Regulus looked to his right as he sang the verse “You’re the closest to heaven that I'll ever be,” he slowly but surely lifted his hand to the chain on his neck.

Two years ago (1 year dating)
Regulus: I love your ring.
James takes off the thin golden band and holds it out: Then it's yours.
Regulus widens his eyes in shock. That's James’ favorite ring.
James: Though it may be a bit big
He takes off the chain around his neck and slips the gold ring through the chain. James motions for Regulus to turn around. Regulus slowly turns around; he feels James’ warm hands put the chain around his neck and he clips it together. Before Regulus can turn back around to face James he feels the warm breath on his neck. He takes a sharp breath as James leans into his neck, and he whispers.
James: I love you so much and anytime you struggle to find the words just grab this ring and I will always understand what you mean.

Regulus gently wraps his fingers around the slim gold ring and makes eye contact with those beautiful brown eyes. And in that moment the world stops and it's just him and James and he knows James understands exactly what he wants to say.
James steps up to his mic and finishes the verse Regulus began “And I don’t want to go home right now”
