Work Text:
So I heard that in Ul'dah there was a man who was wielding two swords. He said that he was a Viper, a kind of swordsman native to Tural. Tural, that "New World" that Emet-Selch spoke of. I know I have to go there someday, but not yet. I'm currently delivering the finale to that man named Golbez since he corrupted the dragon Azdaja into the voidsent Zeromus. Given my time off-world, I know that there are many named Golbez and Zeromus, but that is irrelevant. We were sent to Camp Drybone to kill a beast from the Arena and his swift sword strikes with both of his blades drove me to ask him about the art. I have heard of the Viper that dual wields swords, but being trained by a specialist of Eitheirys that dual wields sounded fun. He said that when we get back to Ul'dah and tell the Weaver of the job completion, I would get weapons and armor just like his and a job crystal to match. Familiar with the other job crystals I have collected, I nodded. A bit of excitement in my eyes, he ran with blazing speed to Ul'dah, caring not for using Aetheryte. I didn't feel like using up energy, just some gil, so I did use Aetheryte. We met once more and he showed proof of his accomplishment, and in return he got his clothes that he commissioned. I got his old armor and weapons as promised after he told his story to me. A dread beast of his homeland killed his last apprentice because they were being too reckless, and now he had to find a new one. He was curious of the continent of Eorzea, so he came to Ul'dah. With the explanation over with, we went out to the outskirts of Thanalan nearby the city. There, there were many beasts that I tested my skills against, finding a rhythm in attacks against them. Hordes of foes before a grand big one came forth and I still continued to relentlessly slash and dodge against the attacks. With the training done, he told me to continue to train by myself until I think I am ready for more prey. I nod, thinking about the usage of the word prey like those who hunted Rathalos and particularly how Zenos Viator Galvus used it. I then ran off, working on my next work to train myself in the different arts I have started.
