Work Text:

July 22nd, XXXX

It's the night of a splendid, eventful party at the Yogurt Mansion. At this point, it's more like the afterparty, but Yogurt Cream Cookie wasn't present at the main event. Instead, he was on the balcony at the mansion, alone with no one but his trusty bodyguard.

“The night is young, isn't it? The party's been fun, but some reprise is much needed.”

Lilac Cookie nodded. The night was indeed a time to remember. He wanted to spend the rest of the night with Yogurt Cream Cookie, who was looking down at the party from above. The party was located outside in the court of the mansion. Family and friends of the family were conversing, drinking, and dancing together.

However, there was something preventing this: his mission.

His employer, Plain Yogurt Cookie was getting impatient, and time seemed to be running out, as this party was no normal party, it was the party to celebrate the new heir of the Yogurt family in the next week, that being Yogurt Cream Cookie.

Yogurt Cream Cookie stood in front of Lilac Cookie. “This is peaceful, right? A once in a lifetime occasion. I can't believe I'm gonna be the heir…no really, I don't want to believe it…”

Lilac Cookie tilted his head. “Is that so?”

“Yeah, managing the family business seems lame… should I have taken advantage of my youth more?”

“...So there's nothing you can do about it?”

“It's out of my control at this rate, the family has already decided, that's that and this is this.”

At this moment, Lilac Cookie realized that it was a lose-lose situation no matter what happened.

There was no time to get emotions in the way of the mission, because at least then, something right will happen, well, not right, but at least the purpose of one's existence will be fulfilled.

Yogurt Cream Cookie continued reminiscing. “I think I'll be okay, regardless of where I'm at, as long as you're around, right, my dearest?”

“...”

“Right, Lilac Cookie?”

But it was too late, Lilac Cookie's plan was in action. A familiar fragrant scent filled the area where they both stood.

Yogurt Cream Cookie yawned. “I can use a nap right now, is right here good?”

Lilac Cookie didn't respond, he didn't need to, as it was the natural effect of the sleeping powder batch he kept on him. Yogurt Cream Cookie fell asleep on the floor of the balcony.

Good, this would allow for a quick and painless death. Lilac Cookie couldn't bear to handle any screams of pain from the one he wanted to follow the most…

… but that was where the free will he had in the matter ended, the rest was already predetermined.

He took out his chakrams from his cloak. He closed his eyes, blinding himself from the sight of what he would do next. It was the point of no return.

He placed the chakram just under his dearest's head. He tried to think of anything else, but the only things he could think of were the memories he had with Yogurt Cream Cookie. All the antics, mishaps, and shenanigans they endured together…

… it all ends here.

Jam covered his face, the warm jam of the one he once followed.

“Lilac Cookie… he…” Yogurt Cream Cookie whined.

The magic lamp appeared before him, “That's just how it is.”

“It's not over yet!” Yogurt Cream Cookie told the magic lamp.

“You are but in the world within me, you are deceased.” The magic lamp spirit replied.

“But my dream's not over! I'm still here, right?”

“Because I'm controlling your deceased body, it was the deal we made.”

“My body's totally useless with a decapitated head, right?”

“That is true…”

“Right? So can I go back? I swear I can make this better for both of us!”

“Alright… as you wish…”

July 22nd, XXXX

Yogurt Cream Cookie woke up to a familiar sight, him oversleeping till noon, and various outfits he was planning on wearing to the party hanging on the wall in front of him.

It was the same day, but Yogurt Cream Cookie told himself he was gonna change things. This time, he took a jelly that would resist the sleeping powder, so he wouldn't fall asleep. He got it one time from a merchant, he lowkey thought it was a scam, but he had to have faith in it this time.

Soon enough came the night of a splendid, eventful party at the Yogurt Mansion. At this point, it's more like the afterparty, but Yogurt Cream Cookie wasn't present at the main event. Instead, he was on the balcony at the mansion, alone with no one but his trusty bodyguard.

But it was too late, Lilac Cookie's plan was in action. A familiar fragrant scent filled the area where they both stood.

