Work Text:
round table
spinning dinner
crossing conversations
older faces
laughing matters
i desperately want to ask them
how do you deal with life,
how have you gotten this far
without breaking
without tearing up every second
watching your loved ones grow
and i fear the answer
the harmlessly intended ridicule
why do you think so far
why are you worrying so much
i wonder that too
over my teacup
watching them as i eat
i will miss them greatly
i love them much too dearly
i dread the wakes and the funerals
i dread the future
trying not to cry at the round table
typing this out as they speak
