Chapter Text
“Lucifer Morningstar, will you marry me?”
“…”
Six simple words.
Six words that would change their lives forever.
Six words that Alastor desperately wanted to say out loud.
But that didn’t mean it would be easy….
It would take a few months before the perfect, or not so perfect moment would arrive, but both Alastor and Lucifer would say that the wait was absolutely worth it!

Hi everyone and welcome to my new fic called, “The Greatest Proposal Hell has Ever Seen!!” as the newest addition to my Greatest in Hell AU.
This is a direct prequel to my first fic, “The Greatest Wedding Hell has Ever Seen!!”. Which tells the story of Alastor and Lucifer’s wedding day. And since it’s a prequel you don’t need to have read that one to understand this story, but I guess there is one big spoiler….Lucifer said yes.
Their wedding day was certainly tumultuous, so let’s find out if getting there was any easier…
*————————————————————————*
Lucifer walked though the halls of the Hazbin hotel, walking aimlessly though the halls . He thought about what new ducks he could make for the hotel’s re-inauguration party.
He looked out of the window to gaze up at the red sky, he remembered how weirded out he felt by it during his first few centuries in Hell. He sometimes missed the clear blue skies of Heaven but nowadays he didn’t think he’d be able to handle all the brightness for long periods of time.
He took in a breath and continued walked through the halls. But he came to a haul when he saw Charlie standing in front of his room, holding up several apple printed suit cases.
Lucifer walked up to his daughter in a single heart beat, “Duckling, why are you carrying these out of my room?” he asked, almost breathless.
Charlie looked up coldly at him, no sparkle in her eyes as she spoke, “I’m kicking you out!”
Lucifer’s eyes widened with panic, “WHAT? Why….what did I….Charlie I don’t…please let me…”
She cut him off, “Asking you to move in here was a mistake, you only brought trouble to me and my hotel.”
“No Charlie, please let me fix this….I won’t get in your way ever. Please give me a second chance..” he reached out trying to grab her hand.
Charlie pulled away before he could touch her and straightened her back. “No dad, my decision is final.”
She stared at her father as tears began to form in his eyes, he was hyperventilating, and he felt his knees would give out at any moment.
“I knew you would reach like this..” Charlie spoke, her voice held no sympathy. “So I packed your things for you, leave before breakfast.” She then threw the bags she was holding to the ground in front of Lucifer’s feet.
Lucifer shook his head as tears began to run down his cheeks, “No Charlie, please let me fix this. We said we’d work together to amend things between us, please I don’t want to loose you again.”
Chalrie only started at him silently.
“You should leave before you make us throw you out!” A third voice joined in.
Lucifer flinched as Vaggie walked up to them, wearing angelic armor and holding her speak in one hand. She walked to stand next to her girlfriend, her eye just as cold as Charlie’s.
Lucifer hugged himself, “No this is wrong, Charlie you’re not like this.”
“Stop being difficult and just GET OUT!” Charlie yelled, her demonic features sprouting.
Lucifer turned on his heal and ran to the other side of the building. He closed his eyes as more tears began to flow, “Someone….anyone …please help me! Charlie isn’t like this. Please anyone!”
“You’re only making this more difficult” Charlie shouted as he ran.
But Lucifer didn’t look back, he kept running hoping to find any of the hotel guests, anyone who could help him snap Charlie back to her senses. He ran until he bumped into someone….it was Emily.
The little angel had her back him, Lucifer wiped his tears and stretched out his arm to put a hand on her should. “Emily, please…”
“DON’T TOUCH ME” she snapped. Emily quickly turned out to with an angered expression on her face. “Don’t touch me you….devil!”
Suddenly, purple flames illuminated the hall and Emily began to change. Her lilac hair took on a darker shade of purple, and her wings also became danger, she grew a spaced tail, and small horns protruded from her head.
Lucifer stood there in quiet shook, unable to move a muscle. He didn’t even blink.
“You did this to me!” she yelled at him once more, her voice was laced with bitter sadness.
“You turned me into a monster like you!” she accused.
Guilt and sadness began to overtake Lucifer, he lowered his gaze. “I never meant to….Im not….your not a monster.”
Emily shook her head and took a few steps back. “Don’t lie to me. I fell because of you, if it wasn’t for you I’d still be in Heaven where I belong. But now I’m fallen filth just like you!”
