Chapter Text
Magical girls, heroes who protect humanity from the Demon King and his soldiers, though it seems it's a never ending battle.
“Today the Demon King's Titanic Captain's attack town square, they were thwarted by the Magical Girls. La-”
The TV turned off, in the now dark screen the image of a tired college student was shown.
Portgas D. Ace stared at herself through the TV, she raised a hand and rubbed her eyes. She was too tired, too damn exhausted. With heavy eyes she laid down on the couch, throwing her right arm over her eyes.
-Two Hours Ago-
The Demon King's sixth Titanic Captain, Catarina Devon, laughed as she threw Lady Sniper to the ground. Looking at the other three Magical Girls. “Come on now girls. You can do better than that, can't you?” Devon laughed again with a flurry of her arms. “If you're all as weak as Sniper Bitch, then my master is sure to win thi-Ah!”
To everyone's shock, Devon's cape caught on fire. Not Lady Phoenix’s healing blue fire, no, her cape erupted in angry red fire. A laugh no one heard before came from just behind Devon.
“Hahahaha my first fight as a Magical Girl and it's you, that's bullshit.”
Long black and red hair in pigtails, a cropped red sleeveless shirt, a v-cut frilled skirt that was a mix of reds and pinks, red heeled ankle wedge boots and a pair of frilled arm bands. A new Magical Girl?!
The fire that overtook Devon's cape finally disappeared, leaving the woman fuming. “Who the hell are you!” Her hands turned to claws and her eyes narrowed in pure anger. The new Magical Girl smiled, raised her hand just in front of her eyes, moving her index and middle finger into a peace sign. She popped her hip to the right.
“I am living fire itself, the burning of love and anger, Lady Mera!” The introductory sentence was never not embarrassing, the barely hidden grimace on Lady Mera’s face was enough to make the other girls also grimace. “And I'm going to kick your fucking ass.”
Well, that wasn't something a Magical Girl should say. But she did keep her word.
Lady Mera jumped on Devon who helped in surprise, wrapping her legs around Devon's waist and started punching the Demon. She didn't let up on her punches, she didn't give Devon a chance to even fight back. Hell, she barely even used her powers!
Catarina Devon knew how to pick her battles. She knew when to make a grand exit, and that's what she did. The demon woman struggled to grab the violent Magical Girl who just would not stop punching her but she was able to wrap her fingers through one of the black pig tails and pulled. Lady Mera let out a pained yelp as she was pulled off of the demon.
Lady Mera fell on her back, her hand going up to her head to soothe the pain, “Bitch!” The vulgar magical girl growled out at the demon who flinched back slightly.
“W-Well, when, as much as I would love to stay and fight, but alas I must go-HEY!” Catarina dodged a fireball that was thrown at her, Lady Mera smiled at her with her fist in front of her body, smoke swirling around it.
“Stay and fight you coward!”
“You're a demon!!” Catarina hissed as she disappeared into a swirly void of shadows.
Lady Phoenix watched the new magical girl hiss and yell at the now empty space, “U-Um…” The blonde magical girl jumped when the glare of the new one was sent her way.
“ What ”
“....Thank you for the help, my name is-”
“Don't care. I gotta go, have fun cleaning up!” Lady Mera saluted the older magical girl, she turned on her heels and jumped, leaving the four others in the dust.
“The fuck was that?!” Lady Sword shouter, she looked at her sister's as if they had the answer. Her high and long brunette ponytail bouncing around as she did.
“That was our new teammate.” Lady Diamond crossed her arms as she looked to where Lady Mera disappeared too. “I don't think we're going to get along.”
Lady Sniper buffed in agreement as she adjusted her black hair.
The only blonde magical girl didn't take her eyes off of where their new teammate was once at, “...I think she'll fit in fine.”
-Present-
Despite the magical transformation Ace found her head still hurt from when the demon yanked her by her hair, she's pretty sure that she's missing some hair. The college student and new magical girl turned on her side so she was facing the back rest of the couch.
She had a few hours until her grandmother and little brother got back and she was planning on using that time for some most needed rest.
“Portgas D. Ace! Come help us with the fucking groceries!”
Ace’s silver and gray eyes slowly blinked open at the sharp and angry voice of her grandmother.
“Wake up you lazy brat!”
The freckled twenty year old pushed herself off the couch as she groaned. At least she was able to take a little nap. Ace looked at her grandmother who had her arms crossed over chest, “Did you have a nice nap lazy bones?”
