Work Text:

Katsuki has a new problem. It's transparent, follows her everywhere, and keeps muttering in her ear because it's jealous that the thoughts in her head get to be inside her, and it doesn't.

Its name is 'Deku.'

“Hey there, Kacchan!”

She bristles at the grating voice. “Don’t call me that.”

“Haha, don’t be so uptight.” Deku says from her spot on the bed, kicking her feet and looking at Katsuki with a dopey grin.

Katsuki pinches the bridge of her nose. The audacity of this girl.

She just wants to focus on her work. This report is due in a couple of days, and Katsuki has never been the type to push something to the last second.

Unfortunately for her, there’s a green sewage plastered on her bed next to her. What Katsuki would give to take that seaweed and fry it. Creepy thing might like it.

“Leave me alone.”

“Can’t! If you move your arm, I’ll go with you.”

Katsuki puts her weight on the back of her chair, letting herself halfway fall and staring up at the ceiling.

What the hell did she do to deserve this?

Deku’s stupid face appears before her. Still smiling widely, no care in the world.

“Penny for your thoughts?”

“Fuck off and die.”

“Ah! You said the line!” Deku cheered, clapping her hands together.

What the fuck? What does that even mean?

“Also, I can’t. Already dead.” She waves her hand back and forth, enough that Katsuki might’ve felt some wind if she weren’t incorporeal. “But I mean, I can try? I haven’t jumped in this form.”

Katsuki groans and drags her hands down her face, stretching down the skin to let her eye sockets breathe in some air as well.

All she wanted for tonight was to finish a lab report. Just type up the results and her findings. It’s not hard work, just tedious. But tedious work still needs to get done.

The piece of shit looks to be around her age. Katsuki never asked details, but it was pretty clear what ended up happening.

Doesn’t take much to figure it out. Look at her. She says shit like jumping off, or casually talk about dying like it was nothing.

Katsuki would never.

“Can you at least shut up?”

Deku pouts, and Katsuki fights the urge to groan again.

“I thought you liked it more when I spoke? You said the staring was worse.”

“Rip out your eyes and put them in your mouth.”

“Haha, you’re so funny, Kacchan.”

Is she? Is she really?

“Okay, fine. I’ll be quiet.” Deku huffs and shoves her face into the pillow. Like that actually does anything.

Whatever. As long as she can focus now.

The twinge of guilt she feels is nothing. Stupid and completely irrelevant.

Katsuki was staying at her parents' house when she woke up to blue cuffs around her wrist.

Her eyes followed the chains to see a transparent wrist and a transparent girl, too. She was wearing some stupid t-shirt that said t-shirt on it, and well.

Katsuki had never been a horror fan.

After a few attempts to run away from the thing, with it only following her and being tugged along, she gave up and tried the next best thing. Bargaining.

As it turns out, the weird thing isn’t trying to kill her. Quite the opposite. Seems pretty happy to be stuck to her, weirdly. Calls her Kacchan. She tried to punch her for it, but her fist went through and caused a shiver down her spine. Eugh.

Katsuki has a life to attend to, so cutting it off is the only choice.

“So like, is there anything you want?”

“To stay by your side!”

“... No. To get you to the afterlife. Y’know, get rid of your burdens.”

“I’m not repeating myself, Kacchan.”

“That creepy ass nickname again– Listen. Do you remember anything? About your past life?”

The ghost nodded. Okay, great, something to work with.

“Alright, so tell me where to go. We’ll get you cut off from me in no time.”

The ghost’s lips thinned into a straight line.

“Kacchan…”

Seriously? That childish, cutesy nickname? She doesn’t even know who the hell this girl is! And how the hell does she know her name anyway?!

“Stop calling me that.”

“Kacchan, I want to stay. Nothing else.”

And that’s how Katsuki ended up with a ghost-dog.

“Mm. Kacchan. Let me inside you.”

“What the hell? No.”

“Please. That guy kept looking at you. I don’t like that. What if he wants to be inside you? I can’t let that happen. It should only be me. Kacchan, let me inside you.”

“Are you trying to possess me?”

“What? No!”

“You seem to want to be inside me a whole lot.”

“That’s a completely separate subject.”

“It’s not. We’re talking about it right now.”

“Let me in? Now? You’re so warm. I need you.”

“You’re so disgusting.”

“Is that a yes…?”

“Whatever.”

“Can you turn around? Close your eyes?”

Perched up on the bed, Deku smiles. “Why? Are you embarrassed? Shy, even?”

As if.

Katsuki has nothing to be ashamed of. She worked hard to get the body that felt most comfortable for her, and she wasn’t going to let some transparent piece of shit make her feel any type of way about it.

Didn’t mean she wanted to show her junk to it either.

“The concept of privacy. You ever heard of it, pervert?”

Deku shakes her head. This little…

“You’re gross. Get out of the room.”

Deku holds up her wrist, and Katsuki can now see blue chains cuffed to it. She shakes it, acting like it could make any fucking sound, and Katsuki could see the lights in her eyes. This is so monumentally stupid.

Fighting with a ghost is wrong, Katsuki. You look stupid fighting air, Katsuki.

“Then close your damn eyes!”

“It’s nothing I haven’t seen before, Kacchan.”

“Wha–?”

“Ghost stuff. Haha.”

She’s not buying that.

This fucking creep.

“I’ve seen dicks. Don’t worry.”

Katsuki’s hackles rise at the statement, so unrepentant and blunt. How? There was no way she was so obvious. Literally nobody could tell, so what the hell was this?