Lucifer’s lips trembled, he wanted to speak but his mouth couldn’t form a single word. He saw the hurt on Emily’s eyes, he couldn’t yell at her for it. He knew the pain, the shame, the self hatred, the self blaming, the disgust, all the feelings that came with falling. He knew it messed with one’s mental state, but hearing the little angel say such things to his face was too much.
“I hate you” Emily said as she turned around and walked away from him.
He felt like his feet were cemented to the ground. He couldn’t move, he couldn’t speak, he felt like he was about to break out into the worse emotional breakdown he’s ever had.
He wiped his face once again and tried to think logically, though his beating heart made it difficult.
He heard Charlie and Vaggie coming up behind him, “We didn’t want to do this, but I guess we’re using force” Vaggie declared.
Lucifer ran once again, he ran to the only person he knew he could trust right now, his loving boyfriend….Alastor.
Lucifer ran up to Alastor’s room and started banging loudly on the door, “Alastor open up!”
Knock knock
“Alastor open the door!”
Knock knock
“Alastor please, I need you!”
Knock knock
He leaned his whole body weight against the door, “…please” he begged.
After what like ages Alastor finally opened the door. Lucifer felt relief, finally someone who could help him make sense of all this madness. Or so he thought…
“I hope you had a good reason to interrupt me” Alastor scolded.
Lucifer didn’t care, he wrapped his arms around Alastor’s waist and held on tightly. “Alastor please…help me. Charlie wants to kick me out..”
Alastor was taken aback but he allowed the hug. But only for a minute. Once it was over, he carefully removed Lucifer’s arms from his person, and after doing so he rubbed his hands on his clothes. As if he were disgusted by touching Lucifer.
Which didn’t go unnoticed, “Alastor, did you hear me?”
Alastor’s eyes narrowed, “Yes I am aware of your predicament, after all I helped suggest it.”
Lucifer’s eyes went wide with betrayal, “You what?”
Lucifer felt the tears returning, “I thought you….I thought you loved me.”
Alastor’s smile grew wider, “Love….you? You are very gullible Lucifer. I thought we could try but you are just….not good enough for me.”
Lucifer’s heart shattered into a million pieces. This was it, his knees gave out and he fell to the floor.
Alastor just looked at him with amusement and kept going, “I truly expected more from the devil. I am ashamed for having spent so much of my precious time with you, so I do not wish to see you anymore.”
It was then that Charlie, Vaggie, and even Emily also came to Alastor’s door. And began to berate him.
“You aren’t good enough” Came Vaggie’s voice.
“You’re a bad father!” Charlie accused.
“I hate you” Emily repeated her earlier words.
“You will always be alone Lucifer!” Alastor stated, and began to laugh manically.
Lucifer continued to lay on the floor, curling himself into a ball and hugging his knees. Alastor wasn’t the first to say that to him, Lilith had said those same words the day she walked away from him.
“You will always be alone Lucifer!”
“Always be alone!”
“Always!”
*————————————————————————*
Alastor was sleeping peacefully on his bed, when he was woken up by the sound of sobs and screams.
He begrudgingly opened his eyes and moved his head to look at the man sleeping next to him.
Lucifer was curled up onto himself, his whole body was shivering lightly, and he was clutching onto the bedsheets like his life depended on it. His pale cheeks were covered in wet tears, and he mumbled in his sleep.
“No Stop.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Pleas don’t leave me.”
His voice was sloppy, but Alastor could make out the words perfectly.
He gently moved his hand towards Lucifer. He used his thumb to wipe away some of his tears.
Lucifer’s shivering stopped once the palm of Alastor’s hand cupped his cheek. The warmth and conform Alastor brought to him was on a level that the radio demon could never imagine.
Alastor continued wiping his tears, now with both hands. “I’m here Lucifer, I don’t know what your nightmares are about but I promise you I’m here” he whispered to his partner.
Suddenly Lucifer’s body flinched. He kicked off the bedsheets and jumped off the bed while screaming, “I’m sorry…it is my fault….I ruined everything!”
Lucifer woke up when he hit the ground, their bed wasn’t that tall so the little fall didn’t do anything to him.
Alsstor moved to the other end of the bed, “Are you alright my dear?”
Lucifer stood frozen for a moment, “It was a dream, it was all a dream..” he mumbled under his breath, ignoring Alastor. He passed a hand though his hair to try and calm himself.
