Work Text:

The hallway was silent, walking around it gave a relaxing atmosphere, the sun rays filtering through the glass cabinets Illuminating the place in a warm yellow, the ornate bone-white upholstery with its golden pattern gave a unique and harmonious pattern, the place could be considered heaven, but is heaven so little beautiful compared to this? The home of the first men, a place where knowledge is told on its walls and its secrets are hidden behind them.
All the comforting silence was shattered when the three children ran out screaming, they ran around the place having fun with joy, the youngest was chasing the oldest who was behind them chasing the one in the middle screaming that they will never catch him.

“They will never catch me” said the eldest with amusement and mockery in his voice, while dodging obstacles in the hallway, the one in the middle caught up to him staying side by side “haha I am going to win” he said with a smile on his face, the eldest made a face.

“Hey that's not fair” he tried to run faster trying to pass the one in the middle but he stopped him. “Face it Cain, I'm faster- hey hey” Cain pushed his brother aside almost making him fall, Cain smiled and ran faster passing him. Just when he thought he would win this race, his brother appeared pushing him. “I will win” Cain hit him back without stopping. “I won't” he said as he looked at the finish line in front of him.

“I won't let you win” he said pushing Cain harder, he growled as he pushed his brother harder. “Come on Abel, accept it” they kept pushing one after the other when a stronger push made them crash into a porcelain vase falling and breaking into pieces, the two brothers stood paralyzed watching the mess they made. “Shit” Cain gave Abel an angry look for the word.

Tiredly his younger brother arrives, scared to see the broken vase.

“What happened?” He said with nerves in his voice, “I'm sorry it was an accident” Cain said shyly.

“And now?” Abel said with concern, the children looked at the vase not knowing what to do, the middle brother bent down picking up the broken pieces, but before continuing Cain grabbed him by the arm and pulled him from the pieces. “Stop doing that, you're going to cut yourself and it will be worse” Cain said firmly, his brother nodded and in a whisper he apologized.

They continued to look at the vase while Cain sighed tiredly, “I was the one to blame.” The two brothers were almost in shock, looking at their brother with concern. “Wha- No, it was me who knocked it over,” said Cain, taking all the responsibility.

Abel looked at him angrily and frustrated. “Cain, stop holding everything, and let me be responsible for this.” He raised his voice, making Cain angry. “Hey, I'm the oldest, what happens to you is my responsibility.” The two brothers looked at each other angrily, his younger brother looked at them almost scared. “I'll take the blame,” he said, and the two brothers looked at him coldly.

“No,” they said at the same time, returning to their discussion. The younger sighed in defeat, but remained still. “Dad?” he said nervously, causing his two brothers to turn around in fear.

In front of them, a tall man with long white hair dressed in gold and bone white looked at the children with no expression, his gaze fell on the broken vase and he coldly looked at his children.
“Who was it?” He said with a difference, the children looked at each other and the three began to talk.
“It was me, father,” Abel said, but Cain interrupted him. “It wasn’t me.” Abel looked at him with betrayal. “No, no, it was me who caused this.” The younger stood in front of them. “No, dad, it was me,” he said confidently. The two brothers denied that fact, continuing to blame each other.
Their father looked at the children and with a fake cough he called the attention of the three of them.
“Since you are responsible for this, the three of you are grounded.” The children became upset.

“No, father, don’t punish them for my mistakes,” Cain said. Abel accepted and said nothing. The younger just looked at the three of them with concern.

“I’m sorry, I’ve made my decision,” he said coldly. The brothers gave up, looking at each other sadly.

“And what is the punishment?” said the younger with a little fear. His father looked at him thoughtfully.

In the field Abel was talking to the sheep while in the background Cain was being dragged by one, his younger brother was feeding them sacaque while the sheep ate from his hand, despite the fact that there was sacate on the ground. The sheep jumped making Cain drop it, falling face down to the ground “Seriously how are we going to graze all of them if they are impossible” said Cain irritated on the ground, Abel moved his shoulders while continuing to talk to them and listening to his brother. “I don’t know, what do you think Seth” he said with a calm voice.
Seth looked at his brother while continuing to feed the sheep.
“It wouldn’t be bad to stay with them for a while like that” he said with a smile while one of the sheep lightly bumped his nose on his shoulder, making him smile while feeding him more sacate with his hand.

Cain got up from the ground and approached his two brothers. “Father didn’t leave us this punishment to have fun” he said with authority while crossing his arms.

“Relax Cain, it’s not like this is for right now” said Abel as he stood up. “I can’t relax when they won’t stop bothering me” he said irritatedly carefully pushing one of the sheep.

Seth stood up and approached his brothers, “I agree with Cain, we have to finish this job that father gave us” Abel complained getting up from the ground wiping the trash off his clothes. “Well where do we start” the brothers looked at the pile of sheep that were eating peacefully without knowing what awaited them.