Yogurt Cream Cookie looked around. “What's that smell? Is that you?” He knew what it was, it was Lilac Cookie's all-too familiar sleeping powder, but he wasn't going to falter this time.

“... I'm sorry, Yogurt Cream Cookie…”

“Huh?”

“I was hired to kill you… and it seems time is running out…”

Yogurt Cream Cookie turns to Lilac Cookie. “I-is that so? Is that how it has to be?”

“I'm sorry.” He holds his chakram against Yogurt Cream Cookie's head. Yogurt Cream Cookie flinched away. “No… not yet…”

“...”

“Lilac Cookie… my dearest…”

Lilac Cookie takes his chakram away from his head. “No… I can't do it…”

“Huh? Weren't you saying you had to?”

“Well… just don't look away from that star.”

Yogurt Cream Cookie realised he was looking in the direction of a very peculiar star.

“But you're my star!” He looked back at Lilac Cookie, which would be a grave mistake. Lilac Cookie was on his knees, on the floor, covered in his own jam.

“What are you doing? Hey! You can't do that! Oh no, this is bad, really bad.” He started panicking and ran out of the balcony, but he knew that considering how far they were from anyone else, that he would crumble before he could get to anyone.

There was only one thing he could ask for help…

“Magic lamp! Come back!”

The magic lamp appeared before him.

“What now?”

“I… Hope this isn't too much to ask but can you restart the day again?”

“But you're alive…”

“Yeah, but Lilac Cookie won't be! I need it so that we both are alive!”

“I can't guarantee anything…”

“Just restart the day!”

“... As you wish.”

Yogurt Cream Cookie woke up to a familiar sight, him oversleeping till noon, and various outfits he was planning on wearing to the party hanging on the wall in front of him.

It was the same day, but Yogurt Cream Cookie told himself he was gonna change things. This time, he wouldn't leave the afterparty, no matter how much Lilac Cookie needed the respite, he would stay in the action no matter what!

It's the night of a splendid, eventful party at the Yogurt Mansion. At this point, it's more like the afterparty, Yogurt Cream Cookie was completely drunk off of berry juice as the center of attention. Lilac Cookie stood closely behind him, making sure he didn't do anything stupid.

While he was doing his job as his bodyguard, he knew he needed to do his other job too, as time was running out. When nobody was looking, he sprinkled some poison into the next cup Yogurt Cream Cookie was gonna drink. He, not paying attention, grabbed the glass and downed it, and crashed on the floor a few seconds later.

“I died again! Restart the day!”

July 22nd, XXXX

He woke up again, same stuff, same day. The party started, when he was going for the tainted drink, he smelt it first. Lilac Cookie tapped him on the shoulder.

“Hm?”

“Swap drinks.”

“Oh, okay!”

The two swapped drinks. Yogurt Cream Cookie continued his conversation with the other cookie before hearing a crash behind him.

He turned around and saw Lilac Cookie on the floor seemingly barely holding onto life.

“Ack! I'll get help!” He ran to an empty spot to speak to the lamp once more.

“Restart the day!”

“...As you wish.”

July 22nd, XXXX

The same day…

The same party…

The same fate…one of them dies.

“Was it so hard for them both to be together! No matter! I will relive the same day over and over again, so we can be together!”

By then, he had it memorized, he was going to do everything in his power to make sure their future would be great…but he's stuck in the present.

The same damn day, just for the chance they can thrive together. Was it foolish to wish for a happy ending?

“Is my dream over?...”

July

22nd

He stood in the realm of the lamp for the 500th time.

“Are you sure you want to do this again…?” the lamp asked him.

“...” He broke down crying at the spot.

“I have to ensure… the dream goes on… but… I'm not sure if I can do it.”

“Will you accept your death now?”

He stood up, still crying. “No, I must keep going, because if I don't, what would all of that suffering be for?”

He was sick of dying at the hands of the one he loved. He was sick of seeing the love of his life crumble from his own doing. He was sick of the damn party and the people and the clothing he woke up to first thing in the noon.

He was sick of the day, he was sick or everything.

But… he needed to continue the dream… because what else could he do…?

“Please! Restart the day! Even if I can't take it anymore! Don't stop until I get what I want.”

“...As you wish.”
