Chapter Text
The end of the year was nearing, and James couldn't be dreading the day he had to let go of his lover for the entirety of the two months between terms. He had tried to convince Regulus to come with him for the summer, telling him he could stay at his house, yet Regulus explained why he couldn't each time.
James ran a hand through his lovers hair, watching the other slowly wake up from his peaceful sleep.
"Good morning love" He whispered, and Regulus eyes adjusted to the light and took in his surroundings.
The two had made a habit of staying overnight at each others dorms, wanting to be together as much as possible, using silencing charms, so they could speak freely in the evenings and mornings. James wasn't exactly a big fan of all the sneaking around they were doing, especially around his friends, but understood Regulus' needs, and there was always a certain charm to the privacy and secrecy they could keep.
"Bonjour mon amour" Regulus answered quietly, nuzzling his head deeper into James' neck. "Quelle heure est-il?" He asked sleepily, clearly still haven't woken up.
James, who had learned quite a bit of french ever since Regulus started waking up in his arms, unable to conjure english until well into breakfast, looked down at his lover and ran his hand along the smooth skin on his back, eliciting somewhat of a purr from his lovers lips. "It's six twenty love," he answered after checking the time. "We still have a few minutes, but we should get going before peter and Siri start getting up." As he said that, he heared Remus stumble out of bed and make his way slowly to the bathroom.
Remus was the only of the Marauders who knew about his and Regulus' relationship, agreeing to keep it a secret until Regulus felt ready to tell his brother, as well as his family. He had had the misfortune of walking in on the two kissing on James bed without a silencing charm, walked out, and later confronted the two about the situation, and reminded them to be careful.
"non! je ne veux pas encore partir" Regulus sleepily told James, who only hugged him tighter. "I know love, but you know we cant risk Siri finding out." James answered quietly.
Five minutes later the two were putting on their clothes to leave, Regulus putting on the Invisibility cloak, and following James out of the Gryffindor common room. "La prochaine fois qu’on ira chez moi, chérie, on n’aura pas à se faufiler comme ça." Regulus said, as the two were saying their goodbyes. James knew that staying at the Slytherins place would be less risky, as Regulus' roommates were well aware of the two's relationship after an instance of Evan and Barty walking in on the two in a rather intimate situation, and letting them know that they don't mind if they're open about their relationship in their room.
"Sure love, we can stay at your's tonight?" James asked with a lopsided grin, getting a kiss in response, before Regulus made his way to his own common room to shower, while James went back to his own to go down to breakfast with his friends.
After meeting with his friends and waiting for everyone to get ready, they made their way down to the great hall. Before they had a chance to make it there, they were stopped by Evan, who looked at them with a pained expression as if he's rather be anywhere but there. "You four. A word?" He asked. The four of them stopped to listen. "There is a Slytherin party, tommorow, people want you there so show up." He said quickly before walking away. James smirked at him, seeing as he was probably being forced to go tell them by the rest. Evan gave him a smile back, before dissapearing behind a corner.
"What the hell was that about" He heared Sirius say, most likely directed at Remus.
"Did we really just get invited to a Slytherin party?" Peter then said quietly, in disbelief.
"Seems so!" James answered happily, knowing he was already invited the week prior by the group, but glad that his friends got invites too. Now he just needed to figure out who he would go with, and how he would have fun with all friends without it becoming an issue.
Ehhh, he'll probably figure something out.
