As the rain pours down into the Earth, three gems wait patiently as time passes. Their worries become fear as their youngest member is no where to be found in the house.
“Why would he just run and leave without telling us where he went” Pearl said as she looks at her phone with hope that the boy had answered her call or text messages.
He didn’t
“I’m just so worried for him, he doesn’t tell us anything, hides things from us, and it’s like he drifting away and we can’t stop him.”
The three gems start to think how Steven changed ever since Era 3 started, how he became more distant, quick to anger, more paranoid.
“He couldn’t have gone far right?” Amethyst said hoping for reinsurance from Pearl and Garnet. But their faces tell another story, fear and nervousness.
“He will come back”
“Right?”

As they wait for Connie and Greg to arrive the gems think about what has happened today so far. With Steven glowing pink and destroying things left and right he’s become a mess.
“Why can’t he just talk-“ Pearl is interrupted by the sound of the door opening revealing a worried Greg and Connie.
“We’re here, where is he?” Connie asks. “He’s been all over the place trying to “help” but is just causing mess after mess” Amethyst tells her and Greg. For a few minutes they sit in silence, thinking about Steven. How much he has changed throughout these past months. They wonder what did he do for those three days missing, what was he even doing with Jasper? What had he done with her in the first place?
“I think we failed him” Garnet says which has everybody with a shocked look. “Instead of being the proper guardians for Steven we let him deal with our problems.” It hurt to hear the truth come out of Garnet but she was right, they did fail him.
Connie looks at the gems and Greg with a look of disappointment, especially at Greg. “I understand the gems for not understanding how humans should be raised but Mr. Universe, you have no excuse. Steven shouldn’t have grown up with too much freedom and should’ve been able to go to school like any other kid.” Connie said, knowing that Steven is not in the right state of mind.
She wondered if they ever knew what happened with White Diamond. Did Steven even tell the gems that his gem was separated from him. Most likely not, probably not to make them worried and coddle him.
Now all they do is wait until Steven is back from his escapade of being helpful around Beach City.
