Chapter Text
It has been a while since Salome had last dressed up for such a job. 10 years since she was ousted from her official position within the Astral Metropolis. Anyways she had applied for a position to 'teach' at Night Raven Collage. The girls don't know where she is at the current moment but she trusts that they can handle themselves. Although Viva needs to have her medicine right on the dot each time. She's sure that the others would get it done.
Currently she is waiting outside an office. She frowns. How can such an employer be tardy to an interview. After a while the door opens.
"Ah, Miss Notaris! Right on time. Come in, we have much to do."
The headmage's office has portraits of the great seven floating above the desk in the middle of the room. She was lead over to sit in a chair and Crowley sat at his desk.
“I am Dire Crowley. The headmage of this prestigious college.” He held his arms out as a show of flair at his introduction.
Salome nodded, “It is a pleasure.”
The interview went on with Crowley asking the questions and Salome confidently answering them. She was preparing for the right moment to introduce her risky proposal. “If hired, I would like to run an elective class detailing the rise and fall of a supposed empire.”
The words ‘supposed empire’ caught Crowley's attention. Curiousedly, he asked Salome about what she meant.
“Well this may sound crazy, but I come from another world, universe perhaps.”
After Salome's explanation, Crowley was thinking deeply on what he just heard.
“It's like a cultural exchange and this elective will help prove the importance of media and why it is important to keep a finger on the pulse on events that affect the lives of people.”
Crowley was taken aback by Salome's insistence on such a class. “I will give it a thought. For I am gracious.”
“Thank you for considering my proposal.”
Salome knew she was asking a lot. Thinking of the girls she took in as students, they needed to have a way to the unfiltered truth. Especially Viva, a human girl who assumed the role of a guardian for her land; a witness to the execution of her sister. The others were unfortunately dragged into this whole conflict.
Silence hung in the air as she watched Crowley consider his decision.
He picked up her resume which had been on his desk. “Very well, but I would like for you to handle an additional job for the school. You have some experience as an academic adviser, correct?”
“Yes.”
“I would like for you to also take that role for our students. Some of them need a push before they can break out of their shell to become fully fledged mages.”
“Very well. A student can only do so much without the right guidance. I've seen many instances where they fall from their sandy foundations. Though in the end, they are able to pick themselves up and keep pushing forward.” She smiled as she reminisced on observations she's seen from her students of the past.
Her new coworkers may find her to be a pushover, but she doesn't mind. They are only human, after all. Some of them had mistaken her as fae, and she promptly corrected their assumptions. A being from the divine. Of course, she would be able to take on more.
She hopes to get out of this meeting as soon as possible. After all, leaving 8 teenagers in a house without supervision is either asking for the place to blow up or a really nonsensical argument to break out.
