Butterfly... Turtle... Racoon...
Miranda frowned. This was not how she imagined she'd be spending her Monday morning. Someone was in big trouble. She didn't know who to place the blame on. She supposed she was partly to blame, not that she'd ever admit that. She cursed under her breath. She looked up to see Roy staring back at her through the rear-view mirror. Had she ever cursed around Roy before? From the shocked look on his face she didn't think so. She looked down again and focused on the task at hand.
Monkey... Chameleon... Rainbow...
Miranda sighed. How had it even come to this? Where had things gone so wrong?
___
"Glittery stickers?" Caroline said with a frown.
"Seriously?" Cassidy said in disbelief.
The two sat there in front of her by the kitchen table. Miranda leaned her elbows on the table and took a sip of her coffee. Andrea had just come home and walked into the kitchen. She stood there with a big folder of glittery stickers in her hands. Andrea held it out to the twins. They didn't seem too thrilled about this. Andrea was starting to look a little awkward.
"I saw it and thought of you two. I used to put stickers on everything when I was your age." Andrea shrugged with a smile.
"Are you sure about that Andrea?" Miranda asked.
"Huh?" Andrea said.
"Are you certain you were the girl's age when you had your sticker addiction?" Miranda gently asked.
"Uhm..." Andrea said. She looked up in the air with a thoughtful expression on her face, as if trying to remember. "I might have been a little younger..."
"We haven't bought glittery stickers in years..." Cassidy said.
"But your closet door is filled with them!" Andrea insisted. Cassidy arched an eyebrow.
"Yeah... they've been on that closet door since I was five...." Cassidy said.
"Oh..." Andrea said, looking a little embarrassed. The twins looked almost insulted that Andrea would bring them something like this.
There was an awkward silence in the air. Miranda was starting to feel bad for her girlfriend. Her heart was in the right place, but God, stickers of all things?! What had she been thinking?!
Miranda paused. It dawned on her. Oh. Andrea had bought them because she had wanted them, yet probably felt it was too silly to buy them for herself. Miranda glanced at the folder. The stickers were ridiculously cute. Andrea loved cute things. Yes, she had definitely bought them for herself, then gotten too embarrassed and decided to give them to the twins instead. Maybe she thought the twins would like them just as much since they were so cute.
"Andy..." Caroline said unimpressed. "-we're not little kids anymore."
Andrea's mouth dropped. She looked absolutely scandalized. She dropped the folder to the table and walked behind Miranda. She put her hands over Miranda's ears.
"Caroline Priestly! Do NOT say that around your mother!" Andrea said pretending to be shocked. "You are her little girls! You always will be so don't talk like that!"
The twins smiled and tried to hold back the laughter. Cassidy snorted into her glass of orange juice. Miranda bit her bottom lip, trying desperately not to smile. Sure, she didn't want them to grow up but this was ridiculous. Miranda shooed Andrea away with a wave of her hand. Andrea sat down next to her and grabbed some grapes to munch on. Miranda took another sip of her coffee.
"Andrea, why don't you give the stickers to one of your co-workers? You did mention some of them have children." Miranda said as she looked down at the big folder. Those stickers really were cute. If no one here wanted to use them they might as well go to someone who will. She looked at Andrea, who sat there with a frown on her face. Miranda reached out and took her hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. She gave Andrea a soft smile. "Of course, you can always just keep them yourself. I'm sure you'll find a good use for them."
"What?!" the twins both said.
Andrea and Miranda looked at the twins, who sat there looking a little hurt. Caroline reached out and grabbed the folder and held it close to herself.
"You're not giving away OUR stickers!" Caroline frowned.
"Yeah, that was gift from Andy!" Cassidy said upset. "Andy, you can't take a gift back!"
Andrea and Miranda simply stared. Sure, now they wanted the stickers. After being so ungrateful and giving Andrea such an attitude about them Miranda wasn't sure they deserved those stickers.
"Well, if you're going to keep them you better actually use them." Miranda said, giving them a look that told them they'd be in trouble if they didn't do just that.
"We will use them!" Cassidy said determined.
"Yeah, we love these stickers!" Caroline said stubbornly. Andrea chuckled.
"Sure you do..." Andrea rolled her eyes.
___
Miranda's frown deepened. Why had she encouraged them to use them?
Bunny... Strawberry...
Miranda stuck her nail between the fabric and the sticker. This unicorn was a stubborn one. She cursed yet again under her breath. She finally managed to get the sticker off. She leaned back in her seat and let out a deep breath. Finally, done. At least with this side. She turned her purse. The other side looked even worse. Stickers all over, covering the entire side. She looked up to see Roy looking back through the rear-view mirror. He quickly looked back at the road. She saw amusement in his eyes. His shoulders shook. Miranda narrowed her eyes.
