Chapter Text

A young man watched the TV as it showed a winged red-headed girl duke it out with another guy with a bird head. Although he had a powerful quirk, a living shadow creature, the red-head managed to win their round.

Sanada Chihiro. What a familiar name.

He barely focused on the other matches until it was Sanada’s turn once again. This time, she fought a kid with explosions. He overwhelmed her, and she fell to the ground, losing this match.

The young man sighed in disappointment. Oh well, she did make a good showing, so it’s not all for nothing. The young man once again tuned out the rest of U.A. 's Sports Festival, and focused on working on his device.

“Hey, you were at the Sports Festival, right?”

Sanada Chihiro was surprised to be recognized in the train, but perhaps she should’ve expected it. The Sports Festival was televised after all.

“Yes, I am,” Chihiro answered. Other people were listening, causing a small commotion.

“You did great back there!”

“So cool!”

“You lost to that Gen Ed kid, but he was a different breed and you held your ground. Good job!”

Chihiro couldn’t help but blush. “Thank you, everyone. I really appreciate it.”

“Do your best, hero!”

Eventually, Chihiro made it to U.A. Entering Class 1-B’s room, she was greeted by one of Monoma’s rants.

“What a joke!” exclaimed Monoma. “The powerhouse of 1-A, defeated by a Gen Ed kid? How pathetic!”

“Don’t look down on him, Monoma,” defended Fukidashi. “That guy may be in the General Course, but he was tough.”

“I second that,” Chihiro said, making her presence known. “He was a worthy opponent. I hope I can face him again one day.”

Chihiro took her seat and decided to change the subject. “The people on the train recognized me from the Sports Festival. It was so strange.”

“Yeah, me too!” said Fukidashi.

“I guess being on TV changes things,” thought Komori. “Especially the ones who made it to the tournament.”

“People were still telling me ‘it’s okay,’” lamented Bondo.

“It’s okay,” teased Tokage.

Soon their homeroom teacher, Vlad King entered the classroom, and the students settled down.

“Everyone, we have a special class today!”

The whole class tensed, wondering what they’ll be doing…

“It’s time to pick your hero names!”

Their worries turned to cheers.

Vlad King grinned. “But first, I would like to congratulate everyone who got internship offers.” As he said that, the screen showed the names of said students.

Fukidashi Manga - 359

Sanada Chihiro - 332

Shoda Nirengeki - 299

Kendo Itsuka - 50

Bondo Kojiro - 22

Everyone expected that most of the ones who got internships were the ones who fought in the tournament, but their Class Representative also getting some was a welcome surprise.

“Good job, class rep!” said Tokage, patting Kendo in the back. Her face was red.

“I guess 1-A got all the attention again,” Kamakiri sighed.

Vlad King noticed the gloomy atmosphere. “Don’t worry! Everyone would get to partake in the internships!”

That made the whole class perk up.

“That’s what the hero names are for, right?” Tetsutetsu exclaimed.

“Correct! So think carefully about what you’d like to call yourselves. These names are temporary, but be careful when choosing, as they will reflect the mind of hero that you want to be.” Vlad King handed them whiteboards to be passed around. “Now, I’ll give you time to think, and then you can present your names here.”

Chihiro didn’t take long to figure out what her name would be. It’s simple, but it’s what her old bullies called her. Well screw them, it’s a cool name.

After a few of her classmates presented their hero names first, Chihiro went ahead and presented hers.

Hawkgirl.

Once they were done with presenting their names, Vlad King explained the internships.

“As I’ve said, everyone would take internships. Those with offers will be given a specialized list of selections, while the rest of you will be given a list of forty agencies willing to take on interns.”

Vlad King gave them the lists. “Submit your choices by the end of the week. Class dismissed!”

It didn’t take long after Vlad King left for the students to start mulling their choices.

“I want to fight violent crimes in the urban area!” said Tetsutetsu.

Chihiro had barely gone through her list when a specific name struck her.

“Hey Sanada, you okay?” Tokage approached her classmate who was frozen in shock. Tokage’s eyes widened when she saw Chihiro’s list.

“Holy crap! You got an offer from Hawks?!”

Now all attention was on her.

“No way!”

“The number 3 hero?!”

“That’s amazing!”

“Lucky!”

“Must be the wings.”

“W-What should I do?” Chihiro asked no one in particular. “Should I take it?”

“Well, duh!” Tokage answered. “This is a huge opportunity, you can learn a lot from him!”

“That’s true,” Chihiro nodded. Hawks was an obvious inspiration to her with their similar quirks and all. And he’s the number 3 hero, lauded by many to be the one who could surpass All Might.

With determination and encouragement from her classmates, Chihiro was the first to submit her choice of internship.

“Is everyone prepared?” Vlad King asked his students.

“Yes!”

Today was the day. The 1-B students were gathered at the train station, suitcases containing their hero costumes at hand.

Soon the class headed their separate ways. Chihiro took a deep breath as she entered the train headed to Kyushu.
