| Shane knew he should have been suspicious when Ryan showed up unannounced with a greasy bag of burritos from The Brilliant Burrito. However, it was a little taqueria that had the best burritos in 100 miles, so he wasn’t about to turn free burritos away. When Shane raised an eyebrow at his unannounced visitor, Ryan just shrugged and smiled sheepishly. "I had a craving," he said and pushed past Shane, barley suppressing a shiver when their chests brushed. Shane just shrugged and closed the door. “Can you grab some beers out of the fridge, I haven’t had a chance to change.” Ryan waved him off to the bedroom. “Sure, just hurry up. I got carne asada fries too, and those suck cold.” Shane rushed to his bedroom and quickly dug through his drawer, looking for his favorite sweats. Carne asada fries really were best eaten piping hot. “You know the nosy Abuela that always insists on taking our order?” Ryan asked as Shane emerged from his bedroom. The paper bag he was unpacking was suspiciously bigger than what their normal order required. “The one who's convinced we’re married, no matter how many times we tell her we’re not together? Yeah, kinda hard to forget.” “Right? Well she was acting really strange tonight. She kept asking where you were, why you weren’t with me.” He pulled two large burritos out of the bag, followed by a candle. “I finally had to tell her I was just picking up food for both of us. Which is why I have so much. And why I’m here. You know if I took this all home, I’d make myself sick eating it all.” Shane snorted. “That’s true. But hey, I’m always happy to not have to cook, so feel free to buy me dinner any time.” Ryan was now pulling two ziplock baggies out of the paper bag. One full of salsa containers, the other full of…rose petals? “So you know I can’t lie to an Abuela. I swear if I do, mine will know and call just to yell at me. Where’s your lighter?” He started sprinkling the rose petals on the coffee table, then set out the two plates he grabbed when he was in the kitchen getting the beers. Shane handed over his lighter with a bemused smile on his face. “When I finally convinced her that the food was for both of us, she insisted I take this candle, and the rose petals. And then she made me promise that I would light the candle and scatter the petals on the table.” “And you can’t lie to an Abuela.” “Exactly! She also said that we should write each other’s names on this piece of paper, and set it next to the candle as we eat. Do you have a pen?” “Let me make sure I have this straight,” Shane said as he dug through a junk drawer for a pen. “You went to our favorite taqueria to get dinner for yourself, and when the taqueria Abuela guilted you into buying enough for me, you not only caved, but you also let her convince you to perform a love spell for both of us. That sound about right?” “Yeah, pretty much.” Ryan said distractedly as he took the proffered pen from Shane. Or, he tried to. When Shane held on to the pen, he looked up, confused. Shane smiled. “We don’t need a love spell, Baby.” He said, and leaned down to seal his declaration with a kiss. *bonus* Ryan broke the kiss with a smile. “You’ll still write my name on the paper, right?” Shane snorted and sat down to eat. “Yes, I’ll still write your name down.” Ryan beamed. |
