “That’s not what I meant. I…”
He trailed off, his face twisting sheepishly. Xion pressed a tender kiss to his forehead.
“What is it, sweetheart?” She stroked his cheek affectionately, her voice filling with sweetness and understanding. “Where do you want me to bite? Hm? You can tell me.”
She felt his heart flutter as a lazy smile spread over his face.
“My wrist.” He admitted. “That was the first place you…”
“That I bit.” She answered for him. Roxas nodded.
“Yeah. Do you remember that?” He asked.
“Mhm.” Xion nodded. “Wasn’t that long ago.”
“I…guess I want to watch you.” He confessed. “Whenever you bite my arm, you just…you look so beautiful.”
His voice was far too awestruck to be talking about something so odd, but Xion supposed that was her entire relationship in a nutshell.
She took his hand, pressing smiling kisses to his knuckles.
“You’re so sweet to me..” She hummed. She trailed her kisses down to his wrist, her other hand interlocking with his once again.
“Same deal as your neck. Two squeezes for ‘stop,’ okay?” Xion said, holding his wrist just inches away from her mouth.
“Okay.” Roxas smiled, though much softer, more thoughtfully than earlier right before she bit his neck. “I love you.”
“I love you, too.” She said back. Her fangs were in his wrist within seconds.
Later that evening, Xion pattered to the kitchen (after rinsing her face in the bathroom sink) to get Roxas a glass of juice to help put his blood sugar back up.
She hummed quietly as she reached the fridge, the soft sounds of the TV floating in from the living room.
Axel paused his game and called out to her.
“Hey, Xi. Everything okay?” He asked with a bit of hesitation in his voice. Understandable after what he’d witnessed earlier.
“Yep!” Xion answered cheerfully. She grabbed a glass from the cabinet and poured some apple juice into it.
Axel appeared to sigh with relief.
“Okay. That’s good.” He said, tone sounding more sure. “Watcha’ up to?”
“Just grabbing juice for Rox.” She said simply as she put the gallon back in the fridge.
“Oh, good. You didn’t kill him.” Axel joked. Xion giggled as she grabbed the glass and left the kitchen.
“Nope! Just sucked his blood.” She said cheerfully as she passed the doorway to the living room.
“Har Har.” Axel called after her. There was a beat of silence before he spoke again. “Wait, that was a joke, right..?”
Xion just continued giggling, shutting her bedroom door behind her.
Even later that evening, Roxas and Xion were cuddled up in her bed, now clad in their pajamas. His head rested comfortably on her stomach as she played with his mess of golden blonde hair.
“Oh!” Roxas sat up abruptly, surprising a half asleep Xion. “I almost forgot.”
“Hm?” She looked at him, expecting an elaboration, but he only climbed out of bed and swiftly left her room.
Xion sat up, her brow furrowed with confusion. She stared at the doorway as she heard him rummaging around next door in his room. He reappeared a moment later.
“Sorry.” Roxas apologized as he sat back down on her bed. He placed a quick kiss on her lips. “There was something that I forgot I left out.”
“It’s okay.” Xion hummed. She laid back down, but Roxas didn’t follow.
He instead caught her hand, the one still adorning one of his rings, and pressed a kiss against the surface of it.
“Sooo…It’s later now.” He said, smiling at her like he was up to no good. Oh boy. “Can we talk about it?”
“Talk about what?” Xion played dumb, though the slight narrowing of her eyes probably gave her away. Roxas just chuckled.
“Getting married.” He answered easily. “We didn’t finish talking about it earlier.”
Xion sat up to face her grinning boyfriend, amused by his antics.
“Didn’t I say we could in a few years?” She teased.
“Hmm, how many is a few?” Roxas asked. She stared at him as she thought about it.
“Mmm, six? Maybe seven?” She shrugged. He let out a noise of disapproval.
“Nah.” He shook his head. “That won’t do.”
“Oh, it won’t, huh?” She played along. “Well, when do you suggest?”
“As soon as possible.” Roxas answered with no hesitation. Xion huffed a laugh.
“Aren’t we a little young?” She pointed out.
“Maybe.” He pressed another kiss against her ring finger. “But people stay engaged for a couple of years, right? By the time we actually get married, we’d be adults.”
That…huh, she supposed he was right. Still..
“What, does that mean you’re proposing?” Xion asked playfully. Though she knew that wasn’t what he was getting at, she couldn’t help but look forward to such a thing.
Roxas shrugged.
“What if I did? Would you say yes?” He grinned at her. Xion lightly shoved his shoulder.
“You’d need a ring for that, dork.” She reminded him.
“I have a ring.” Roxas said matter of factly.
“This doesn’t count.” She laughed as she held up her right hand.
Roxas gave her a tender smile.
“No, it doesn’t.” He reached into the pocket of his pajama pants, pulling a small circle out and holding it between his pointer finger and thumb. “But this one does.”
Xion’s jaw dropped to the floor at the same time Roxas sank to it on one knee. Her heart pounded so loudly in her chest that she worried it would shake the entire house.
“Roxas.” She said his name like she was caught between throwing herself into his arms and murdering him on the spot.
“Xion.” He grinned up at her, sighing her name like the prayer he spoke it as. He took her left hand and pressed his smiling lips against the back of it.
“You- you can’t actually be-“ Her sputtering was cut off.
“Xion, my life and my love, you’ve driven me to complete insanity.”
Oh, she drove him to insanity?!