"Do you find this funny Roy?" she asked in a soft yet deadly voice.
"N-no Miranda." Roy said nervously.
His shoulders kept shaking. She heard some wheezing. Roy was enjoying the crap out of this. Miranda sighed and looked down at her purse. She continued with her task and started removing a bigass ghost from her purse.
Fifteen minutes later Miranda walked into Runway with a sticker-free purse. She walked over to the receptionist's desk and put the book down so they could take it to the art department. She then started heading to her office. She had only made it three steps when she heard a snort. She stopped. She looked over her shoulder to see the receptionist sitting there with a smile on her face. Her smile dropped when she noticed Miranda was still there. Miranda looked down at the book. She stared. It took every shred of self control not to let her mouth drop.
There on the cover was a whole bunch of small stickers. How had she not noticed those earlier? It was pretty obvious who had done this. In colourful glittery letters the words Caroline was here. was written out.
Miranda pursed her lips. That girl had to get better at covering up her tracks. Caroline was definitely in trouble. Miranda ignored the confused look on the receptionists face and turned. She walked down the corridor. She was starting to lose her patience.
She walked into the outer office and took off her coat. Emily got up and took her coat to hang it up. She had only made it three steps before she heard a snort. Miranda stopped. Oh God, not again. She turned to see Emily smile while looking at her coat. She noticed Miranda staring and her smile dropped. Miranda reached out and pushed the fabric aside. There on the inside of her coat were at least twenty stickers. Miranda threw her head back and let out a deep breath. This was getting old fast.
"Remove those." Miranda said, then walked into her office. Emily better be careful with her favourite coat.
Miranda sat down by her desk and pulled out her phone. She looked through some texts. She furrowed her brows. Odd. Why did her phone feel so different? The backside felt weird against her fingers. She turned her phone and paused. There on the backside was yet another sticker. An emerald green dragon. Unlike the other stickers this one looked kind of cool.
Miranda arched an eyebrow. This one could stay.
Later that day Miranda walked out of a preview, yet again disappointed by an unimaginative designer. She had just wasted an hour looking at terrible designs, she was in a shitty mood. She had just reached the car when she heard a snort behind her. She stopped. She looked over her shoulder. Nigel who had been walking behind her also stopped. He stood there biting his lip trying to hold back a smile. Miranda narrowed her eyes.
"Yes Nigel?" she asked.
"Oh, nothing." Nigel shrugged as he tried and failed to hide his smile.
He was clearly amused by something. Miranda knew exactly what this was about. She took off her coat and turned it in her arms, trying to find whatever sticker Emily must have missed earlier. She huffed when she found nothing. She put on her coat again and glared at Nigel.
"Where is it?" Miranda demanded to know, completely out of patience.
"Where's what?" Nigel asked, pretending to be clueless.
"Nigel..." Miranda said in a warning tone.
"I haven't the slightest idea of what you're talking about." Nigel said innocently. He rounded the car and quickly got it. Miranda got in as well and glared at him. He looked a little nervous.
Mirada leaned down and tried to see if there was a sticker on her pants. If she had been walking around with a sticker on her pants all day and no one had spoken up, not only were the twins in trouble, all of Runway were in trouble. She would show no mercy. She looked around, she couldn't find a thing. Then she saw it. Miranda froze.
Under her shoe were the letters ANDY in purple glittery stickers.
She stared at it in disbelief. Had Andrea done this?
She heard wheezing. She looked up to see Nigel covering his mouth, his face red from trying not to laugh. He quickly looked out the window, avoiding the glare she was sending him. Miranda leaned back in the seat and forced herself to remain calm. She was not going sit here and rant to Nigel about annoying stickers. She refused. She was better than that. It was bad enough that the twins were messing with her like this, but she had never expected Andrea to go along with it. There was a tiny chance one of the twins could have put the stickers under her shoe, but she doubted it. This was definitely Andrea's doing.
Miranda pursed her lips. She didn't know what her revenge would be, but there would definitely be consequences for this.
___
Miranda stepped into the townhouse later that day. She took off her coat and walked down the corridor towards the kitchen. She glanced into the living room and stopped. There was Andrea lying on the couch with a book laid over her chest, sleeping peacefully. Miranda melted at the sight. She'd never get tired of coming home to her darling Andrea. She loved seeing her so relaxed in the townhouse. She had only moved in last month. Miranda was happy she already felt comfortable enough here to take a nap on the couch. She looked very at home. Miranda felt a warm feeling in her chest as she looked at the woman she loved.
