"Anakin, you should really rest. You look like you haven't slept in three days," Obi-Wan said.
And he was right: Anakin hadn’t slept at all since his apprentice disappeared during the Second Battle of Felucia. How could he sleep, anyway? He couldn’t stop thinking and worrying about her—desperate to find any clue regarding her whereabouts.
"I can’t. I won’t rest until she’s back, Obi-Wan," he said, sighing as he ran a hand through his disheveled hair. "I should have been there with her—it’s my fault."
"You couldn’t possibly have known something would happen, Anakin. Trust in her training and her abilities; she has grown strong with the Force. She will be back." His former master lightly squeezed his shoulder, offered a comforting smile, and left him alone with his thoughts.
Master Plo had told him something similar: "If you have trained her well, she will find her way back to you."
It was surprising how quickly he had changed his mind about Ahsoka. When he first met her, he didn’t want anything to do with having a Padawan. Now, he couldn’t imagine his life without her as part of it. She was determined, fearless, and always up for a challenge—so much like him. Yet she was also kind, compassionate, and true-hearted. And he was sure that wasn’t his doing at all—it was simply who she was. He couldn’t have asked for a better apprentice, and he couldn’t bear the thought of losing her.
How many times had he told her how proud he was of her or how glad he was to have her as his Padawan? Not enough, he was sure. He had always struggled to express his emotions, partly because he was trained to suppress them and partly because he often got too embarrassed to find the right words. So, he decided to write her a letter.
Dear Ahsoka:
I know I don’t say this as often as I would like to, but I’m so proud of you, Snips. I’m glad to call you my Padawan, and you make the job of being a Master so easy.
You’re much more talented with the Force than you probably realize, and I feel privileged to witness your growth and progress. You are brave, smart, compassionate, and caring. But you’re also a warrior, and a kriffing good one.
You mean so much to me, Ahsoka. I’ve made more mistakes than I care to admit in my life, and there are few things I am truly proud of. But since you’ve been gone, I’ve realized that you are my greatest pride.
I won’t stop looking for you.
P.S. Don't get too cocky.
