Lena Luthor's Lessons On Love

Summary:

Supergirl is invincible. Bullets bounce off her. Fire can’t burn her. She can survive space, fly through explosions, and lift buildings like they’re made of paper. But.

Lena Luthor tilts her head just so, pouts just a little, and Kara folds like wet cardboard.

Unfortunately for Kara, the Superfriends catch on. And they weaponize it.

Chapter 1: Lena Luthor's Guide to Getting What You Want

Chapter Text

It starts small.

Lena, late at night in her L-Corp office, offhandedly sighs and says, “God, I would kill for a milkshake right now.”

And Kara, being the world’s most devoted (and mildly oblivious) disaster of a not-girlfriend, immediately takes off at superspeed and returns ninety seconds later with the perfect salted caramel milkshake.

Lena, accepting it with a smirk, tilts her head. “Kara.”

Kara shifts guiltily. “Uh.”

“You went all the way to Metropolis for this, didn’t you?”

Kara bites her lip. “…No?”

Lena hums, sipping her milkshake like the picture of innocence. “Mmhmm.”

Alex Danvers, standing nearby, stares in abject horror.

“Kara.”

Kara refuses to make eye contact.

“Kara, you do not fly across state lines for dessert.”

Kara’s response is an unintelligible mumble.

Lena, still sipping, winks at Alex.

Alex knows.

Oh no.

The Superfriends Figure It Out.

Once Alex notices, the rest of the team catches on fast.

Test #1:

Lena, reading a very boring financial report, casually mutters, “I’d love some chocolate-covered strawberries right now.”

Kara disappears mid-bite of a burger.

She returns within ten seconds with fresh, hand-picked strawberries from France, coated in L-Corp’s finest imported chocolate.

Lena, taking a bite, hums. “Perfect.”

Alex, watching this in disbelief, turns to Nia and Brainy. “Are you guys seeing this?”

Nia, already taking notes, whispers, “This is the best day of my life.”

Test #2:

During game night, Lena frowns at her losing Scrabble tiles and absentmindedly pouts.

“Ugh, I wish I had an ‘X’ tile.”

Kara vanishes at superspeed and returns with an X tile.

Not from their board.

From an entirely different board across the bar.

Brainy frowns. “Kara, did you just steal a tile from another Scrabble game?”

Kara looks guilty.

“I—uh—I’m gonna put it back later?”

Nia is cackling. Alex looks like she needs a drink.

Lena, meanwhile, just smirks.

“Oh, sweetie,” she purrs.

Kara, physically combusting, groans into her hands.

Kara’s Kryptonian Weakness Hits Critical Mass.

The final straw comes when they’re at the DEO, reviewing a mission report.

Lena, barely paying attention, absentmindedly sighs and mutters, “I could use a hug.”

Kara instantly stops talking.

Her hands go slack.

Her heart speeds up.

And before her brain even catches up, she’s already there, wrapping Lena in the warmest, coziest, most heartfelt hug imaginable.

Lena melts into it.

Kara, realizing she just outed herself, panics.

She stiffens. Releases Lena immediately. Looks at her own arms in horror, like they’ve betrayed her.

Lena blinks up at her, amused. “Something wrong, Supergirl?”

Kara makes panicked eye contact with Alex, who just shakes her head like, You’re done for.

Kara, weakly: “I, uh, I have to go.”

Lena: “…You’re already here.”

Kara, hysterical: “I HAVE TO GO.”

She flies straight through the ceiling.

Lena, sipping her coffee, watches her go.

“Fascinating.”

Kara Tries to Fight Back. It Fails.

“I’m not that easy!” Kara insists to Nia the next day.

Nia, eating popcorn, just laughs.

“Kara, she tilted her head, and you stole an X tile from a Scrabble board in another city.”

Kara grumbles. “Coincidence.”

“She sighed, and you flew to another continent.”

“I just—wanted a snack?”

“She pouted, and you phased through the DEO wall like a ghost and hugged her like you’ve been married for ten years.”

Kara crosses her arms, stubborn. “So?”

Nia pats her shoulder. “It’s okay, buddy. We all know.”

Kara groans.

The Moment of No Return.

Weeks later, Kara is determined.

She is not going to fold this time. She will resist. She is strong.

Then, Lena turns to her and says, softly,

“Kara, darling, can you—?”

And tilts her head in that way.

Kara is gone before Lena can even finish her sentence.

When she returns with exactly what Lena wanted, Alex just facepalms.

“Jesus Christ,” she mutters. “You’re whipped.”

Kara sighs. “I know.”

Lena, so very smug, takes Kara’s hand and kisses her knuckles.

“I know too, sweetheart.”

And Kara, utterly doomed, just melts.