“And why the fuck would that be relevant to me?” Katsuki rounds in on the green little fuck, peering into her. Deku sticks her tongue out and tries to lick Katsuki’s lips. It phases through her, but Katsuki recoils anyway.

What is wrong with her?

“Don’t worry about it.”

Katsuki, you can’t choke out a ghost. It has no windpipes. It can’t die. There would be no point.

No, the point is that it would feel really good.

Point. It's incorporeal. No touch. No satisfaction.

The argument concludes. No choking out Deku.

“Deku.”

She raises her hands in defense, trying to seem innocent, but that won’t take back what she just said.

“I’ll close my eyes, Kacchan. Promise. So don’t be mad? I hate it when you’re mad.” Her fingers twitch, and her eyes anxious.

Not the issue. Not anymore. Katsuki can feel her nails dig into her palm, and her breathing is loud in her ear, everything being too much.

“How did you know?”

Deku frowns. “I’ve been watching you for a while now. I’ve seen you before. That’s all.”

Katsuki never asked, after all. Thought it was better to never know who Deku was, where she came from, why she knew Katsuki’s name, and why she was attached to her of all people as a ghost. When Katsuki had no idea who the little creep was.

Katsuki only knew her name. Even that was a sham. Just some weird nickname, because nobody would actually name their daughter Deku.

Thought it was better to ride it out and let her disappear. She would finally get enough. She would finally leave. Everyone does.

But Deku is still here. Her eyes obediently shut, and waiting for Katsuki to change her clothes.

Katsuki takes off her pants. There was barely any sound that could alert Deku, but she still checks, just in case.

She turns, and Deku is staring down. No shame. There’s blood dripping down her nose, somehow.

What the fuck.

Izuku has always been following around her Kacchan.

Kacchan doesn’t know this, but they were classmates in middle school. Izuku sat behind her and fell in love.

Her blonde hair. Her gruff voice. The focus on her studies.

How alone she was.

All of these things drew Izuku’s attention.

It started as a lukewarm interest.

Sure, she was interesting. Louder than most, a bit sensitive. Smart. Pretty.

Not much else. She wasn’t special. Just Katsuki, nothing else.

But Izuku was so wrong. She never knew someone could be so wrong, but she was. She felt it that day, and everything changed.

“Here.”

And she handed her a pencil. Because she noticed that Izuku didn’t have one, and was helping her out.

Why?

What’s the point of being so nice?

It gnawed at her.

So, Izuku followed her. Tried to get to the bottom of it. Find out what made Katsuki tick.

It became a habit, at some point. Obsession, eventually.

Love.

Izuku was in love.

Kacchan was special. Not Katsuki anymore, no no. That name wasn’t enough.

Kacchan. Her lovely Kacchan. Warm like the sun and shines twice as bright. Her guiding star, her light.

Izuku followed her everywhere. To her high school, to her university. She was listening from outside when she fought with her parents. She watched Katsuki get surgery, change, and beg for acceptance.

Not beg in a usual way. Beg in her own way. Without saying anything. Just wishing. Looking.

Izuku wanted to give that to her in spades. Planned to wed her, jump out one day and show her that there was already someone willing to accept her.

But it wasn’t time yet.

The night she died, Izuku was busy watching Katsuki.

She finally managed to find a spot on the ground that let her see into Katsuki’s room without issue. Climbing up a tree was stupid, risky, and pointless. If Kacchan saw her, it was a bust.

Izuku would just have to kill herself. No choice, oh well.

So, ground angle it was.

And how gorgeous an angle.

Here, she was able to see up Katsuki’s skirt and the striped panties she was wearing. The tip of her cock peeking out, pink and tempting. Izuku had never been so wet in her entire life.

And then, Katsuki’s hands reached the bottom of her shirt and began to pull it up. Taking it off. No curtains, no nothing. A perfect view.

She was so close! So close to finally seeing Kacchan’s highly coveted nipples. She could feel the drool drip down from her chin, but paid it no mind.

With one hand in her pants and the other on her binoculars, she had no guard against the shovel that came tumbling down on her head.

And so, Izuku was tragically murdered outside of the Bakugou residence. The murderer seemed to keep some dignity for her and fished her hand out, but well. A corpse is a corpse.

Izuku held no ill will against the person. She didn’t know who they were, or why they would kill her, but it’s all in the past.

The tragedy was not lost on her. Now, she couldn’t grow alongside her beloved Kacchan. Kacchan would grow old and die, and Izuku would be youthful forever.

There was a part that appealed to her, fucking an old Kacchan. Kacchan with wrinkles. Kacchan with saggy tits. Kacchan with laugh lines. Laugh lines Izuku gave her because she just smiled so much.

That was so not the point.

The point was!

The point was that Izuku was dead and unable to bring her plans of marriage to fruition. Kacchan will never be her wife, she might even be someone else’s, someone who was alive, and there was nothing Izuku could do but mald.

That she couldn’t ever confess her love, tell her that she’d been watching her and admiring her, or that Katsuki was the reason she was ever able to accept herself as she was.

Weird and obsessed as she was, still is, it was Katsuki who was the first to accept her in some way.

It wasn’t much better. Not like everyone else. But it meant the world to her.

That bit of heartbreak must’ve been what kept her from crossing through the serpent-infested waters, bringing her back as a ghost to pay her dues and ease her heart.

This is how she woke up to a cuff from her hand to Kacchan’s.

And she has no intentions of ever letting go.

Notes:

yes the serpent-infested waters is meant to refer to crossing the sanzu river to afterlife lol the great evils she has committed.......