The dream had felt so real, the emotions it caused him were incredibly real. His fear of loosing and being hated by those he loved, it had already happened so many times, he couldn’t endure that pain again.
He finally noticed that while it was all a dream, his tears were real. He brushed his fingers though his cheek, noticing the tear streaks.
“You were crying a lot…” Alastor tried speaking to him again. “Third time this week Lucifer…can you tell me what it was about?”
Lucifer had plenty of nightmares, everyone knew that. But sharing a meant that someone else would
know just how frequent these nightmares actually were.
Lucifer wanted to cling to Alastor but the words and looks that dream Alastor gave him were still fresh in his mind. He looked up to meet Alastor’s gaze, this time his eyes weren’t cold and bitter, they were loving and filled with worry.
Lucifer felt new tears form in his eyes, “I-I..can’t be here right now” he mumbled.
Alastor nodded in understanding, “Get up and I’ll help you calm down alright. I’ll give you some alone time too.”
“No, I need to leave..” Lucifer explained as he began getting up from the floor. “I need to clear my head.” And before Alastor could even respond, Lucifer opened a portal and jumped through it. Leaving Alastor dumbfounded as the portal faded away.
It was only a few seconds later that a worried Charlie barged into their room. “Dad, dad..” she called out.
She saw Alastor sitting on the edge of the bed, starring off into the room. And her father was no where in sight!
She ran to stand in front of Alastor and placed a hand on his shoulder. “Alastor where’s dad? I heard him yelling and something falling so I had to check. Did he have a nightmare?”
Alastor finally came out of his daze, “He had a nightmare. He woke up and panicked, then he left.”
Charlie raised an eyebrow, “Left? What do you mean left?”
“He opened a portal and left, don’t know where he went.”
Chalrie’s eyes went wide and she began to pace around the room, it was far too early to feel anxiety creeping in. “This is bad, this is bad. He’s had nightmares before, but usually some ducks and cookies will do. He’s never run off like this..”
Vaggie walked through the door while Charlie began to panic, “Babe calm down, your dad will be fine. He may be a bit on edge but he’s still the king. He can handle himself.”
Charlie gave her a smile, “Thanks Vaggie.” Then Razzle flies into the room and hovers towards Charlie offering her a hug, which she accepts.
Alastor placed a hand on his chin, “Charlie Im worried…Lucifer’s always had nightmares. But ever since the trial he’s had them more frequently, and they seem more intense than before. But the worse part is that he won’t talk to me about them..”
Charlie listen attentively before responding, “He’s not good at talking about feelings, especially after mom..”
A radio screech could be heard, Alastor never liked it when Lucifer’s previous relationship was mentioned. And he especially hated being compared to Lilith. But he still had to respect that she was still Charlie’s mother.
Alastor rose from the bed, “I understand that she didn’t take his emotions seriously my dear. But I cannot accept him treating our relationship the same way, and now he ran off on me.”
“I know Al, we need to get him to talk to us about his dreams. But right now I’m not sure how to help him.”
Vaggie let out a defeated sigh, “Alastor is right…” she was not happy to admit. It had been almost two years since Alastor had moved into the hotel, but him and Vaggie still didn’t get along well. “…since the trial your dad seems to be more….anxious, more on edge. I think going up to Heaven messed with him.”
“So what can we do?” Charlie’s voice was filled with concern.
Vaggie bit her lip, “I hate to say this but, I know we had a party and everything for your dad getting better at being social and finally healing from his depression and everything but, I think you should call your aunt Bel and get him some meds again.”
Charlie’s eyes grew wide, “You think my dad needs to take more meds again? I thought he was making progress, but I guess going to Heaven wasn’t good for him.” She placed her face in her hands.
Alastor put his arm around Charlie’s shoulder, “Smile my dear, everything will be alright. Let us get dressed and head out, we have a little angel to find…”
Charlie swallowed her tears, Alastor was right! Her dad was out there and he needed them, they may not know what he’s going through but they’ll be there for him no matter what.
So off the girls went back to their room to get dressed. While Alastor changed his suit and also grabbed a pair of clothes for Lucifer. In his panicked and sleepy state, Lucifer had left the room while still wearing his ducky pajamas.
Alastor chucked at the thought of the almighty king of Hell wandering through the streets while wearing his blue pajamas with yellow ducks printed on it.
Moments like truly made his mind wonder why he liked Lucifer so much, but his heart knew he was never letting go of the silly angel.
