Adventure of Little Raven

Summary:

Out on a hunting trip something happens. Raven is lost, and all she knows is that she fell down a well. What happened, or hasn't happened yet?

Notes:

This work was started as a place to complete drabble challenges. This work will be different from my original post on Dokuga because instead of the 250 word limit I had imposed on myself previously, I will expand the chapters as I feel necessary for lack of story development in different sections. Chapter notes at the end will include whatever the prompt for the chapter was as well as if it was expanded from the original post.

    “Dear, it’s time for Raven to join the pack on a hunt trip.” The female Inu smiled at her mate, unashamed to use all of her charms against his resistance. His golden eyes fought her silver ones as he silently argued against her words. He didn’t want their pup to go on this hunt because it meant he’d have to keep a careful eye on her rather than letting loose and enjoying the hunt.

    “She’s too young.” His timbre was steady but hinted at an uncertainty. Why? Because he knew it wasn’t true, he was simply trying to make excuses. Raven had been old enough to join him on a hunt for some time now, he just kept evading it whenever he could.

    “Either you take her out on the hunt, or she will be taking etiquette lessons from her grand-dam. It’s your choice.” As she finished speaking her arms crossed over her chest and an eyebrow rose. It was followed closely by the steps announcing the presence of another female Inu entering the chambers. Her expression looked for all the world like a cat who’d caught the mouse.

    “Fine, I’ll take her on the hunt.” He answered quickly and moved from the room just as quickly. Avoiding the glare from his own dam as he did so. He was now on the hunt for their pup to take with him on the hunt. His excuse in this moment was the hunt, to avoid dealing with his own dam.

    “Papa! What’s that glowing over there?” Her small hand pointed towards a portion of the forest that was glowing like a festival night. As they neared the origin of the light, they saw an old run down well. Before he could stop her, Raven rushed forward to inspect the oddity.

    Her small body pressed against the side of the well so she could peer down into it, her ears rang with the sound of cracking wood before she fell forward into the pale blue light spilling from it. His golden eyes widened as he watched her fall in and vanish before he could react and attempt to snatch her from the air.

    He stared at the well for several minutes. He knew what this meant, but he wasn’t happy about it at all.

        "I’m too old to get mixed up in this nonsense again."