Abel and Cain were trying to decide which way to go to graze the sheep that were behind them eating on the ground. “What do you think about that way” he said pointing to one side of the meadow, Cain shook his head. “Of course not, it’s better there” he said pointing to another side, it didn’t matter which way they pointed everything was the same.

“No, it seems very dangerous to me, they could go to the city and make chaos” said Abel while continuing to point to his side, Cain sighed frustrated. “Of course not, they will get lost there” while Cain and Abel argued Seth silently looked at the flock of sheep behind him, his gaze fell on one of them that was eating calmly, he wondered what it would feel like to be a sheep? Is life better when you eat? He came out of his thoughts when his gaze caught a lonely sheep heading to the nearest forest. Seth tried to call it but the sheep didn't care and walked quickly into the forest until it got lost in the undergrowth. Seth went after it without thinking, not knowing that his brothers didn't notice his absence.

“Well anyway, what do you think Seth... Seth?” Abel said looking to both sides, his brother wasn't there. Cain started to shout his name but there was no answer, suddenly the two began to worry. “Didn't you see where he went?” Cain said a little upset about having lost his brother, now dad is going to kill them. Cain on the other hand was nervous but he tried to hide. “There's nothing to worry about, he surely went to dad to beg him that he doesn't want to do this boring job”

“Hey, he would never do that…” said Cain with a grimace on his face, Abel ignored him “Yeah sure, he's the favorite” he said without interest making Cain angry.

“Of course not, dad loves us both, he's just the youngest and well…” said Cain trying to think of another reason, Abel exhaled in irritation “of course he's never been punished” Cain looked at him forming a line with his lips trying to hide a smile “me neither”

Abel was surprised making an offended face “What?! Am I the only one?!” said Abel while crossing his arms, Cain raised an eyebrow “what did they punish you for” he said while Abel dramatized a little “I cleaned my room!” Cain opened his eyes “god, that's not a punishment, that's a responsibility” he said while Abel glared at him.

“Okay, okay, okay let's go get Seth before dad finds out and kills us” said Abel heading to the plain, Cain looked at him with concern “where do you think he went?” said Cain heading with Abel, Abel pointed to a set of trees.
“He must have gone there.” He said confidently, Cain sometimes distrusted his brother's abilities, but in this situation any feeling is accepted.

"Sure?"

"Of course" he said quickly interrupting his brother heading to the forest, Cain looked at the forest making sure his brother was not in trouble, he followed Cain as the two of them went into the unknown.

The forest was dark and gave a dangerous and inhospitable environment, the brothers walked in silence in case there was a predator lurking nearby,
Luckily there was nothing in that forest, well nothing yet, Abel looked through the bushes to see if his brother was hiding there, Cain tried to use his hearing sense to hear something, Cain suggested calling his brother but Abel told him that would be a terrible idea, after a while Cain stopped when he heard a noise, his attention was caught by Cain pointing to a group of trees. “Did you hear that?” he said as they remained silent. Abel looked at them with disinterest. “Of course, let’s not continue-”

“Shhh. There,” said Cain, pointing to a part of the forest, distant murmurs could be heard. Cain opened his eyes and grabbed a branch from the ground in case it was an unwanted person. The children slowly approached and saw with surprise their brother talking to a sheep that they didn't know had gotten lost. “I think we got lost…” he said while he stroked the sheep's head. “Do you think they'll come back?” he said, whispering to the sheep that continued chewing its food without caring what the young man said to it. Suddenly the two brothers came out, surprising Seth.

“Did they come for me?” he said with a smile. His brothers nodded. “Of course we would never abandon you,” said Cain while Abel nodded. “Well, how about we get out of here before something comes or Father doesn't see us anymore?” said Abel while the three of them and the lost sheep went back.

When the lost sheep returned to his family, the brothers watched calmly as the sheep joined their group, “I thought I would stay there forever, but I couldn’t leave it alone in that forest” said Seth with a bit of guilt and shame, Cain looked at him proudly “don’t worry brother, you did a good thing, that sheep wouldn’t have survived there alone.” Seth smiled at his brother’s comment, Abel gave him a playful push on his shoulder. “don’t worry brother we will always be taking care of you, even when we are adults.” Seth’s eyes lit up at his brothers’ words. “really?” his brothers nodded “sure and when Cain is a wrinkled old man” a “hey” was heard Cain looked at him ugly for a few seconds, while the brothers laughed.

“We will always be taking care of you after all you are our little brother” Seth with almost teary eyes hugged his brothers sharing a nice family hug, after separating from the hug the children laughed, Cain was the first to speak “good and now what?” suddenly the three opened their eyes.

“The sheep!” Seth looking at all scattered everywhere while they talked the sheep decided to go eat wherever they wanted, quickly the three of them threw themselves to gather them in a single point and prevent them from moving away further, from a window of the kingdom, the king looked at his children with pride, seeing them happy while the children had fun in their adventures, the king walked through the halls thinking that his beloved would have been happy to see her children so happy.