She had half a mind to chew him out, but was too dumbstruck to speak.
“You’re the best part of me. You’re the only thing I’ll ever truly need.” He continued. “I know you probably want to kill me right now, but if there’s anything in my life that I’ve never doubted for even a split second, it’s that I love you.”
Xion felt her eyes grow wet. This could not actually be happening. Ohhh, she was going to kill him..
“I know we’re young, but I really, truly don’t give half a shit. You’re my entire heart. You’re every happiness in the worlds and I will never let you go ever again. So Xion, my pearl, my soulsong, will you marry me?”
For a short, yet impossibly long moment, Xion searched his eyes. In the shades of blue she found love, she found devotion, she found companionship and perhaps most importantly, she found commitment. She saw the sincerity in his eyes, the way he proudly wore his smile, the way he knew how batshit all of this was and was completely deadset on it anyway. She briefly thought back to their days in The Organization.
‘Then, let’s run away together.’
Did she have any right to be surprised anymore? Did she have any real reason, besides what others expected of her, to say no?
Did she not want to say yes with all of her heart?
“..If-if I say yes..you have to promise me something.” Her shaky voice spoke up. Roxas smiled at her with amusement.
“Yeah?” He tilted his head.
“You have to be the one to break it to Even.” She gave him a knowing smile.
Roxas laughed and nodded in agreement.
“Deal.” He beamed.
“Then, yes.” Xion’s playful tone dropped to desperation as threw herself at him on the floor, wrapping her arms around his neck and crashing her lips into his.
He chuckled breathlessly as he caught her, kissing her back with as much fervor as he could muster.
Xion quickly lost track of the passionate kisses as they came, her only concern being to stay in his embrace for as long as possible.
“You’re crazy.” She gasped between kisses. “You’ve completely lost your mind.”
“I’m aware.” He said against her lips. “Comes with being yours.”
Xion’s answering whine rumbled in her throat as she pulled him back in.
“I love you, Roxas.” She murmured.
“I love you, too.” He breathed.
As they caught their breath, Roxas took the opportunity to pull them both to their feet and place the ring on her right ring finger.
It was dark metal, almost black, with small blue gems encrusted on top and a deeper blue, oval shaped gem in the middle that looked like a mini galaxy.
Xion gasped as she looked at it, holding it up to the light to watch it glimmer.
“You like it?” Roxas asked giddily. She felt the slight urge to kill him again.
“How did you- where did you-“
“I saved up for a while.” He explained as they both sat back down on her bed. “Had a separate savings fund and everything. It was supposed to be your birthday present, but…I want to marry you.”
Xion looked at him emotionally, if a little poutily. She took his face in her hands and kissed him again, though chaster this time.
“You know everyone’s gonna have our heads, right?” She said once she pulled away. Roxas snorted.
“I’d like to see them try. We’ll just come back to life.” He joked, pulling a laugh from Xion. “Besides, who says we have to tell them?”
“You wanna get married in secret?” She raised an eyebrow at him. He laughed and shook his head.
“No, you deserve a nice wedding.” He wrapped an arm around her shoulders and kissed her head. “What I mean is what I said earlier. We can wait until we’re adults and get married then. This was gonna be your birthday ring anyway.”
She hated that it wasn’t the worst idea in the world.
“Well, how are you gonna introduce me?” She asked honestly. “You can’t tell them I’m your Fiancée. Are you gonna just lie and say I’m still your girlfriend?”
Roxas knit his brow in thought.
“Hmm…maybe I’ll just introduce you as my life partner.” He nudged her lightly. “Or my future wife.”
Future wife…
Roxas must’ve felt her heart flutter, because his face broke into a smirk.
“Ooo, someone likes that.” He teased, nudging her again. She nudged him back.
“Yeah, yeah. Either of those are fine..” She grumbled, wrapping her arms around his neck. “But I’m still gonna call you my Fiancé when we’re alone.”
Roxas took her waist, smiling lovingly at her.
“Mm, I would hope so.” He hummed before kissing her. She sighed as she kissed him back.
“Are we really doing this?” She asked quietly, maybe to the air more than him.
“I’d like to.” He answered softly. “If you’ll have me.”
Xion laid back to let her back rest against her bed, pulling her Fiancé (wow, that had a kick to it!) with her.
“You really think I won’t?” She smiled at him.
Roxas chuckled, kissing her cheek before settling next to her and pulling the blankets over both of them.
“Well, there was a second there where I thought you might strangle me.” He admitted as he pulled her close to his chest.
“I was considering it.” She deadpanned.
“Mm, glad you decided to marry me instead.” He kissed her forehead before reaching over to the bedside table to turn off the light.
“We’ll see.” She quipped as she nuzzled into his chest.
Roxas laughed as he kissed her hair and the two spent the next stretch of time speaking sweet to each other and voicing ideas for their wedding.
Eventually, it grew quite late and Xion felt the heavy pull of her eyelids beckoning her towards sleep. Roxas must’ve noticed, as he pulled the blankets a little higher over her shoulders and gave her a gentle kiss on the lips.
“I love you. Goodnight, my Fiancée.” He whispered. Xion’s heart radiated with quiet elation.
“I love you, too.” She whispered back as her eyes fell shut. “Goodnight, my Fiancé.”
Xion felt Roxas’s thumb press against her pulse like it always did, the familiar warmth soothing her to sleep. The last she felt before she drifted off were his fingertips tracing her ring.
She fell asleep smiling.
