Chapter Text
The cold wind blew softly on his face, making his hair slightly messy. It's been a long while since he came up here, to this stupid monastery on this stupid mountain. So many stairs, he feels like he'll climb them forever. That's until the monastery gates came into view.
He really never expected to come back here, he promised himself he wouldn't. But desperate times lead to desperate measures. Such as asking help from his uncle.... He snapped back to reality when he heard some growlling from the sky, which made him look up. He saw dragons, four.
"Huh... Looks like you found your little ninjas uncle. Tch.... They look stupid on those gi's." He mumbled to himself. Reluctantly he looked back at the gates of the monastery. Okay Tommy... Just knock, ask your question, then leave. It's easy right?
He didn't even have the chance to knock before the gates opened from inside. He cursed under his breath when he saw a girl. He was taller than her, but she seemed, friendly, and surprised. Of course, it's not everyday you open gates of where you live at and there's someone standing there, coincidentally....
"Oh, uh, can I help you?" She asked hesitantly, surely didn't expect Tommy there. She wore red clothes, had a black hair and striking blue eyes. Hm... Maybe that old man left...?
"Uh, yes actually. Is there any chance an old man called Wu still lives here?" The girl seemed to be more relaxed after I mentioned my uncle's name. Yeah, he surely is still here, and she's either a student or, something. "Yes, yes he does. Are you an friend or, something?" "Sort of..." Tommy mumbled before looking inside and seeing the old man walking towards them both.
"Nya, would you excuse us? I would like to talk with him." The girl nodded and Tommy watched as she walked away. He know this monastery with the palm of his hand, she's in one of the bedrooms. Must have one of her own while those ninja share the other. "Glad to see you again dear nephew. It has been a long long time hasn't it?" Wu tried to step closer to give what seemed to be a hug, before Tommy stepped back, refusing to give the old man one.
"You owe me answers. And I'm here for them." Tommy glared at the man who sighed before stepping back to let him enter the monastery. The gates closing behind him with a loud thud. "This place didn't change at all..." "I'm glad you feel at home nephew." Wu smiled softly, putting a hand on the young boy's shoulder and guiding them both to his room, where some tea and talk waited them. "It's not what i said..."
...
Tommy spent a while drinking tea with his uncle, like old times. Not that he wanted it, but Wu wasn't the kind to back down from wanting something... "Okay old man. We had tea and talked, just like you wanted. Now you'll give me answers won't ya?" Wu sipped his tea calmly, like they both had all the time in the world to discuss.
"Patience nephew. You're too anxious. The tea was supposed to calm you down a bit." Wu put his tea down and looked at Tommy. As if expecting him to magically calm down.
"Oh, oh I'm so sorry uncle. I didn't know the tea was supposed to calm me down. Would you like that? Having me calm?" Ezra mocked before scoffing. "I would be calmer if you stopped wasting my time! I want to know where Lloyd is!" Before the old man could even move his lips, a distinguished sound of distress was heard from the training area. As soon as they got there the place was on fire, literally. Oh first spinjitsu master, those are the oh so Ninjago saviors? They can barely handle the golden weapons!
Tommy watched as his uncle used the Shurikens of Ice to put the fire off. It was obvious the man was angry, especially when he shouted asking what were they thinking. "We were just trying to figure out who's the green ninja!" The one in blue spattered out, receiving glares from the others. "D-Did I say green ninja? No, sorry, ahem, what I said was lean."
"You weren't supposed to see that, you are not ready." Wu sighed as he turned away. Wow they're all just ignoring me and my existence, how great. Tommy scoffed mentally, before noticing how the one in white stared at him curiously. Except that one... I guess... Tommy just watched as master Wu went to enter his room once again, being disappointed in the ninja. "If this is what it must take for you to train then so be it! But none of you are near the level of what it takes to be the green ninja..."
With that, his uncle entered his room and closed the door, leaving Tommy alone with a bunch of useless and stupid colored ninja. Who can't even control their own weapons."Uh, is no one else questioning this emo kid being here?" The one in blue said, was he always trying to be the clown?
They all turned to face Tommy and he just glared at them. "Yeah, who are you? What are you doing here talking to our sensei?" The one in red immediately stepped up, as if he was some sort of leader. What? He thinks he can intimidate me just cuz he's taller? "I'm Tommy, and I'm just paying my uncle a little visit. Nothing wrong with that."
"Wait- did you just say, uncle??" The one in black gasped out. "Then that must mean-" The one in white could barely finish his sentence before the blue one screeched like a squirrel. "You're Lord Garmadon's son!" They all gasped in unison. The red one just glared more intensionally at him. "Oh wow, we've got a Sherlock Holmes here." Tommy scoffed, oh how he wanted to wipe that glare off his face. "One son is already a surprise, but two??? How can someone be brave enough to have kids with the Lord Garmadon???" Tommy glared at the ninja, not really knowing who said that but he wished he did, to fucking punch them in the face But they were interrupted with his uncle, who came out of his room desperately.
