Hogsmeade Break-In

Summary:

Dennis Creevey somehow made it into Hogsmeade as a second year. How you ask? With a little help from his brother and his brother's best friend.

Work Text:

“I have to go to this meeting Colin!”

Colin stared at his younger brother, “Dennis again, how are you going to get down there? You can’t go to Hogsmeade. You’re a second year and Filch would love to put you in detention for trying.”

Dennis nodded bouncing on the heels of his feet, “I know Colin, but we’re fighting back! And Harry is going to lead us! You can’t ask me to sit this out!’

“He has a point,” Dennis turned to look at where Ginny Weasley was curled up in a chair.

“You wouldn’t have taken no for an answer if it was you, Colin.”

Colin threw up his hands, “Then how do you suggest we do it?”

Ginny stood up and started walking around them slowly, “How good are you at human Transfiguration?”

A few days later Dennis was bouncing excitedly in the line to be checked off for Hogsmeade. Ginny slipped into the line behind him, “Merlin, Dennis, calm down. You look so suspicious I wouldn’t be surprised if they pulled you out of line right now.”

Dennis forced himself to stop moving and calm his features. Ginny snorted, “Now you look like you’re going to a funeral, just look calm.”

Dennis turned and looked right at Ginny who seemed completely relaxed, “How are you so calm?”

Ginny raised an eyebrow, “I have six older brothers, and two of them are Fred and George. I’ve picked up a few tricks here and there.”

Dennis smiled, “I bet those two would have had a great plan for this if we asked them.”

Ginny laughed and shook her head, “No, they like things with colorful explosions and loud bangs. They don’t do well with subtlety.”

Dennis grinned, “I could see that being true.”

Ginny smiled and opened her mouth, but Filch’s angry voice cut across, “Are you two going to move, or do you expect me to stand here all day while you hold up the line?”

Dennis jumped and started bouncing again. Ginny kicked him in the shin and when he glanced at her she was staring straight ahead apparently unperturbed.  He turned and handed his paper to Flich and almost started bouncing before he managed to control himself. Filch looked at the paper, then up at Dennis and then back at the paper, and then up at Dennis.

“Didn’t you already go through?”

Ginny rolled her eyes, “Colin how many times do I have to tell you. You can just wait outside for me. You don’t have to come back through if you forgot to meet in the hall.”

Dennis nodded and started bouncing, “Ok Ginny.”

She glared pointedly at his feet. He stopped bouncing. Filch glared at the two of them like he knew they were up to something, but couldn’t quite figure out what. Finally he handed Dennis the paper back, “Go on through, but don’t be up to any funny business.”

Dennis waited til he was out of sight of Filch and let out a huge sigh of relief. Ginny joined him a few seconds later.

He looked at her wide eyed, “That was close.”

Ginny laughed, “Filch acts like that with everyone, he wasn’t onto you for a second.” Dennis deflated. “Good job though,” she added as an afterthought.

She pulled out her wand, “Here let me change you back real quick.”

A couple of seconds later Dennis’ hair had gone back to its normal color, and all his freckles were back. Ginny held out her hand and said “I’ll take that now.”

Dennis handed her back the form, the words, “Colin Creevey has permission to visit Hogsmeade,” written clearly across the front.

They smiled at each other and then Colin popped up in front of them, “Well come on, we’ve got places to be, people to see, revolutions to aid.”

Ginny rolled her eyes fondly as she handed Colin back his form, “It’s not an actual revolution. It’s a study group.”

Colin grinned, “But it’s an illegal study group, and Harry’s leading it which means something interesting is bound to happen.”

Ginny nodded, “Isn’t that the truth. Now I have to go. I'm meeting Micheal for some food. See you two at the Hog’s Head.”

Ginny turned and quickly headed down the path and then Colin threw an arm over Dennis’ shoulder. “Come on. You’re going to love Hogsmeade.”
