James lazed on the sofa, throwing his wand aside as Lily passes him baby Harry. He tickles his son on the stomach, captivated by his giggles and gurgling and thinks about how lucky he is to be a part of something so wonderful. He picks up his wand, Lily snuggling beside him as he makes multicoloured sparks fly from the tip, stars reflecting in their eyes.
Lily picks her son up, eyes plated with golden stars, kisses him on the forehead. They revel in the joy of being a part of something so special, watching stupid, shitty films together, baking and cooking and playing, watching their son grow up into someone great. It could've lasted forever, frozen in that moment for all time, where everything was perfect.
Their cat jumps up onto their laps and places a paw on baby Harry's stomach. He smiles, stroking one tiny starfish hand through its fur.
They rock him to sleep, stars trapped in their eyes, burning hot.