“Actually yes. Very nice and refreshing. Maybe you should take a nap from now on.” Ace smiled brightly at her grandmother who rolled her eyes dramatically.
“Yeah yeah. Go help your brother unless you want him to eat all the food before we bring them in.”
“Did you get my yogurt?”
“Obviously. I also got the chia seeds.” Garp didn't have to say another word as Ace was off the couch with an excited cheer and raced out of the front door. Garp laughed at her granddaughter's childlike excitement.
“Don't eat my fucking yogurt!”
“But Ace!”
Garp laughed loudly, as she walked to the kitchen. Her grandchildren were so cute.
-Meanwhile in the Demon Realm-
“You… ran away.”
Catarina Devon felt her body shiver at the sound of her Kings ire, she was kneeling in front of the Demon King's throne. “I-I did, your majesty.”
“And may I ask why you ran away like a COWARD !” The Demon King slammed his hand against the armrest of his throne causing everyone in the room to stiff in fear.
“...There was another magical girl, sir. She calls herself Lady Mera.”
“I see, so you were overwhelmed.”
“...You could...say that.”
“...Devon, how many magical girls were fighting you before you ran away.”
“Just Lady Mera, my lord. I'm sorry I failed you but her strength…I fear it could rival even Lady Atlas.”
The name of the old magical girl made a chill go through all the demons present, even the Demon King himself.
Lady Atlas was able to go toe-to-toe with the old Demon King and his right hand, without even using her own magic abilities.
“I see.” The Demon King stood from his throne and walked down the steps leading to his throne, “If there's a new magical girl who can rival even Lady Atlas then we should tread with caution from now on.”
-Two Weeks Later-
“You know Lady Mera, we're a team so I think we should, you know, talk?” Lady Sword smiled at the fire magical girl who turned to look at the sword hero, her left arm raised in a punching motion. A demon laying limp in her other hand, his lips swollen and both his eyes black.
“...Why?” Lady Mera asked as she punched the nameless demon.
“Um, because we're a team? So we gotta get to know each other.” Lady Sword smiled as she twirled around using her ribbon sword to cut through the demon's mirages.
“Yeah! We don't know anything about you!” Lady Diamond smiled at the smaller magical girl before she spun around turning her body into diamonds, easily stopping a hit from one of the nameless demon's. “Hell we don't even know why you don't use your powers.”
“Because I don't want you to know about me? I know enough to keep my life and the hero's life separate.” Lady Mera looked back at the demon who was now passed out before she dropped him. “I'm just here to help you fight the demon's, not to get to know you all. Sorry to disappoint.”
Lady Mera looked around at the other magical girls who were standing above their fallen enemies. ”Well, nice fighting with you but I'm heading out now. Peace out girls.” The fire magical girl turned on her heel and jumped up onto the roof of a building and left the area.
“Well, that was a mistake.” Sniper looked at her sisters, “I don't like her.”
“You don't like anyone Izou.”
“ Names , Sword.”
“Oops. Sorry.”
Lady Phoenix looked at the destruction the demon's caused with a grimace. “I'm going to fix this, then we can leave.” The blonde walked towards the middle of the battle field. Holding out a fingerless gloved hand her blue winged staff appears in her hand with a flourish of sparks. Her high ponytail blowing side to side with the power of the summoning, as did the sapphire ribbons in her hair.
“By the fires of the healing flame, heal what has been hurt by the darkness of our enemies.” Lady Phoenix’s blue fire circled around her heels before shooting out, covering everything in the battlefield, fixing the buildings that were destroyed from the fight as well as healing the ground from the craters and gashes.
When everything was healed and fixed Diamond grabbed a hold of Phoenix as she stumbled, “I gotcha.”
“Thanks.” Phoenix smiled at Diamond as she tried to get her bearings. “Let's go home guys.” Phoenix smiled at her sister, though it was pained. The four magical girls jumped away from the once destroyed battlefield and headed home.
Away from the battlefield at the top of a tower stood a tall man looking at a shadow ball in his hands that showed the magical girls, a smile on his face. “Zehahahaha it would be so easy to take the little group apart. Won't it, my Titanic Captains?” The Demon King looked at his highest ranking subordinates, the ten Titanic Captains were all kneeling in front of him.
“Yes, your majesty.” His secondhand man, Jesus Burgess, laughed. The others called out similar words of affirmation. The Demon King’s eyes moved to Catarina.
“Catarina.”
“Sir.”
“I have a plan to get rid of the girls once and for all. And I'm going to need your help.” Devon looked up at him with a smile.