Miranda frowned. She was supposed to be upset with her. Miranda reminded herself that she still had to take revenge. She definitely would do that when Andrea woke up. Miranda didn't want to wake her so she walked into the kitchen where the girls sat by the kitchen island playing some games on their phones.
"Hi mom." Cassidy said, amusement in her eyes.
"Did you have a good day?" Caroline smirked. Miranda spotted the sticker book on the kitchen island, then narrowed her eyes.
"I'm confiscating this." she said as she grabbed it.
"What?! No!" Cassidy said upset. Miranda rolled her eyes. The twins had gotten way too attached to this silly little sticker book.
"You can't!" Caroline quickly said.
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't." Miranda said crossing her arms.
"Well, uhm... Because... Because..." Caroline said, struggling to find a reason.
"Its Andy's turn next time!" Cassidy quickly said.
"Yeah. She's the one who brought that thing into the house!" Caroline agreed. "She didn't even try to stop us when we decorated your purse!"
"Is that so?" Miranda said. She could just imagine Andrea watching the twins make a mess of her purse and coat, not to mention the book. Andrea had probably been laughing her ass off, urging them on. Miranda refused to let this slide. She'd have her revenge.
"I suppose I'll let you keep it." Miranda said thoughtfully, already formulating her plan. "But I'm borrowing it for now."
"Why?" Caroline asked.
"Just want to look at it." Miranda lied. The twins looked back and forth between them. They looked very suspicious. She knew they didn't believe a word. "Why don't you two go upstairs and do your homework?"
"Ok..." Cassidy said, then reluctantly got up and the two started walking out of the kitchen. Cassidy looked over her shoulder at Miranda. "You promise to return the sticker book, right?"
"Yes. You'll get it back." Miranda reassured her.
The twins walked upstairs. As soon as they were gone Miranda walked into the living room with the sticker book in her hand. She quietly walked over to the couch, where Andrea was sleeping peacefully. Miranda smirked. Revenge time.
She slowly sat down next to Andrea, careful not to wake her. She looked at Andrea for a moment. She looked so relaxed. Her hair was slightly mussed. Miranda's eyes drifted to those lovely lips. Maybe she should just lean down and wake her with a kiss? It was so tempting. Miranda shook her head. No no, she was on a mission. No distractions.
She opened the sticker book and looked through the stickers. So many options. She decided to use only the cutest stickers she found. That way Andrea might forgive her when she saw the cute stickers. Miranda peeled off a ridiculously cute red panda sticker, then held it between her fingers. She looked at Andrea and quirked her lips. Hmm, where to start? She smirked and leaned a little closer. She pushed some hair back so it wouldn't be in the way. She very gently placed the sticker on Andrea's neck, then ran her finger over it a few times so it would stick. Miranda then looked in the sticker book and found a cute little raccoon. She placed it next to the red panda, keeping her touches light so Andrea wouldn't wake up. She kept doing this for the next few minutes, placing sticker after sticker on Andrea's neck and collarbone.
Miranda leaned back and looked at what she had done. She threw her head back and silently laughed. the only sound that escaped her was a tiny wheeze. She desperately tried to keep herself together. She couldn't just sit here smiling, she had to focus. She took another sticker and very lightly placed it on her forehead. Miranda bit her lip, desperately trying not to laugh. She was amazed Andrea could actually sleep through this. Then again, Andrea could probably sleep through a hurricane.
While continuing to carry out her revenge, her mind drifted. Never had she acted so silly with a partner before. All her previous relationships had been so different. She had always tried to be mature, to show her best side all the time. This relationship with Andrea was different. She felt like she could actually let herself go a little. She could do silly things like this without fear of being judged. Andrea had never mocked or made her feel dumb for acting this way, if anything she had been encouraging this silly behaviour. What she was doing right now was probably the silliest thing she'd done so far. She wondered if this was too dumb even for Andrea. Even if it was she wasn't worried, Andrea would probably just laugh it off.
Andrea's face now had ten stickers scattered around. Not nearly enough. Miranda smirked and looked down at the sticker book. Hmm, maybe a cute little fox this time?
Suddenly she felt Andrea's arms wrap around her waist. Before she knew what was happening Andrea pulled her towards herself. Miranda's face ended up pressed into the sticker filled neck. Andrea held her tight then dragged Miranda over herself and turned.
"Andrea!" Miranda yelped surprised. Andrea snorted then moved so Miranda ended up lying under her. A giggle escaped Miranda, she then mentally cursed at herself for making such a dumb sound.
