Work Text:

They sat on the porch swing overlooking the beach, the only sound was the waves crashing gently against the shore. The kids were sleeping down in the beach house, something about a summer sleepover whatever that was but it gave the pair a good night alone.

Hop lit a cigarette and passed it to Joyce. She sucked on it gingerly and coughed as the unfiltered smoke filled her lungs.

“I still don’t understand how you can smoke this stuff Hop,” she said through coughs. “It’s revolting!”

“Eh what can I say I’m made of tougher stuff than you.” He teased. She gave him a look because of course that wasn’t true and they both knew it. She scooted over to him to rest her head on his forearm.

They had been down at the sea for 2 days now which was a nice break from Hawkins as one could probably walk around that town in a day. The sea had always been a special place for Joyce, when her dad was too drunk or rehabilitated to look after her in the summer, she would come and stay with her aunt and uncle and cousins. It was there she learnt to swim, ride a bike and the occasional surfing.

She turned to Hopper and brought her hands up to his face and brought her lips to his in a soft but passionate kiss. His lips were warm against hers and his stubble tickled her skin. His hands went to her waist as he squeezed her against him.

She was so happy. For the first time in a long long time she was truly at peace. They broke apart and kissed her nose sweetly. She leant her head on his chest as she was practically on top of him now. She could hear his heartbeat against her head as his hands stroked her hair. She could get used to this, to Hopper being there, at least for now, she could just focus on her breathing and the waves crashing against the shore, only a mile away.

Notes:

I like this one but I wanted to make it a bit more smutty but maybe in another song… leave a comment and kudos. Love you,
