"I'm going to be living with Onii-chan again!"
I couldn't help but break out into a wide grin as the car pulled up to my big brother's new home here in Sukisugi.
My name is Aijou Reina, and I am about to begin my first year of middle school at the Ohana-no-mitsu University Middle School.
My living situation with Onii-chan is... complicated. During his middle school years and my elementary school years, the two of us went to two completely different schools in two completely different cities. Due to this, it was difficult for the both of us to stay at the same town because of the distance between the two schools. To remedy this, our parents decided that both of us should live near our respective schools, but that meant that the two of us haven't lived together in a while.
Honestly, I thought that I wouldn't be able to live with him this year as well, but our parents managed to enroll me into Ohana-no-mitsu late, which is why I'm just about to live with him despite him already having started high school.
I'm so excited!
I wonder what my brother is up to now. Has he already found a girlfriend? I sure hope so. It's honestly shocking that he managed to keep going after his, like, 60th rejection. I sure hope that the next time I see him in school, he's already lovey-dovey with a girl.
Or maybe not. That would be terribly awkward.
I stepped out of the car and looked on at our new house in the town, looking forward to my new life as a middle school student!
"Onii-chan, I'm here!" I called out as I walked up the door.
"Oh, you're here now, Reina! Come on in!"
He opened it, and we locked eyes as I saw my brother's smiling face.
Nothing happened.
Our eyes stared at each other for a few seconds, but just as I walked up to him, he knelt down on the ground and began sobbing.
"N-Nothing happened... Thank God! Nothing happened, Reina!" he said.
"W-What's up with you, Onii-chan?!"
Eventually, he calmed down and I spent the rest of the day settling down in the house and preparing for my first day in another school tomorrow.
The day passed by without issue, and now it's dinner.
"How's school been, Onii-chan?"
I asked this question to my brother as we ate dinner that day. The moment I asked that question, my big brother smiled widely.
"It's been going really well, Reina! I'm really excited for you to come to the same school as me!" he replied. I was happy seeing him so excited, but I really wonder why that is. The last time I saw him, he was... a lot more gloomy, I guess. Not that gloomy, but definitely not as excited as I see him right now. I wonder what changed?
I kinda wanted to tease him and ask if he has a girlfriend, but I didn't want to be insensitive in case he still doesn't. I'm just glad to see him so happy, so I'll just leave it at that.
I couldn't help but feel suspicious, though. After dinner, he immediately checked his phone and had this really lovestruck smile as he stared at it. Seriously, with how he was acting, I am definitely sure that my brother has a girlfriend now.
That really doesn't make me sad. In fact, it makes me really happy for him and now I'm actually excited to meet his girlfriend. I wonder what she's like?
The next morning, I walked to school with a refreshed feeling, ready to take on my new school and make some friends. I really looked forward to my time here at the school.
It didn't take long for me to reach the campus, and, honestly, the school was pretty massive. I was honestly impressed by this school. Setting aside the knowledge that my brother was attending this school, I would have still been really excited to be here.
Since I enrolled and transferred a bit late into the school year, I didn't have to attend any school ceremonies and just went straight to attending class. All of it was a lot more straightforward than I thought, but that didn't mean I hated it.
Well, with all of that done, it was now time for lunch, so I headed for the highschool cafeteria so I can hopefully eat with my big brother. He did say that he wouldn't be packing lunch today so that we could eat together, so I hoped that our schedules matched and that we would be able to have our lunch together.
Fortunately, I was about to get my wish. I saw my brother entering the cafeteria with someone.
I then realized that the person he was walking around with was a girl, and furthermore, he was holding hands with that girl.
He was holding hands with a girl!
Onii-chan finally got a girlfriend!
He finally got one!
She was incredibly adorable. She was shorter than Onii-chan is and looked plain, but that plainness just added to her charm. She had a bunch of hair sticking out, and had a very cute smile on her face. She also had a band on her left sleeve that signified that she was part of the library staff.
I could barely contain my excitement, so I called out to him.
"Rentarou-nii-chan!" I called out, and both of them turned towards me. My brother waved at me while his supposed girlfriend tilted her head in confusion.
"Oh, Reina! You got here before me, huh? You must have been really excited to see me." he remarked. Meanwhile, her girlfriend spoke up in a... rather peculiar way.
"<Who is she, Rentarou-kun?>" she asked... using text-to-speech.
It's so weird, yet so cute at the same time! Onii-chan, you lucky guy!
"Ah, I never told you about her, huh? That's my mistake." my brother said. "This is my younger sister, Aijou Reina. Reina, this is my girlfriend, Yoshimoto Shizuka. She's from my class."
T-This cute girl is older than me?!
