Chapter Text
He hears a sigh from the other end before she hangs up. A few minutes later he spots her silhouette, all lit up by a few street lights here and there.
It’s windy tonight, her hair moves along with it. “What’d you call me for?” She says, and he feels a smile threatening to form just from her usual act.
“Can’t I just see a friend?” He asks, leaning against the railing. Horikita shakes her head, looking at him with pointed eyes, “Not if it’s you.” She remarks honestly.
Ayanokouji can’t help but agree with her, their whole ‘friendship’ — if you can even call it that— has always been centered around strategizing and planning for exams, and besting the other classes.
He gives her a shrug, “I guess so.” He sees her take a deep breath and shake her head, “Spit it out.” Horikita tsked, annoyance seeping into her voice.
Letting a few moments pass before he speaks, he lets her gaze settle over him before speaking—what used to be a piercing, cold is replaced with something softer from all the times they’ve spent together. He doesn’t let himself think about what that shift in her eyes means.
“From here you can see the Cygnus.” he looks up to the sky, she follows suit and tilts her head up. She’s met with the beautiful night sky and she can't help but let out a small gasp—what usually is a view of clouds and fog is replaced by a dark canvas littered with bright stars.
It’s breathtaking. “Do you see it?” He asks, his voice faint.
“Yeah,” She responds, nodding her head absent-mindedly, too busy looking at the stars. “I’ve never seen the sky so clear before..” Horikita muses to herself under her breath but he hears him.
”I know, it’s why I called you out here.” Her head snaps back to him, “That’s it?” She asks, her brows furrowing in confusion, clearly disbelieving, “There’s no other reason why you called me?”
“I'm just a selfish man.” His response left her with more questions than answers.
It’s too bad he has to leave now.