“I will do whatever you want me to do, Sir.”
“Good, good. Everyone besides Devon, Shiryu, Augur, and Kuzan, leave.” The tone of his voice was promising pain on those who didn't listen. Everyone besides the ones stated and Burgess disappeared into the shadows.
Marshall D. Teach looked at the remaining people on the roof. “Here's my plan-”
-Ace-
Sneaking in and out of the house was always nerve wracking. The freckled college student was terrified she was going to get caught by her grandmother, and she really didn't feel like getting in trouble.
Slowly pushing the window in her room up Ace crawled into her bedroom, thanking her Lady self for picking the downstairs bedroom. Once her feet were on the carpeted floor she slowly shut the window trying not to make a sound.
Her heterochromatic silver and gray eyes moved around the room, making sure nothing was out of place. Her stuffed animals were in her rolling chair and bed, her homework laid on the desk completed, her laptop was opened with some YouTube video.
Strange . Ace could have sworn she closed her laptop when she left. Walking to her desk she reached a hand out and closed her heavily stickered laptop.
Her bedroom door slammed open with a loud bang against the wall. Portgas D. Ace came face to face with a very angry Garp.
“And where the hell have you been?”
Fuck, play dumb
“Uh, a-a party?”
She'll never believe that.
“...A party? Your introverted ass went to…a party? I may be dumb, but I ain't that fucking dumb. Where were you.” Garp crossed her arms while she stared at the freckled girl.
“...I was at the library. I'm sorry for lying to you but I didn't think you'd be happy if I told you the truth.” Ace prayed to everything that Garp believed her.
“...” The silence wasn't promising, “I see, their library. Well, at least I raised a good grandkid who actually does school work unlike a certain someone.” Garps black eyes moved to look up at the ceiling of Ace's room. “Get some sleep Ace.”
The older woman ruffled Ace's hair with a smile, her smile grew bigger when Ace tried to push her grandmother's hand away.
“Okay, okay. Leave my room damn you.”
“I'm going, I'm going. Love you Ace.” Garp smiled at her oldest grandchild from beside the door, Ace smiled back at her.
“Love you too, grandma.” Garp shut the door behind her, leaving Ace in the dark of her own room.
The magical girl walked to her bed and fell face first onto the comfy queen mattress, without bothering to get under the covers Ace grabbed her old and very much adored purple and green frilled lizard plushie and held it to her chest. She curled into a ball and let sleep quickly over take her.
-Margo-
“I told you, I'm fine.” Margo tried to push herself up and away from the medical bed but her dearest sister, Whitey Bay, pushed her back down.
“And I told you, stay the fuck down or I'll tell Oyaji that you almost fainted after the battle.”
“I didn't almost faint! I stumbled. There is a difference.”
“Not to us.” Jozu spoke from one of the plastic chairs they keep in the designated infirmary, like the damned traitor she is. “You've never almost faint before, or stumbled! Something is very wrong with you Margo.” Jozu stared at her sister with worry, she looked downright scared. Jozu was never scared.
“Jozu's right, something is wrong. Please, let me look you over.” Despite Margo wanting to tell them no, she really didn't have a choice.
“Fine.”
She just wanted to go to her own room and Lady in her own bed, but it seems her sister's have another idea. Fuck her life.
-Ace, the next day-
“Luffy didn't you fucking dare touch the chia seeds!” Ace looked over her shoulder to glare at her younger brother who was trying to grab the bowl of the soaked chia seeds, in front of her was a cutting board with some chopped up strawberries.
“But you like them, I wanna give it a try…”
“And you can, once I get the fruit cut and the coconut shreds.” Ace glasses pointedly at her brother, watching as he backed away from the bowl with a huff.
“Fine.”
“Good, now make yourself useful and grab three bowls please.” The freckled college student smiled brightly at her brother before turning back to the cutting board. Behind her she heard Luffy opening the cupboards and the clinking of the porcelain bowls. “Thank you Lu, now go make sure the table is clean kay?”
“Why do I gotta do it?”
“Because I'm making breakfast, now go.”
She heard Luffy mumbling under his breath as he walked out of the kitchen and to the dining room where Garp was sitting watching the morning News.
When she finished cutting the fruit she grabbed the empty bowls and poured the scoops of the chia seeds into each, before putting the cut up fruits and the shredded coconut. Without missing a great she grabbed the strawberry puree and poured a little in each bowl.
With the chia pudding done, Ace grabbed a serving plate and placed the bowls on the plate before walking out of the kitchen.
