Chapter Text
The artificial sun shown down on Anakt garden. Young and old children alike ran around, chasing each other and hiding and rolling to the bottom of the hill. All except the two, laying up at the top and watching the sky.
Hyuna watched the clouds morph and connect to each other, content with the sounds of her brother playing with the other kids. She glanced over at Luka, who appeared to be near-catatonic like he tended to be most times he was allowed to relax.
Luka's eyes were blank as he stared past the clouds and the sky. His mouth hung open from when his friend had previously tried to snap him out of whatever he was doing and had poked his face.
Hyuna watched as a small line of drool slipped out and he shuddered a bit. She took her warm hands in his freezing ones and held them gently. It was but a few moments more until he blinked his eyes a few times and closed his mouth.
"Sorry, Hyuna," He muttered half-heartedly.
She reached out and wiped his chin, "For what?"
"For being so boring."
A heavy silence hung between the two children as Luka forced himself to sit up and Hyuna joined him with considerably less struggle.
She finally replied, "You're not boring. You're just different. I don't care, though."
Luka looked like he wanted to say something but closed his mouth in favor of watching the other children play with a slight grimace on his face.
"Does your head hurt?"
"Yeah."
Hyuna turned to him, wondering if she should apologize or something before he starts up again.
"What do we do if we have to compete one day?"
She plays with the grass, gently pulling at it, "Then we do our best."
Luka grimaces, "But I don't want you to be hurt."
"All we can do is play fair."
He grabs a handful of grass and dirt in frustration, "Nothing about it is fair."
Hyuna wants to argue but he's right, "I know. Maybe we won't have to compete. How about we cross that bridge when we come to it?"
When she turns to check on Luka, he's chewing on something. No, he's chewing on some of the grass and dirt he's pulled out. She hurriedly grabs his hand and wipes it free of the rest of the grass and dirt.
"Dont eat that! You'll get sick."
Luka only stares back at her with wide eyes as he continues to chew.
She sighs, "Why would you put that in your mouth?"
All she gets in response is a small shrug as he swallows.
"Sorry," He says again.
Hyuna looks at his pale eyes and sighs once more, "Don't apologize."
