Chapter Text
The castle was different at night.
Not necessarily bad, or spooky – just different. And a little colder.
There were no girls in the corridors, sitting on every ledge and talking about anything.
There were no things to do, no places to be.
Sometimes, Ada took herself to a moonlight walk through the castle, and every time, there was some small detail she noticed as if it were brand new: the nice swirl at the top of a light-fixture, the way that some trinket’s green colour was mirrored in the carpet, the way the steps had slight bumps in the middle.