"O-Oh! It's nice to meet you, Yoshimoto-senpai!" I said, making sure to show her some respect. "Please take care of my brother..."
"<Do not worry. In fact, it was he who has taken good care of me.>" she said. "<It is a pleasure to make thine acquaintance.>"
"A pleasure to meet you, too!" I said, then turned to my dear brother, who had that goofy smile on his face. He was so happy that his joy was literally radiating off of him.
I don't blame him, given what happened to him. Despite that, though, it's my job as a little sister to tease my big brother.
"I didn't think you would be a lolicon, Onii-chan. Since when?" I asked, leaving him utterly flustered.
"I-It's not like that, Reina!" he said.
"<Such slander! My lover is not guilty of these accusations!>" Yoshimoto-senpai defended him, which just looked extremely adorable.
"Don't worry, Onii-chan, I will still love you even if you had such deviant tastes..." I said, a smirk never leaving my face.
"<Cease and desist!>" the girl continued defending my brother, so I was about to stop teasing him, but then, someone else showed up.
"It seems that you're here, Aijou Rentarou." the cool voice of a woman spoke from beside us. When I turned to look, I saw probably one of the most beautiful women I've ever met. Her flowing white hair and her piercing red eyes stunned me to silence, unable to speak. The other two didn't have this problem, though.
"Nano!"
"<Nano-san.>
The two of them waved and greeted her, while I was pretty much the picture of confusion.
"Who might this individual be?" she asked as she turned to me, and I couldn't help but feel intimidated by her gaze. She wasn't hostile or anything, but a woman this beautiful staring at me is not going to be good for my heart.
"This is my little sister, Aijou Reina. She just started first-year in middle school here in this school." he said, and the girl nodded.
"Very well. It is nice to meet you, Aijou Reina. My name is Eiai Nano, one of Aijou Rentarou's girlfriends." she replied.
"Nice to meet you- Wait, what?"
I blinked as I processed the bomb that has just been dropped on me.
One of his girlfriends?!
I turned towards the other two, and Yoshimoto-senpai was just smiling gently, utterly unsurprised by what the other girl had just said. My brother was the same, though he was sweating slightly.
"D-Did I hear that correctly? One of your girlfriends? Whatever does that mean, Onii-chan?"
"U-Uhhhh... There is a good explanation for all of this..." he said.
"You have multiple girlfriends? How is that possible?"
The shock couldn't leave my voice as I asked them, while Eiai-senpai tilted her head in surprise.
"You did not know? Aijou Rentarou has six girlfriends." she said.
"SIX?!"
"And so, there you have it," My big brother said. "I want to introduce you all to my little sister, Aijou Reina."
I stared. I stared long and hard at the six girls in front of me.
Six. Six girlfriends. After being rejected an ungodly amount of times by many different girls, he now has a harem of girls with him just as he started highschool.
What the hell happened?
They all vary in shapes and sizes, too. I couldn't help but stare at what is unmistakably a mother and daughter duo, and I couldn't help but be shocked that my brother would engage in such a thing.
"You know, I was kinda expecting you to introduce her as your new girlfriend, but little sister, huh?" one of them, a girl with orange hair tied to twintails, said "It's not like I think that it's nice to meet you or anythin'!"
You know what, Onii-chan? I can at least applaud you for your good taste. It is questionable that she just expected Onii-chan to introduce another girlfriend. What the hell have you been doing, Onii-chan?
Deciding that it would be rude of me to not say anything, I decided to greet them.
"I-It's a pleasure to meet you all!" I said, and it didn't take long before one of them approached me.
"Hello! My name is Hanazono hahari, and I want to be your mommy!" she said before immediately tackling me to hug me, burying my face in her boobs.
"MMMPH!" I groaned before I freed my face from her grasp.
"Onii-chan! Call emergency services so that I can arrest this degenerate!" I shouted out, causing her to suddenly let go of me.
"P-Please don't, Reina-chan!" she said, while the tsundere smacked her right in the head.
"This is what you get for being a horndog!" she said. "Anyway, my name's Inda Karane. Nice to meet ya."
"My name is Hanazono Hakari, and I'm sorry for my mother, Reina-chan." the other pink-haired girl said as she dragged her own mother away.
"I-It's fine..." I said, then turned to my brother. "I didn't know you were into oyakodon, Onii-chan!"
"I can't even say anything to that..." he said while scratching his head in embarrassment.
"This is Rentarou's little sister, huh? Hello! Name's Yakuzen Kusuri, yep yep!" she said, before pulling out a test tube. "Here's a drug for you to test out, yep yep!"
"Don't just hand out drugs like that!" I said.
As I looked incredulously at the chaos unfolding before me, I couldn't help but ask one question in my head.
How the hell did this happen, Onii-chan?!