“Who's ready for breakfast?” Ace smiled, placing the plate on the table and dishes out the bowls. Luffy cheered in excitement while Garp closed her book, hidden excitement on her face. The family of three sat at the table eating their breakfast in peaceful silence.
Ace has a feeling today was going to be a wonderful day.
-Margo-
The blonde haired woman walked down the street, a travel mug of hot coffee in her hands. Her blonde hair is in the weird hairstyle that her family lovingly calls a ‘pineapple’ style. A crochet hat made lovingly by Kiku was the only thing keeping her ears warm.
The woman stopped at a crosswalk and waited for the light to change, taking a ship off her coffee and let her mind wander to everything that's happened.
First, they get a new member of their magical girl team.
Second, she almost passed out doing a simple healing technique after the battle.
And third…her powers are disappearing. She didn't know why her powers were disappearing, it didn't make sense. They didn't beat the Demon King yet, so her powers shouldn't be going away.
The loud beeping of the crosswalk snapped Margo out of her thoughts, she quickly walked across the street.
She's been a magical girl since she started high school, what the hell was she supposed to do when her powers go away?
Taking the last drink of her coffee, Margo walked to a trash can and threw away the empty cup.
A loud beeping noise caught her off guard, raising her hand as she looked at her magic ring. A black dot blinked rapidly. Clicking her tongue the blonde started running, keeping her eyes on the black dot trying to see where it was. The loud screaming of civilians made her realize that she was on the right track.
Just ahead of her was a man she's never seen before laughing as he was flying in the sky, “Hahahaha! Come on little magical girls! You wanted to fight the Demon King, well here I am!”
The Demon King raised his hand with another laugh, Margo watched in horror as shadows danced around the man's hand before attacking the people that were fleeing as well as buildings.
“Fuck me.”
-Ace-
A buzz caused Ace to stiff up, her eyes going directly to the magic bracelet. A black dot on the crystal on top of the beads was blinking rapidly. A demon was attacking.
Her eyes moved to her grandmother and little brother who were talking to each other on the couch with the TV playing show as background noise.
“Hey Grandma, I gotta go! I forgot my textbook at the library!” Ace yelled out before rushing out of the house, not even waiting for her guardian's response.
She ran as fast as she could, following the blinking dot. When she was close enough to hear the yelling of the villain of the week and her fellow magical girls Ace quickly ducked into an alleyway. Looking at her bracelet she raised it to her face and placed a quick kiss on the crystal.
“My crystal, grant me the power to protect the innocent.”
Her eyes turned into fire red from their original silver and gray, her hair grew longer from the short shaggy hair into the almost floor length twin tails. Her baggy pants shortened to the v-cut frilled skirt, while her shirt turned to the sleeveless top with the frilled arm bands, the tennis shoes she always wore transformed into the ankle wedge boots.
Once her transformation was done she jumped onto the building's roof. From her perch she could see the other magical girls struggling against the demon who was just laughing as he launched the shadows.
“Pathetic humans! You can't even land a hit on me!” He raised a hand, shadows swirling around his open palm into a giant ball.
Ace clenched her fists and jumped at the unknown demon. She was on him in a flash as he was manolouging, her fist was raised high and she brought it down with a satisfying whack .
The demon fell on his face and skidded face first on the ground. The other magical girls looked on in horror.
Ace walked briskly to the fallen demon, cracking her knuckles as she walked.
“W-Who fucking dares!” The demon turned to face Ace, his black eyes widening as he watched the human crack her knuckles.
“Oh I dare. Want some more of me?” She decided to ignore the deep red flush on the demon's face, he stuttered out a response before growling.
“You win this time human.” Shadows wrapped around him, pulling him to the ground.
“Hey! Don't run away now!” Ace tried to hear the demon, but he was gone. “You bitch!”
-Teach-
The shadows teleported Teach to his throne. Once he was seated in his comfortable chair he covered his eyes and let the image of the magical girl burn into his mind. That has to be Lady Mera…and she was gorgeous.
“Sire? Back already?” The voice of the clean demon Laffite smiled as he leaned over the armrest to be in the Demon King's face, “How was the-Ah!”
Teach grabbed the demon's shirt collar and pulled him down, “Laffite. Lady Mera. I want you to find her identity and give it to me.” The angry look in his eyes burned into the wide eyes of his subordinate.
“O-Of course!”
Teach pushed Laffite away from him as he sunk into the throne and covered his eyes. That human…why was she so pretty…
