The Decline and Fall of YeahJaron

Summary:

Jaron feels regret after lying to his kingdom, in a desperate attempt to separate himself from the matter, he does what has to be done.

Notes:

I finished watching the Sky Civilization video recently, so I wrote this in honor of the fact.

Work Text:

Jaron sat atop his bed, pondering.
At some level he still mourned the loss of his kingdom, even if he was standing in it. No. It wasn't his kingdom. It was nothing like the original.

He missed Pangi, and Minemanner, even Wemmbu. He missed pretending to be innocent to the horrors of the outside. He missed his kingdom, his people, himself?

He wished the people respected him. Sure, he may lied here and there, but it was purely for their safety. He couldn't let them leave, and see the dangers of everyone else. He needed to protect them. That was his job as king.

It made him feel sickly. He had let them do that to him.

He wondered why Pangi left without a trace, he truly believed he would've stayed, to be his right hand man and become closer. That's what he would've wanted.

He knew the betrayal of Minemanner was inevitable, he refused to mention it. He wanted to think that he truly was a good person, that he was simply overthinking.

He felt resentment towards Wemmbu. Why did he have to turn the civilization against him, it was a simple mistake. He wanted to live in harmony.

There was no need for classes if they were all poor. Except him.

He felt a level of sympathy though this. He never wanted to hurt them.

He left his castle. If you could even call it his own. He saw the edge of the kingdom. For the first time in his life, he cried. He couldn't keep it in any longer. He sobbed, he wanted to be comforted, to be told it was okay. It wasn't his fault. It was theirs.

He knew what he had done

It was nothing but his own doing.

He lifted himself on top of the guard line. He dropped all of his items. They didn't need him.

Death was right around the corner. He didn't want to blame himself once more. He knew he didn't deserve it. But it stung.

He put a foot out. Then the other. He had to do what needed to be done.

Even if it meant taking his life.