"You thought I could actually sleep through that?!" Andrea asked amused. Miranda should have known Andrea had been awake. She wasn't sure exactly when she had woken up. She had looked very asleep the whole time. Andrea had actually fooled her, but she wasn't about to admit that.
Andrea moved to lay on top of her and glared down at her. Miranda supposed that was to intimidate her, but with her sticker filled face she just looked dumb as hell. Miranda giggled again. Fuck. She needed to stop making these embarrassing sounds. Andrea chuckled then took Miranda's wrists. She placed them against her chest then pressed herself against her, pinning her arms between them and holding them in place with one hand.
"Andrea!" Miranda said. It had meant to be a warning tone, she didn't think she sounded very intimidating as another giggle escaped her. Andrea kissed her neck and smirked against her skin.
"Did you really think it would be so easy to take revenge on me?" Andrea said. Miranda felt her hot breath against her skin. With their bodies pressed against each other like this Miranda nearly forgot what they were talking about. She tried to free her arms but Andrea had her firmly locked in place. Andrea leaned back a bit so they could look into each other's eyes. Miranda bit back a smile and tried not to laugh as she looked up at the sticker filled face.
"You look ridiculous." Miranda teased.
"Oh yeah?" Andrea asked as she raised her eyebrows.
"Yes." Miranda confirmed.
"Oh, you're in so much trouble." Andrea said in a low tone, a mischievous smirk on her lips. She took one of the stickers from her face, then pressed it against Miranda's cheek. She then melted as she looked down at Miranda. "Aww, that's so cute!"
Miranda pursed her lips, trying to intimidate her. Andrea chuckled then took another sticker from her face and placed it on Miranda's forehead. Miranda tried to wiggle free but Andrea didn't budge. Miranda had no choice but to let Andrea continue to place stickers all over her face and neck.
Miranda tried to pretend she hated this, but the truth was she loved seeing Andrea smiling like this. She knew she was lucky to be able to see that beautiful smile every day. After about a minute of this Miranda had just as many stickers on her face as Andrea did. Ok, so her revenge plan had failed. No big deal. Lying here with Andrea's body pressed against hers she found it hard to remember why she was even angry.
Andrea chuckled then reached for the sticker book. While Andrea was distracted Miranda saw her opportunity. She managed to free her hands and reached up to cup Andrea's face. Andrea was completely caught off guard, a gasp escaped her just before Miranda pulled her in for a deep kiss.
The sticker book was forgotten. Andrea nearly fell out of the couch as Miranda poured all her love into the kiss. She let her tongue glide against Andreas, not letting up for even a second. A moan escaped Andrea, then Miranda felt Andrea's hands venture down her body. She gasped as she felt Andrea's hand venture under her blouse, her warm fingers trailing upwards.
The need for air became too great. Andrea broke the kiss and buried her face in her neck, kissing and licking against a sensitive area under her ear. Miranda closed her eyes and buried her fingers in Andrea's hair, pushing her further against her neck. Andrea's skilful lips continued to kiss and suck on that sensitive spot. Miranda was in heaven. Andrea licked against a sticker, then spat as it got in her mouth. Miranda bit back a smile. Andrea removed the sticker and started kissing again. She slowly licked against her neck while her hand trailed over her ribs, up towards her chest.
"Mom-?"
Miranda opened her eyes at the sound of Caroline's voice. Andrea's hand quickly left her skin and she adjusted Miranda's blouse. Miranda pushed Andrea away and sat up, trying to regain her composure. She saw Caroline stand there in the doorway with an arched eyebrow.
"Caroline. Hi." Andrea smiled nervously as she sat up next to her. Andrea's face was completely flushed. The two sat there in the couch pretending like nothing had happened.
"Seriously... Get a room." Caroline rolled her eyes, then she saw the forgotten sticker book on the floor. She walked over and picked it up. "Cassidy wants this."
"But we're not done with it yet!" Andrea protested.
Caroline looked at their red sticker filled faces for a moment, then narrowed her eyes. "I think Cass and I can find a better use for them than whatever it is you two were doing with them..."
With that Caroline walked upstairs, looking totally unbothered by what she had just witnessed.
Andrea and Miranda sat there in silence for a moment. Miranda supposed she should be a little embarrassed, but she couldn't seem to care much. She looked over at Andrea. She saw a mischievous smirk creep up her lips. Suddenly Andrea threw herself at Miranda, pushing her back down into the couch and started kissing her neck. Miranda mentally cursed yet again as another giggle escaped her.
