Notes:

Title from 'Love you to death' by London after midnight <3

I'm suffering from the lack of fanfics in this fandom so i had to write my own
Also this is the first ever fanfic I'm publishing please have mercy on my soul

This first chapter is kind of like some context for what's next, don't mind it too much. It's also more focused on Ren's thoughts, the next will alternate.

Enjoyyy

Chapter Text

The TV was playing somewhere in the background, some anime Angel wanted to watch. But Ren wasn’t paying attention to neither the flashy battle scenes on the screen nor the soft pitter patter of the rain against the windows of his apartment. All he could focus on was her presence at his side, her head rested lightly on his shoulder, her legs draped over his; he couldn’t believe that after all those years, after all his efforts, after everything he had been through to get to her again, she was finally his.

Even though they had been together for two months now, Ren was still in disbelief, he expected at every moment that he would wake up from this perfect dream of his, but that never happened, the girl he had dreamed of for all those years loved him, and he adored her with every fiber of his being.

As the episode ended and the credits theme started playing, Angel raised her head from Ren's shoulder only to find his soft blue eyes already gazing at her, his hand tracing small circles on her thigh.

"You seem unusually quiet. Were you paying attention to the episode, or is something on your mind?" she asked in her usual soft voice that made Ren feel like he was practically melting right in front of her, the tone of her voice growing more concerned as she uttered the last words of her question. Ren was snapped out of his train of thought, his eyes actually focusing on her face this time.

He couldn’t tell her he didn’t see a single frame of the anime they were supposed to be watching, instead taking in every detail of her beautiful frame, from her slender fingers adorned with silver rings to the way her hair framed her face, the TV light reflecting in her glassy eyes in a way that made it impossible for him to not be mesmerized. Of course, he didn’t want to lie to her but would she be weirded out if he told her the truth? He was already keeping way too many secrets from her but if that meant she would stick by his side he had to put his guilt aside. He noticed Angel staring expectantly at him, he was in his thoughts for too long for sure.

"I- no, nothing's wrong! I was... paying attention of course..." How was he so bad at lying all of a sudden? Maybe he was just too flustered by her piercing gaze. But Angel quickly caught onto his lie, raising an eyebrow at him "Really? Then tell me what happened in the last episode." Her tone was somewhere between skeptical and playful, not wanting to dampen the mood but also wanting to find out if something was worrying her lover.

"Um… well..." his words trailed off, trying to grasp onto any little memory he had of seeing the characters in his peripheral vision but nothing came to his mind, only the soft skin of his beloved angel was like imprinted on the inside of his eyelid. He sighed, giving up on trying to lie his way out. "Okay, maybe I wasn't paying attention, I’m sorry angel. I'll watch it some other time to catch-"

Angel didn’t let him finish his sentence, raising a hand in front of his face to stop him. "You don’t need to do that, I was the one who wanted to watch this anyway. But now tell me, is there something bothering you?"

Ren awkwardly scratched the back of his head, there was nothing wrong, nothing she was expecting to hear at least.

After a moment of silence, Angel's soft voice reached Ren's ears "You always look at me like I'm going to disappear at any moment"

His eyes widened. Had he been that obvious? Oh no, was Angel bothered by this? Had he been too clingy? He took a deep breath in an effort to calm his racing thoughts, to not let them be seen on the outside. "It's just... I can’t believe it… Can't believe I get to be by the side of somebody so perfect" he muttered.

Her cheeks grew a light shade of pink before she leaned over to place a soft peck on Ren's cheek. "You're so sweet... I've told you so many times that you're the one that should he called angel" she chuckled lightly as she rested her head back onto his shoulder, nuzzling her face into him.
