Chapter Text
It's been 2 weeks since Rimuru had devoured The True Dragon, Veldora, and his imprisonment inside the seal ‘Unlimited Imprisonment’ that was casted on Veldora by a hero 300 years ago. The dragon was the only thing Rimuru had encountered since his reincarnation 3 and half months ago. It's been quiet ever since then. It has been lonely for the lone Slime traveler. Quiet except the occasional monster, which were always quickly dispatched and consumed by the slime.
Well not exactly ‘alone’ as Rimuru had been talking to his ultimate skill Great Sage who has been guiding Rimuru towards the exit of the cave since Rimuru’s encounter with Veldora. All non monsters that Rimuru had come across were a bunch of Hipokute Herbs and Magic Ores.
That was until Rimuru randomly stumbled upon the unconscious body of a green haired human who looked no older than a teenager lying on the ground with several burn marks all across their arms.
”Caution, This individual isn't dead, nor are they are not completely human like you think.” Great Sage spoke to Rimuru as the Slime was approaching the unconscious figure.
“Hmm. What do you mean ‘not completely human’ Great Sage? They look like a human to me.” Rimuru said to his skill as he maneuvered around the figure to look at their face. “Actually they look Japanese to me…” Rimuru speculated.
”Answer, can not perform further analysis, this individual has a form of spatial interference that prevents me from further analyzing them.” Great Sage stated.
“I see.” Rimuru responded. He continued to scute towards the figure trying to see what was bugging him about this teen. As he did the figures hand twitch, which was the only warning that they woke up before swinging a blue stick at the Slime.
”!” Was the only warning Great Sage could give to Rimuru who barely dodged the swipe. The figure groaned as they slowly slowly started to sit up holding their head in slight pain.
As the figure sat up, Rimuru got a good look at them. They looked like a japanese teenage boy, what Rimuru thought was just green hair, was green hair with purple streaks and patches going down their unruly hair, as well as a green and a purple eye, both of which looked tired if the small eye bags said anything.
They wore a simple black shirt and pants, but they were covered in burned patches and scratches scattered across their clothing.
“A new place huh.” The teenager said as they scanned their surroundings, eyeing the cave, the minerals and the plants surrounding them, before finally landing on the blue Slime before them.
“A slime…” The teenager questioned as they stared at the Slime before them, definitely on edge as they sensed the magicules pouring off the small monster.
Combining his skills he gathered earlier from Veldora (Magic Sense) and the Cave Bat monster (Ultrasonic Wave), Rimuru took a deep breath and spoke out loud for the first time since he reincarnated.
“Greetings, I’m not a bad Slime, slurp.” Rimuru accidentally yelled out the classic line from Dragon Quest, noting the familiar look in the teenager's eyes as they recognized that line. “I'm guessing that you're not from around here. Well neither am I. Nice to meet ya bud.” Rimuru greeted the teen while stretching part of his body, mimicking a handshake.
The teen looked at the slimey appendage before him and back at the Slime, and slowly relaxed before taking the slimes ‘hand’ and finally talked to the Slime.
“Nice to meet you Mr. Slime.” The teen slightly smiled at Rimuru. “Where am I exactly, I'm not sure where I am right now.”
Rimuru looked at the teen with a sparkle in his eyes as he saw his chance to meet another Japanese person. “Nice to meet you too kid, the name’s Rimuru Tempest, and as you can see I'm a slime.” Rimuru then did his best at a cool pose, but he once again yelled everything out loud as he hadn't had much practice talking to others through his Slime body.
The teen, not really affected by Rimurus yelling, stood up and picked up the Slime and seemed to study it for a bit. After a few silent minutes, the teen looked Rimuru in the eyes (or what would be his eyes) and spoke. “My name is Izuku Midoriya, and I'm a sage.” The teen said with a small smile that seemed to say a lot more than his words.
Rimuru looked at Izuku in confusion as he compared the teen to his Great Sage skill. What does he mean ‘Sage’?
”Answer. There are many kinds of sages throughout civilization and time. For example there were Sages residing over Time, Knowledge, and Wisdom.” Great Sage supplied.
‘Ah that made a lot more sense’, Rimuru thought. He then looked back at Izuku who was still looking at him weirdly. “What Sage are you then?” Rimuru questioned the teen.
