"When we're bigger, I want to marry you, Lapis!"
"Ah, really?"
"Yeah!"
"Why?"
"Why? Well, you're pretty and cute and super duper fun! So why wouldn't I wanna get married with someone like you!"
"Well... Haiyi's super nice, so I wanna marry you too!"
"Yay!"
"But Merli said only big people can get married."
"Cangqiong said the same. But that's why I wanted to tell you now, Lapis! So if anyone ever asks you, you can say no! Because I already asked you first!"
"Ohhhhhhh, okay."
"Lapis, I... I have something to tell you."
"Yeah? What's up."
A deep breathe. “I like you."
"I know that."
A whine. "Oh come on! Let me have my moment, pleaseeeeeeeee-"
A laugh. "Okay, okay, I'm sorry. Please, go on, Haiyi."
Another breathe. This time, the voice is more steady. "A lot more than I thought I did when we were kids. I'm really bad at being serious about stuff- though you of all people would know that."
Another laugh. "I do know."
"But I’m certain that what I’m feeling is more honest than anything.”
"Really?"
“Well, I have no feelings in rejection you. I’ve been waiting for that confession since we were children. I like you too, Haiyi.”
The voice is more flustered. “Was it enough? Did I take too long?”
The voice is certain, and full of assurance. “It was all I needed. ... I'll never forget when you said that you wanted us to get married when we were kids."
"Stopppppppppp-"
Another laugh. "You already confessed, so I'll make sure to propose in the future."
"Not if I get to it first."
"We'll see."
"... Hey, Haiyi?"
"Yeah, Lapis?"
"Will you marry me?"
"... OHMIGODYESYESYESYESYES-"
