Summary:

Amy gets sick and Oliver pays her a visit

Notes:

Hi hello, I’m currently sick and I don’t have a boyfriend to take care of me so instead I’m giving Amy a boyfriend to take care of her and living vicariously through my own writing.
Writetober day 2 wooooo. I probably won’t post everyday, maybe once every other day, but so far so good. Enjoy todays sick fluff :)
(They’re already dating btw)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Amy lay face down on the bed, head smushed into a pillow and body buried under two heavy blankets. Several pillows and stuffed animals were scattered around, leaving the mattress looking more like a nest than a teenage girl’s bed.

A knock at the door caught her attention.

“Amy?” Her mom called out, cracking the door open. “Are you awake sweetie?”

Amy mumbled a response, tilting her head enough for one eye to see the room.

“Oliver’s here, honey. He wanted to see how you’re doing.”

Another mumble escaped her throat, which her mother correctly took as permission to enter. Amy could hear her mom say something to Oliver before walking away, leaving him in the doorway.

He slipped into the room, closing the door quietly behind him and making his way to the head of Amy’s bed. Carefully he took a seat, raising a hand to run his fingers through Amy’s hair, and the gesture relaxed her so instantaneously that she could’ve fallen asleep right then and there.

“Hey,” Oliver whispered, leaning down to put his bag on the floor. Amy could hear the smile in his voice.

“Mmm,” she responded, her best attempt at speaking.

“How’re you feeling?”

She sniffed. “Terrible.”

Her body was heavy and warm, her head wouldn’t stop hurting, and her nose and throat seemed to have it out for her with constant coughing and sniffling. Despite this, she managed the strength to shift backwards, a silent invitation for Oliver to join her fully on the bed. He took it gladly.

Moving the blankets around, Oliver shuffled himself against the wall, sitting up in a way that allowed Amy to rest in his arms. She immediately cuddled into his chest, treating him like the world's largest stuffed animal and wrapping her arms around him.

They sat silently for a while, Oliver gently running his hands through Amy’s hair while she tried her hardest not to fall back asleep.

Amy eventually broke the silence, weakly asking, “What if I get you sick too?”

Oliver chuckled. “I’ll be ok, I don’t get sick easily.”

“But what if you do,” she insisted.

“If I do get sick, then you’ll be there to cuddle me,” he joked, adjusting Amy so they were now both sitting up. He leaned forward, placing a kiss on her forehead.

Amy felt her eyes welling up, a mixture of her naturally emotional state and illness making everything suddenly feel like too much as she buried her head into Oliver’s shirt.

“Hey, hey, what’s wrong?” Oliver asked, a gentle smile on his face as he wiped away her tears, pulling Amy back off his chest.

“I- I really love you,” Amy sniffed, letting her tears flow freely.

“I love you too,” Oliver said, and the look in his eyes let Amy know how much he meant it.

She cried for another minute, Oliver handing her the bedside tissue box for her tears and snot. Despite how gross she must’ve looked, Amy noticed that the endearing gaze Oliver gave her never faltered.

She leaned back into his chest, apologizing for the tears she accidentally got on his shirt.

“It’s ok, I’ll just say it’s an ‘Amy Original.’”

She giggled, relaxing back against Oliver’s arm.

“I brought my laptop if you wanna watch a movie,” Oliver offered. “We can watch something ‘til you fall asleep.”

“Can we watch Wall-e?” Amy asked.

“But you just stopped crying,” Oliver argued, knowing very well how emotional that movie made her.

“Please?” Amy asked again, giving Oliver the best pleading eyes she could manage in her sickened state.

He sighed, relenting immediately. “Oh, alright. You’ll probably be asleep before it gets sad anyway.”

“I will not!” Amy protested. “I’ll stay awake the whole time just cause you said that.”

“Oh I’m sure you will,” Oliver teased, reaching for his bag and opening his laptop.

Later on, when Amy’s mom came to check up on them, they would both be fast asleep before the movie was even halfway over.

Notes:

I’ve always loved the idea of Amy loving wall-e and crying her eyes out every time she watches it but alas I don’t have the art skills to draw it 3 so instead I just get to write about it

This was very cute to write so hopefully it was equally as cute to read :3 have a good night, see you soon !