Izuku looked at Rimuru for a long second before responding. “I am a Sage of Souls.” Izuku said with all seriousness, as Rimuru looked at him in more confusion. “Your soul didn't originate from that body, and considering that there is magic in the air, as well as unknown plants and minerals and that overwhelming magic flowing from your body - I'd say you were recently reincarnated from Japan, hence that game reference you made, and how unused to you body you seem to be.” Izuku only smiled at Rimuru who looked at him in shock for hitting the head on the nail. “Well more a Sage of the souls of the living.” Izuku corrected himself.
Izuku got most of every detail right, just from a short conversation.
”It is surmised that the individual known as Izuku can see everyone's Souls and read them like an advanced version of Analyse, that only he can see.” Great Sage supplied to the shocked Rimuru.
‘Wait so does that mean he can see all my skills, including you Great Sage?!’ Rimuru worriedly thought.
…
‘I'll take that as even Great Sage doesn't know that answer’ Rimuru thought as he tries to put a thought guy act in front of Izuku. “Yeah, so what if I was reincarnated here, weren't you too, huh kid.” That seemed to make Izuku flinch as he avoided eye contact.
“I …” Izuku started but didn't seem to want to finish. “I wasn't reincarnated, like you Mr. Rimuru.” Izuku politely informed the Slime. “I'm… kind of stuck here … I think.” Izuku frowned as he closed his eyes and concentrated for a second before letting out a defeated sigh.
Not catching onto Izuku's distress, Rimuru pressed further. “Were you summoned then? I don't mean to be rude but you kind of just appeared here after a fight with a demon or something.” Rimuru halved jokes. Izuku once again flinched, but more out of hate this time.
“I'm not from this world Mr. Rimuru.” Izuku stated as the top of his hair appeared to droop down from a memory.
Rimuru looked at the boy who went from polite to sad just by answering a few curious questions. Thinking about it, maybe he had been a bit rude.
“Look, I'm sorry for whatever happened to you, I was a bit rude. You are the first Human I've encountered since reincarnation here a few months ago, I just got desperate to talk to someone.” Rimuru rubbed the back of his head shyly.
“It's fine, just some recent memories started coming back.” Izuku nodded, rubbing his arms where a particularly bad burn was. It was a messy black color compared to his natural skin.
”Attention. Using the Hipokute Herbs you had gathered earlier, I can extract the healing properties out of them and make a healing Potion out of it.” Great Sage exclaimed much to Rimurus delight.
‘Really! That's great, thanks a lot pal.’ Rimuru mentally praised his skill, which seemed to take enjoyment from it, as a few seconds later, a glowing blue ball appeared from Rimuru’s Slime appendage.
“Here ya go pal, this will heal you right up.” Rimuru cheerily said as he offered the Healing Potion to Izuku. Izuku looked skeptically at Rimuru before taking the healing potion from Rimuru. As he did, the potion exploded on him and soaked him.
The healing potion got to work as it slowly healed all Izuku's cuts and burns. The cuts all closed up and returned to Izuku's natural skin tone, the burns disappeared and left behind no traces of them ever happening. Izuku's eyes widened as this happened and looked at his past struggles slowly disappear.
Izuku was so shocked that his hair started to shake slightly before two fox-like ears popped out of his head.
Rimurus non-existing eyes widened as the ‘human’ infront of him suddenly sprouted fox ears. ‘Was this what you were talking about Great Sage? About Izuku not being completely Human?’ Rimuru questioned his skill.
Yes, The individual known as Izuku had too many magicules and injuries to possibly be ‘just a Human’” Great Sage stated what should have been obvious if Rimuru had paid more attention.
Rimuru sweat dropped at Great Sages criticism. Rimuru then activated his Magic Sense skill and looked at Izuku. Izuku's magicules count did not come anywhere close to Veldoras uncountable magicules, but he had a lot more than any monster Rimuru had encountered. His magicule were contained and formed a fine outline of his body, shaped like a candle's flame.
Izuku suddenly stood up, interrupting Rimurus' inner monologue and looked down at the Slime with a grateful smile on his face.
“Your very kind Mr. Rimuru.”
“What do you mean my dude?” Rimuru questioned.
“I’ve never met a monster who actually heals others they just met.” Izuku softly smiled.
Rimuru stared at Izuku confused.
“Just… Thank you… It means a lot.” Izuku simply said.
“You're welcome my dude.” Rimuru gave Izuku a slimey thumbs up.
With a smile still on his face, Izuku began looking around the expansive cave, noting the seemingly infinite amount of corridors.
“So, how do we get out of here Mr. Rimuru?”
