Work Text:
“Tech!”
“Hey Tech, where are you?”
“Tech, I need some help!”
“Tech, can you…??? Where did you go?”
“Teeech!!! My pad is on the fritz again!”
“TECH!!!”
Tech was on the run, hiding from the others.
They were all after him. Echo, Hunter, Wrecker even Omega.
Each and everyone needing something from the genius. Some help, some advice, whatever it was, they were all after him once again. Or so it seemed on this, rather restless day. Tech’s cup certainly spilling over with all the demands and hollers he was getting today. Tech not able to concentrate on anything really, let alone do his own work, his tinkering as he liked to do.
And so, Tech had ran to the only person he could trust in having his back.Well, sort of. As this was Tech’s family, not some enemies being after him. But, the one the others did not dare to rattle, to demand too much of, not like they felt they could Tech, was Crosshair.
“Hey, whatcha doin, Tech?”
Crosshair felt more than saw Tech suddenly appearing right behind him.
Crosshair having been doing some weapons service in the rec-room of their home. It was simply out of habit as Crosshair did not really need them blasters so much any more. But he liked to keep them all ship shape just the same. And it was a form of mediation for him as well to do this simple task.
“I… I need somewhere to hide.”
Tech really did not need too much of an explanation for Crosshair. The two having been pretty much on the same wavelength since decanted despite them being so dissimilar.
Crosshair turned to look at Tech, seeing the rather panicked expression donning the genius’ face. The signs readable there. That Tech was going to burst if he did not get to calm down for a spell at least.
Crosshair did not ask any questions, nor did he demand any answers.
He simply patted the spot next to him on the floor, where he was seated on the bulk of pillows setup there earlier.
Tech took the place without question. Simply squatting there, right behind Crosshair’s back, even if he was clearly visible to anyone else entering the room.
Just then, Hunter and Echo stepped into the space. Before either of them could even ask, Crosshair simply, without even looking up told them flat on.
“Tech’s not here.”
“Oh, is that so?” Hunter tried to argue.
Crosshair finally looking up and right at Hunter and Echo, the clear warning written there for them to see.
“Okay… then we’ll check elsewhere.”
Echo humoured them both while simply nudging Hunter by his arm and nodding towards the door. Hunter following Echo out, neither of them even trying to contradict the fact they had seen Tech sitting right behind Crosshair.
“Thanks.”
“Any time, Tech. Any time.”
After all, they had each other’s back. Ever since the very beginning, as if some kind of an agreement having been made.
