Nightcat wakes up out in the open, soft grass below him. He stretched his paws out, looking around in his blurry vision.
He sat up and his tail began to wag against the grass. He felt his tail frills touch the grass, the soft feeling made Nightcat happy.
Nightcat laid on his back and closed his eyes again. He smiled, enjoying the feeling of the outside.
Hunter walks out amongst some tall grass. He pushed the blades aside, looking out against the horizon. He sees a black creature in the distance, wondering what it was.
He felt his paws grazing against the grass below him, feeling the nice grass edges against his paw pads. He slowly starts to approach it, sniffing the air and being cautious. He got up to the black slugcat, looking at its face.
Nightcat opened his eyes, jolting a bit in surprise when he saw Hunter's big eyes staring back at him.
Nightcat's eyes widen as he's startled. He slowly sits up, looking at the bigger and tougher creature in front of him.
His ears fell back against his head, and his tail stopped wagging.
Nightcat didn't know if that was a friendly or dangerous creature in front of him, but he decided to be friendly and submissive. He slowly moved to Hunter on all fours, taking a smell of him.. all while keeping his eyes fixed on The Hunter.
Hunter stood up tall, his tail flicking as he let the black slugcat sniff him.
Nightcat smiled, when he realized this creature was another slugcat. He grinned as his tail wagged.
Hunter's ear angled back, unamused at Nightcat's cheery tone.
"I haven't seen you before, what are you doing here?" Hunter asked, tilting his head as he held tightly onto his spear.
Nightcat stopped sniffing him and looked up, giving a nervous smile once he heard his deep and demanding voice.
Nightcat felt intimidated by his large height and fierce glare. He looked at the spear in his paws, and his heart started to beat fast.
Nightcat was on all fours in front of Hunter, being the much shorter and smaller one. He didn’t want to try to intimidate the slugcat.
The black slugcat tried to remain friendly and cheerful, but his nervousness began to override that.
"I-I'm just exploring.." He said in a shaky and nervous tone.
Hunter sighed, as he stood back up.
"You shouldn't be out too long by yourself you know?" Hunter said.
He walked over to Nightcat, grabbing his hand and began to walk off somewhere. The grip started to drag Nightcat behind him.
"Come on, it's getting late," Hunter said, annoyed that he was practically dragging Nightcat.
Nightcat, caught unawares, stumbled forward as Hunter grabbed his hand. He let out a surprised squeak as he was dragged along by the much stronger and taller slugcat.
He was trying to keep pace with Hunter's long strides, but it was difficult for him to do. Nightcat's heart beat fast as he was being led away, not knowing where he was going..
"W-Where are we going?" He stuttered as they walked in the grass.
"We are going back to my shelter.. Dangerous creatures come out at night, and I don't think you know how to deal with them" Hunter said.
He let go of Nightcat's paw and began to jump up the ledge of a few rocks. His tail flowed behind him, sitting and waiting at the top of the cliff.
Nightcat let out a sigh as Hunter let go of his paw. He sat down on his hind legs, watching the stronger slugcat climb up the large rocks. He looked up at him, seeing his tail waving in the air.
Nightcat tilted his head, before he suddenly understood what to do.
He jumped up and dug his claws into the edge of the rocks, pulling himself up. His little legs kicked against the rocks as he finally got himself up.
He was panting heavily, lying on his back before looking at Hunter again.
"You're already so tired?" Hunter said, chuckling.
He continued to walk, walking a little slow so that Nightcat wasn't too left behind. Nightcat stood up again and slowly followed behind Hunter. He huffed and panted, trying to calm himself down as he tried his best to keep up with him.
“Y-You’re so fast..” he protested hopelessly.
He continued to follow the bigger and stronger slugcat, his pace was slowed slightly due to his panting and short legs.
Hunter's ear flicked as he felt a small drop of rain on his ear. He gulped, grabbing Nightcat and putting him on his back. He began to run on all fours, trying to get back to his shelter faster.
Nightcat was suddenly grabbed and put on Hunter’s back, his eyes widened in surprise. He tried to keep his balance as Hunter began to run.
The black slugcat quickly wrapped his arms around Hunter, holding onto him tightly. He could feel the drops of rain falling on his paws and face.
His tail waved behind him anxiously as he was carried along by the stronger slugcat, holding on for dear life. Hunter climbed up a hill, Nightcat almost falling off a few times he jumped too far. He got up to his shelter, going inside it. He heard the door click shut just before the worst of the rain came down.
Nightcat climbed off Hunter's back, sitting on the ground with wobbly legs. He was panting heavily and his heart was still beating fast from the run.
He took his spear off his back and put it down against the wall of the shelter. He looked back at his stack of blue fruit. He goes over and sits down next to the pile, grabbing a fruit and taking a bite out of it.
He looked over to Nightcat, wondering if he would come and join him for a snack.
The black slugcat got up and began to shake himself off, trying to shake the rainwater from his glossy black coat.
He looked over at Hunter, hearing him taking a snack. He slowly padded over to him, looking at the pile of fruit. His tail was wagging nervously as he looked up at the bigger slugcat.
He sat down on his butt, his tail wagging as he grabbed a blue fruit and chowing down on it.
Hunter continued to chow down on his fruit. Once he finished it he crawled off into a corner of the shelter. He curled himself into a ball and closed his eyes. Laying his head down on top of his tail.
Nightcat continued to eat the tasty fruit he grabbed, his tail wagging joyfully. He happily chewed on the sweet snack, the juices coating his mouth.
Nightcat finished his snack pretty quickly, and looked over at Hunter. He saw the bigger slugcat curled up in the corner, resting and closing his eyes.
The black slugcat slowly padded over, and hesitantly laid down next to him. He was a bit weary as he got closer. He laid down behind Hunter, and curled up to him. He laid down his head on Hunter’s behind, closing his eyes and beginning to drift off.
Hunter wondered why this slugcat trusted him so much? I mean they barely met and the slugcat was already cuddling up to him. He didn’t mind it though. It felt nice to share the space with someone to cuddle up with.