"The serpentine are back! Everyone in Jamanakai village is in danger!" The serpentine? Oh no, that's not good at all. "Calm down sensei, we were just there! It was just some kid saying he's—" "The spirit smokes does not lie. An ancient evil has been released!" Can't those kids just go?!
"Wait, Nya's in there right now!" The red one immediately went for the stables, along with the others. "Should I go with them uncle?" The old man sighed. "No Tommy, they must learn to fight evil. They must learn to fight again." "What, they're out of shape? Wow, would've never noticed it until you said so." Tommy mocked, immediately receiving a glare from his uncle. "Sorry."
"Even so, I'm glad you were willing to go with them to fight the serpentine nephew. Though I'm surprised, didn't you swear to never fight again?" Tommy shrugged. "It's the serpentine, and they're just a bunch of useless colored ninja." Wu chuckled. "Well, let's go then, they wait for us." The man guided Tommy to the stables, both getting in his white and golden dragon.
"I don't understand, why are we going there? You said they needed to learn how to fight again?" "Yes, I did, but I know the fight will be over once we're there. And also, I must introduce you to them, mustn't I?" It was a long flight to Jamanakai village, and Wu was right. Once they got there ,the fight was over. The red one came to their direction, giving Tommy a glare before turning to Wu.
"We're sorry sensei. If we dealt with Lloyd before he became a problem, none of this would've been necessary." "Even lessons learned the hard way, are lessons learned." Wu glanced at Tommy, who must've been driven out of his thoughts upon hearing his brother's name. "Hm. A great evil has been released. I fear troubling times will soon arrive. This... Is only the beginning of it."
All of them gathered around Wu, while Tommy stood back, along with Nya (he found out that was her name when they mentioned she being in Jamanaki village). "Then we will train! And be ready for the serpentine." The white one said as he handed the serpentine staff to Wu. "It may not be Lord Garmadon, but that doesn't mean we won't bring our A game!" The black one cheered.
Tommy looked around, seeing it he could find Lloyd, but he didn't. He must've run with the serpentines, the ninja did say he was controlling them somehow? "There's much to teach. We must return to the monastery." They all started walking towards the dragons, and Tommy was about to walk away. It's not like he had a reason to go back with them. He had a clue where Lloyd was, and he would follow it before the trail was lost. But the white one touched his shoulder. "Aren't you coming too?"
Huh? Tommy looked back at him. Why did he want him with them? Didn't they all glare at him once hearing he was Garmadon's son?? "Why would I? The only reason I went to talk with the old man was to find any clue where Lloyd might've been. Now I know where he is, and I will bring him back." "Well, but you don't know where he is. You only know he is with the serpentine, and they didn't even leave a trail behind them..." The one in white watched as Tommy sighed, he seemed distressed, tired, exhausted maybe. "I'm Zane by the way, did introduce myself properly." He reached a hand to shake.
Tommy glanced at the gloved hand, extended out for a handshake. "Zane huh... That's a nice name." Tommy shook his hand and watched the other ninja trying to get in their dragons but the dragons played with them. "I don't think I should go with you all. I'm Garmadon's son remember?" Zane just tilted his head. "And does that make you any less human?"
Tommy froze for a second. "Hm... I guess it doesn't exactly does.... But... Still, my uncle may accept me, but what about the others huh? Having their nemesis son sleeping under the same roof as them? Not really nice I would say." Zane chuckled. "I'm sure me and Sensei can talk them out. You need a place to stay as far as I've noticed. You're exhausted and anxious. Just stay until we find your brother."
Tommy sighed. "You're persistent like Wu. Did he teaches you all that?" Talking about the devil, Wu walked into their direction. "Something's wrong?" "Sensei. I believe we could let Tommy stay with us. He only wants to find his brother doesn't he? And Lloyd is right now with out current enemies. If we defeat the serpentine, we can bring Lloyd back." Tommy noticed the small smirk-like smile the old man gave him. He surely knew Zane would try and make Tommy stay with them.
"Uuugh, fine fine. I'll stay with you all. Just until we bring Lloyd back okay? After that I'm leaving." Wu nodded. "Very well nephew. Zane, would you give him a ride with Shard? Nya's already with me. And I also think it's an nice opportunity for you two to know each other." Wu chuckled and walked back to the others.
Well... Seems like I'm staying put for a while... Whatever. Tommy shrugged and walked with Zane back to his dragon, Shard. Who seemed at esse around Tommy, even nuzzling against his hand for pets perhaps. "Hm, how unusual. The dragons usually don't like strangers." Tommy chuckled as he petted Shard and glanced at Wu with a knowing look. "Let's say, I have a way with dragons. Heh."
