So this is the power stuff I guess?
So powers, while kinda common are not tied tp genetics, as fun as that idea is. No powers are tied to your soul/calling(?)
So say that you've always been really fascinated with light, or you've just always liked the light. Then your power would have a high chance to be tied to light. For example a future character will have the power to create what is essentially
a flash bang, however it has to be with a 15-20 ft range.
So your power is tied to your soul. And there are people who don't have powers/haven't awaken them.
But now the structure of them! So there are a few categories for powers. There are passive ability (examples: resistance, healing, observation, ect), abilities you have to activate (super strength, teleportation, flight, mind control, ect), then there are powers that activate on there own (this like healing, or speed, and one memorable person with time manipulation) so yeah
So to categorize them you have: D, S, M, P, and Finally N.
Any power that is in the N category is considered to be universal level threats. However there has only ever been four documented cases. And every who's had any of them are long since dead.
For the D category it's considered to be dangerous, and should be monitored and are rare to get and most high level heros/villas have them. Only the heros are legally documented
In the S category those are the powers you'll see most mid level heros and middle ranked villas have. It's more common the the D powers.
M powers are the powers that low ranked villans/heros have, and Few civilians have.
P category are the most common powers you'll see. Most civilians have P level powers.
Multiple can have the sane power, tho theor control/ability level may very depending on how often they use their power, and how connected they are with their power/soul.
Vigilantes tend to have from D and below leveled powers.

.good question... you shouldn't be able to. But it's not impossible, just highly improbable. If your soul decides you have a new calling, or you have a natural affinity for something else? Then yes but the change would be gradual.
