Chapter Text
"Live well. While time remains."
And at that point, everything changed. Evan Trevelyan, the Inquisitor and Herald Of Andraste, heard the words of his former friend and felt a cold rage inside of him. Using it, he directed the energies of the amulet gifted to him by the Warden and pushed away the agonizing pain from his ever so slowly disintegrating forearm. But instead of reaching for the broadsword on his back, he reached for the blade on his belt, thought of Josephine, the family they wanted, and thrusted his sword directly into the back of the elf's neck, where the spine met the brain stem.
Taken by surprise at the Human's defiance, as he had not expected the man to be able to summon the strength due to the agony he was in, Solas collapsed. Powerful he might've been, but even he was vulnerable to a surprise attack from someone a part of him still considered a friend. Blood spilled from his mouth as the Inquisitor removed the blade, and the Dread Wolf found himself on the ground, choking to death on his own life force.
The green eyed and pale skinned man finally turned his eyes to where his forearm was still disintegrating, growled, and cut off the rest right below the elbow to prevent it from spreading further. He took a Health Potion, and then the metallic armour made from the scales and bones of dragons clanked as he knelt down to collect the head of his former friend before he walked away.
Winter Palace, 45 Minutes Later
"We cannot afford to lose the Inquisition now! We stand on the brink...!"
As words continued to spill from the mouth of Arl Teagan and several others, the Inquisitor chose to ignore them as he marched into the room.
"You all know what this is. A writ from Divine Justinia authorizing the formation of the Inquisition. We pledged to close the Breach, find those responsible, and to restore order with or without anyone's approval."
Cassandra, though now more often known as Divine Victoria, nodded approvingly as she realized where her friend was going.
"It wasn't a formally authorized treaty that saved Fereldans people. It wasn't careful diplomacy that ended your inane civil war. It was never about the organization. It was about people doing what was necessary. Now, if you'll excuse me, Solas, an ancient Elven Mage who gave his orb to Corypheus and caused the whole mess, is dead, and since Orlais and Ferelden are so concerned with their ability to handle the cleanup themselves, well, go ahead. We've done our part."
Josephine, Cassandra, Leliana, and several others did a double take as he tossed the head of the Dread Wolf towards the table. He then put his arm around Josephine and began leading her out, not that she felt like resisting the second she noticed he was missing a hand.
"Effective immediately, the Inquisition is disbanded."
There was a minor argument as Josephine wanted to get her betrothed checked out, but the Inquisitor wanted to ride for Antiva to get married immediately. They settled on letting Dorian take a look at it during the journey.
Vigil's Keep, roughly a month after The Exalted Council
King Alistair and Queen Anora walked through the halls of the Keep down to the courtyard to see what was taking Morrigan and Kieran so long to come in for breakfast. As the mind of his Queen momentarily worried about the safety of their friend and her son, Alistair was wondering about where his brother in battle was now. Warden Commander and Teyrn Evan Cousland was supposed to have arrived the night before, but he was over twelve hours late.
"There."
He looked to where his wife was pointing, and saw a number of people walking through the front gates. A large grin appeared on his face as he recognized the heavy plate armour of the man at the head, his arm around the one-time Witch Of The Wilds and their son, Kieran. Beside them walked a Human Mage, a Dalish Mage, a Dalish woman with two swords on her back, and a Dwarf woman with a pair of axes on her back. The Warden Commander walked up, took off his helmet, and went to one knee along with several others.
"I apologize for taking so long, Your Majesty, we were delayed assisting some travelers who were lost in the mountains. But we have found a Cure to the Calling. A potion which will not only free us of it, but should also restore other things such as our fertility, though we haven't tested that part yet. I'm sure the Queen, among others, will appreciate that."
Alistair smiled as he looked into the dark blue eyes of his old friend. "I'm happy your mission was a success, Warden Commander. Though in the matters of an heir, we decided to wait until your return before telling you that, as of two months ago, we discovered that Anora is pregnant."
"Congratulations, Your Majesties."
"So, Dad, does that mean you and Mother can finally get around to making me a sibling?"
Evan Cousland and several others either choked on air or laughed. Velanna, Finn, Sigrun, and Ariane just looked at each other, either chuckled or snorted, and began planning how to keep the teenager occupied while Morrigan and Evan caught up.
Kirkwall, Hawke Estate, roughly two months after Trespasser
Evan Hawke, Champion Of Kirkwall, sighed in relief as he stepped into the outskirts of his families estate in the aforementioned city. It had been almost a year since he'd last seen his wife, who had tracked him down while on his way to Weisshaupt after Varric had told her about the events at Adamant Fortress. That meeting had certainly been... pleasurable, but she'd eventually been forced to return to Kirkwall. Now, after leading the surviving Wardens back to Adamant to rebuild their Order alongside their Orlesian brothers along with those at Vigil's Keep in Ferelden, he could finally come home.
A sound drew his attention, and his brow furrowed. Then it came again, and his pace quickened. When he entered the house, he followed what sounded like babies crying to find his wife carrying a bundle in her arms. She looked up, and smiled.
"Here, please try to calm Tiana while I tend to Darril."
Merril handed the bundle to her husband and disappeared back into their bedroom. After a second, Evan's brain caught up with what had just happened and he quickly followed his wife. He found her lifting their son, who had the same pale skin and orange eyes as himself, out of a crib.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
She turned as their children started to calm down. "I wanted too, but I didn't want to distract you from your task. The Wardens needed your help, it didn't seem like something to tell you in a letter, and by the time I realized I was too far along to trek all the way to Adamant to tell you in person. I'm sorry..."
He hugged her, then pulled back to kiss her. Then their twins started crying again. Bethany, who'd been out getting supplies, soon walked in and started to help the couple.
Skyhold, six months after Trespasser
Josephine Trevelyan sighed as she signed the final piece of paperwork for the night. She'd had a very long day, disbanding an organization as large as the Inquisition was no easy task after all, and only wished to return to bed with her husband. While they'd gotten married within a month of travelling to Antiva, most of those they'd wanted there had already been in the Palace and were quite happy to join them.
"Josie, you need to rest."
She looked up to see her friend, Leliana, looking very cross. The spymaster took the ambassador by the arm and began gently hauling her out of the room.
"You're three months pregnant, Josie, your staff can handle this while you find something to eat and get some rest. Cullen, give me some help here."
She sighed, but chose to let Leliana have her way. She was tired, and had to admit that she was almost done anyway. Cullen simply walked in, picked her up, and hauled her out. As they passed into the Great Hall, she noticed Cassandra hauling an equally exhausted Evan, her husband didn't regain consciousness until the two of them were dumped onto their bed upstairs. The two got up, switched into their nightclothes, and went to sleep.
